Your Grace! First of all, I assure you of my devotion and humility. I declare that I consider and have always considered myself a member of the U[krainian] A[utocephalous] O[rthodox] C[hurch] in spite of the fact that I formally belonged to a different hierarchy, for it is well known that the Ukrainian Church, Orthodox as well as Catholic, is outlawed in Ukraine. Such are the barbaric ethics of the Bolsheviks. 1 The appeal was a remarkable testimony that almost fifty years after the destruction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Autocephalous Church formed in the 1920s and over thirty years after the eradication of the Church restored during the Second World War, loyalty to Ukrainian Orthodoxy still remains alive among Ukraine's believers. It also demonstrates how shared persecution has brought new ecumenical understanding between U,laainian Orthodox and Ukrainian Catholics. 'To discuss the position of Ukrainian Orthodoxy in the Soviet Union is a difficult task, for since the destruction of tens of its bishops, thousands of its priests, and tens of thousands of its lay activists in the early 1930s (and once again after the Second World War), and its forcible incorporation into the Russian Orthodox Church, it exists more as a loyalty and an Ull realised dream than as an active movement. -

Social, Health, and Communication Studies Journal Contemporary Ukraine: A case of Euromaidan, Vol. 1(1), November 2014 MacEwan University, Canada National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine Ternopil State Medical University, Ukraine Article Euromaidan Values from a Comparative Perspective Sviatoslav Sviatnenko, graduate student, Maastricht University, Netherlands Dr. Alexander Vinogradov, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine Abstract Ukrainian revolution frequently called the “Euromaidan” changed Ukrainian society in 120 days and, later, became a regional conflict and a challenge to a global order. This primary social revolution was followed by value and paradigmatic shifts, middle class revolution, and a struggle for human rights, equality, justice, and prosperity. This study examines values and social structure of the Euromaidan. In addition to ethnographic study consisting of participant observations and informal interviewing, data from European Social Survey (2010-2013) and face-to-face survey conducted by an initiative group of sociologists on Maidan were used in order to approach this goal. Results of the study show that values of the Euromaidan (Universalism, Benevolence, Self-Direction, Stimulation, and Security) coincide more with European values, especially those of developed Western and Scandinavian countries, than Ukrainian ones. Furthermore, values of protesters find its reflection in deeply rooted Ukrainian identity. Moreover, Maidan was consisted of three major groups of protesters: “moralists,” “individualists,” -

UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH - A POWERFUL PEACE ACTOR? According to the Constitution, Ukraine is a secular state, where its churches and all religious organizations are separated from the state and the legislative process. According to theologian Gennadiy Druzenko, in the framework of the regional scope, Ukraine might be described as one of the most religious countries in Europe.1 It is an undeniable fact, as the history of the Ukrainian Church dates back to the times of the Kyivan Rus, when its Prince Volodymyr the Great received Christianity from Constantinople in 988. It was one of the most remarkable event in the Ukrainian state creation that united Ukrainian people spiritually. However, it further served as an instrument of manipulations and basis for lies from the Russian side so as to justify its rights for the Ukrainian state. Further centuries are marked by a constant fight of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, one of the most pivotal soft instruments of the Russian hybrid warfare and the Russian foreign policy in promoting ideas of the so-called “Russian World”, to become a powerful actor on the international arena and win hearts and minds of Ukrainians. Nevertheless, in the times of the “Ukraine crisis”, that broke out in 2014 after the illegal annexation of Crimea and the manifestations of the Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine, the question of the religious independence from Russia was more pressing than ever. And finally, on January 9, 2019, a historical event has taken place – Ecumenical Patriarchate Bartholomew signed the Tomos of autocephaly, as a result the newly-established Orthodox Church of Ukraine was granted its canonical independence. -

The first research question uses data from public surveys and results of presidential and parliamentary elections 2014 and local elections 2015 in order to demonstrate that Ukrainian national identity has become more consolidated in its commitment to integration with the European Union. At the same time, there has been a significant rise of negative attitude towards Russia even in previously pro-Russian regions. The second research question is concerned with the democratic consolidation in Ukraine and whether resolution of pro- Russian vs. pro-Western identity conflict has resulted in enhanced democracy. In order to assess democratic consolidation in Ukraine the research looks at two main indicators post-crisis political party system and public support of democracy. -

There is a suggestion in the religious world, that prayer is more effective in certain places, in one way or another connected with the history of religion and the blessing of God in the search for a long time the faithful go to pilgrimage tours. Pilgrims visit not only temples, churches, monasteries, and holy rivers, lakes, etc. Religious tourism also commonly referred to as faith tourism, is a type of tourism, where people travel individually or in groups for pilgrimage or leisure (fellowship) purposes. Modern religious tourists are more able to visit holy cities and around the world. The most famous holy cities are Mecca, Madinah, Karbala, Jerusalem and Varanasi. In the research used analysis method and historical method. In a separate area of tourism pilgrimage tours to Ukraine stood out recently. However, the Ukrainian lands can be rightfully called the cradle of Orthodoxy. Since ancient times, there was built a great number of churches, cathedrals and monasteries of great beauty with a high dome and bells. Organization of international pilgrimage tourism in Ukraine is significantly inhibited by the presence of numerous problems, the solution of which is the case of the state, all organizations and institutions involved in tourism. Regions of international pilgrimage tourism can and should be Prykarpattya and Transcarpathia related to culture and memorable places of the peoples related with Catholicism, Judaism, Armenian Church. Kiev, Chernigov, Odessa, Poltava and many other cities are carriers not only of the Christian monoculture and poly-culture both in the pas and in our days.
