    PRESS RELEASE Actor Ben Miller will turn on Cirencester’s Christmas Lights Organisers of Cirencester’s Advent Festival are delighted to announce that comedian, actor and director Ben Miller will be their special guest this year to switch on the Christmas Lights. Ben is well known for the award winning comedy sketch show Armstrong & Miller and the long suffering sidekick Bough to Rowan Atkinson’s Johnny English. He has also enjoyed success in Primeval, Dr Who and disgruntled detective Richard Poole in crime series Death in Paradise. Ben lives just outside Cirencester. He says he loves the town for its fabulous restaurants, glorious shopping, and ever-friendly locals. He is also a fan of the Love Lane industrial estate, where he likes to browse tractors and outdoor clothing of all shades and varieties. The event, which is being organised by Cirencester Town Council, will take place on Saturday November 26th from 9.00am to 9.00pm culminating with the traditional switch on ceremony from 6.30pm with the lights on and a display by Cotswold Fireworks at 7.00pm. What’s more, there will be lots of fun and surprises throughout the day as shops and businesses are being asked to help make Cirencester Sparkle by entering into the spirit of the day with special themes, entertainment and special promotions. Nick Brook, one of the organising team said “We are really pleased that so many shops this year are so keen to be part of making Advent Festival Day such a special one. We have some volunteers who have come forward to provide entertainment throughout the town during the day with busker style performances, street magic and colourful costumes and of course, we would welcome more.

    Monday 7 January 2019 FULL CASTING ANNOUNCED FOR THE WEST END TRANSFER OF HOME, I’M DARLING As rehearsals begin, casting is announced for the West End transfer of the National Theatre and Theatr Clwyd’s critically acclaimed co-production of Home, I’m Darling, a new play by Laura Wade, directed by Theatre Clwyd Artistic Director Tamara Harvey, featuring Katherine Parkinson, which begins performances at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 26 January. Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd, Humans) reprises her acclaimed role as Judy, in Laura Wade’s fizzing comedy about one woman’s quest to be the perfect 1950’s housewife. She is joined by Sara Gregory as Alex and Richard Harrington as Johnny (for the West End run, with tour casting for the role of Johnny to be announced), reprising the roles they played at Theatr Clwyd and the National Theatre in 2018. Charlie Allen, Susan Brown (Sylvia), Ellie Burrow, Siubhan Harrison (Fran), Jane MacFarlane and Hywel Morgan (Marcus) complete the cast. Home, I’m Darling will play at the Duke of York’s Theatre until 13 April 2019, with a press night on Tuesday 5 February. The production will then tour to the Theatre Royal Bath, and The Lowry, Salford, before returning to Theatr Clwyd following a sold out run in July 2018. Hammed Animashaun, Claudia O’Doherty & Joe Thomas star in ‘The Festival’ (image © Nick Wall) The Festival is the first comedy feature release from production company Fudge Park, formed by The Inbetweeners writers and executive producers Iain Morris and Damon Beesley. It is directed by Iain Morris and written by Keith Akushie and Joe Parham (Siblings) and stars Joe Thomas (The Inbetweeners, Fresh Meat), Hammed Animashaun (Flowers, Black Mirror), Claudia O’Doherty (Love, Trainwreck), Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords, Moana) and Hannah Tointon (Mr Selfridge). The production team based at The Bottle Yard, building sets and basing production offices, art department and prop stores on site and using the Studios’ edit rooms, costume and make up suites and rehearsal rooms. A large festival set was created in a field in nearby Chew Magna, whilst other festival scenes filmed at Hengrove Park and Ashton Court in Bristol over four weeks in August/September 2017.
