He was filmed in 1997 in a film starring . Plot resumes Experienced robber, Luther Whitney, breaks into the billionaire's house with the intention of robbing him. While there, he witnesses how the President of the United States and the wife of the billionaire had sex. However, their love turns violent and Secret Service agents stormed in and killed the woman, whom Whitney also sees. The reason Whitney was able to witness the murder was because he was standing behind a large one-way mirror, which was a secret door to the big closet where the billionaire was sitting and watching his wife have sex with another man. Whitney escapes, but not before the Secret Service learns of his presence; they're accused of killing Whitney's wife. Whitney escapes from the president's agents, while the detective tries to piece together the crime. The characters of Luther Whitney Whitney is a professional robber who is caught three times. He personally witnessed the incident mentioned in the Summary of the precinct and ran for his life, but later returned and tried to bring the real offender to justice. Kate Whitney Kate is Luther's only daughter. Luther was in prison as Kate's childhood, leading to Kate being harsh on criminals, especially thieves and robbers. Police later used Kate to get to Luther, who changed her view of her father and her own life. Kirkus's critical reception reviews gave him a bad review, writing: For all his arrested premise, a bloated and tedious tale of mortal sins. Jonathan Kirsch in the Los Angeles Times was a little more receptive, writing that Baldacci is never thin, but he manages to outdo enough suspense to outsal us, if only to find out how evil all the president's men (and women) will be.
