Held for the first time on the clay courts of the Frank Veltri Tennis Center, the Orange Bowl is the last Grade A event of 2011 ITF Junior Circuit. In an identical scoreline to last week’s Eddie Herr final, top seed Thiem once again defeated No.7 Patrick Ofner 61 60 to claim his third consecutive title in the last three weeks. “I am very happy for winning my first Grade A title. For results, reports and photos please visit: www.itftennis.com/juniors South African girls dominate East African Circuit South Africa’s Lynn Kiro and Theresa Van Zyl, both attendees of the ITF/SATA training centre in Pretoria, took five of the six available titles during the recent East African 18 & Under Circuit. The circuit ended last week in Kigali, Rwanda with an event contested by 49 boys and 23 girls from 18 countries within Africa, Europe, America and Asia. The Circuit started with two events in Bujumbura, Burundi. All three singles finals featured Kiro and Van Zyl. After Van Zyl beat her compatriot in the first tournament in Bujumbara 63 63, Kiro won the second final 46 76(5) 60 at the same venue and the third final 61 64 in Kigali. The pair reached all three doubles finals, winning the last two tournaments. In the boys singles, Portuguese Joao Barra cleaned up in all three tournaments. In the first two tournaments, he faced Egyptians Omar Gamal El Din and Mina Albert, beating them 61 46 64 and 62 63 respectively. In the final tournament, he defeated Gibrael Teja (KEN) 64 63 in the final. The Circuit also saw Burundi’s Guy Orly Iradukunda and ITF/SATA training centre member Andriatokiana Ratsimandresy of Madagascar winning the two doubles events in Burundi.
