And speaking of LPs, this month we also have the vinyl component of I’m pretty sure one could make a great argument for tracing blue-eyed the Ryan Montbleau Woodstock Sessions release from the Fall….and soul ladies from Dusty Spring eld and Bonnie Bramlett in the late the same for Sugarcane Jane’s Southern State of Mind. Also on vinyl 60s to Shelby Lynne’s classic I Am Shelby Lynne in the late 90s directly are a reissue of the classic Ghost Dance by the Pine Hill Haints, a new through to The Imperial by The Delines. Amy Boone’s voice is one from The Quick and Easy Boys, and a 7” with newly recorded surrounded with sounds that make you swear they were created in versions by The Suburbs of two of their best known tracks from years Memphis’ Royal Studios or maybe at Fame in Muscle Shoals. She sings past. songs of the down and pretty-much-out written by acclaimed novelist Willy Vlautin but steeped in soufulness. This is a very good album. Cornelius Chapel Records is an Alabama label to be reckoned with. 2018 alone brought us releases from Caleb Caudle, Austin Lucas and The House of Mythology folks have done it again. 2017s Sic Transit Will Stewart. This time around we have a CD and LP release from Gloria Mundi three track CD EP by Ulver has now been released on Terry Ohms who has been sharing music under that name and others vinyl. Side One duplicates the original EP but Side Two gives us four for the last couple of decades. Don't be fooled, this ain’t Southern live bonus tracks recorded in divergent locales from around the globe. Rock---it is music of present day South. Always great when more than half of an album is brand new bonus material. We don’t say it as often as we could or should. But burnside distribution thanks YOU. It may be arguable that we aren’t as dumb as Michael McDermott seems to garner fans one by one…and then never we look, but we know we could not do this without our partners. As lets them go. That word spreads a bit when one of them is a guy we sneak up on 25 years in business, we know that success in this named Stephen King who shares his thoughts amongst his own fans--- business calls for something to sell and people to sell it. As we start he does have a few himself. As a teaser for those who anxiously await this new year, we simply want you all to know we appreciate you. Delines, The, The Imperial CD In 2014, the Delines released their debut LP, toured Europe, UK and Australia and were heading towards CAT: album #2. Singer Amy Boone was hit by a car and endured nine surgeries over three years before ECR903 becoming strong enough to record again. Former Richmond Fontaine leader, Willy Vlautin had songs LABEL: El Cortez Records waiting---less Americana and more Country Soul. As Q wrote, “Vlautin is in majestic storytelling form… UPC: 843563108550 conjuring more depth in a couple of verses than most writers in 300 pages.” The Imperial melds his songs PRICE: $8.15 with Boone’s voice and a crack band with horns for a result that is a grand step forward from the rst album replete with emotional songs of worlds both romantic and lonely, desperate and hopeful. Sugarcane Jane, Southern State Of Mind LP Sugarcane Jane, the Alabama Gulf Coast-based husband and wife duo of Anthony Crawford and Savana CAT: Lee have recorded Southern State Of Mind with producer Buzz Cason. The recording starts o with a ARENA 2018-4 rousing “Cabin On The Hill”, already a favorite with Sugarcane Jane fans. It is followed by “Camp re”, the LABEL: ArenA Recordings rst single. pine hill haints, the, 'Ghost Dance' LP LP The Pine Hill Haints' Ghost Dance was rst recorded in 2006...done in two sessions. The rst was in CAT: Olympia Washington at Dub Narcotic by Calvin Johnson’s K Records, in the old warehouse with the classic Arkam 76 50s gra ti on the back wall, 2 inch tape analog...the van got towed right before the session, causing a LABEL: arkam records huge delay, and tour mates the Can Kickers from New London, Connecticut had a van completely UPC: 843563102855 breakdown, thus it led to them being at the session with us. Founding member Bradley Williams was also PRICE: $10.40 there, touring as a one man band. K released the record in 2007. It went through a few pressings, before coming back to Arkam Records.
Quick & Easy Boys, The, 'Ninkasi Sessions' LP LP The Quick & Easy Boys are a power-trio from Portland, Oregon that create their own brand of rock and CAT: roll using elements from The Minutemen, The Police, and Band of Gypsies among others. On their DUTCH005 latest album — Ninkasi Sessions — the Boys teamed up with Ninkasi Brewery and producer/engineer LABEL: Dutch Records James Book to cut nine tracks at Ninkasi’s in-house music studio in Eugene, Oregon. The loose, no- UPC: 193483016900 pressure attitude fostered by Book and Ninkasi, allowed the band the freedom to create some of the PRICE: $12.90 songs on the spot, as well as explore their musical in uences from disco to country, funk to soul and more. These recordings of classic 'Burb tunes are specially SUB 18 curated "hits" from the band's late 70's & 80's output, re-made with the new members in Hi-Fidelity LABEL: Suburbs Music Sound.
