Mike’s Message At last we have new seats, and many of you have attested that they are extremely comfortable, and give a greatly improved view. A number of other significant improvements completed include the installation on 23 June of digital cinema with 3D capability. The sound and picture are greatly improved and we have opportunity to show films sooner. The new shutters provide a complete blackout which will be good for shows and films. We are investigating the best system to install to help with hearing disability. Other improvements on the way will be enhanced lighting, new microphones, the ability to film and record events, the re-vamp of the disabled lavatory facilities, and repairs to roof and grounds. The new digital equipment will allow us to screen live shows such as the Royal Opera, the Met and National Theatre. We plan our first screening to be the ballet Swan Lake on 23 October - so get comfortable with that glass of wine or hot chocolate. All this would not have been possible without the fantastic support of Welsh Government funding through the Community Facilities and Activities Programme and, with help Menter Môn, the Rural Development Plan. However, the income side gets tighter as other grants remain at standstill, or are reduced. Therefore, as ever, your support in attending as many events as possible to make the most of this great opportunity is vital. Best wishes for a lovely summer! Sometimes the Main Hall is used for other functions or events such as films, performances or life classes which can prevent visitors looking around. Therefore it is best to ring ahead to check availability particularly if travelling any distance.
