Vanessa and 25th season at UF (420-124-36/UF), Darren Ambrose, 20th Kara scored the Gators’ opening goal in the 18th minute. Fellow senior Sammie Betters brought the season overall (203-103-43) and fifth at VU (55-30-8) ball through the right side of the box and then unselfishly crossed it to Kara who was making a left side Series Record: UF leads 27-3-1 run. Kara tapped it in from six yards for her team-leading sixth goal of the season. In the 53rd minute, Television: SEC Network Cassidy Lindley’s through ball from just inside the Florida half found Deanne Rose. Florida returns seven starters from the 2018 team that advanced to the Southeastern Conference Tournament semifinal. DID YOU KNOW? Two returning Gators earned All-SEC honors in 2017 – Parker Roberts (2017/first team), Deanne Rose (2017/first). Senior centerback Julia Lester appeared on the 2018 SEC All-Tournament team. Florida and Vanderbilt have met every season but two (2013, 2016) in Gator soccer’s 25-year history. The 2019 schedule has provided the Gators with plenty of challenges. There were just two teams in the nation that faced four preseason top-20 teams in the span of the opening five matches, with Florida SEC Regular Season Home: 7-2-0 being the only team with all those matches coming on the road. Florida faced four consecutive teams SEC Regular Season Away:11-1-1 versus teams among the 2019 United Soccer Coaches’ preseason top 20 – with the last three matches SEC Tournament: 8-0 in that span coming against teams among the nation’s top 10. Florida lost 3-1 to then No. 5 Southern NCAA Tournament: 1-0 California on Aug. 29 in the nightcap of the Battle at the Banc event and lost 2-0 at then No. 4 UCLA on Sept. 1. The Sept. 6 2-1 loss at No. 6 Florida State was UF’s third top-10 opponents in an eight-day stretch.

Florida faces nine teams on the 2019 United Soccer Coaches preseason poll – with seven of those meetings on the road. Nine meetings versus preseason top-25 teams in 2019 is second only to Duke’s 10. Add in Florida’s preseason exhibition versus No. 23 Wake Forest (3-2 loss) and the Gators have 10 meetings versus preseason top 25 teams. Four of Florida’s first five matches were versus top-25 teams – equaling Santa Clara for the nation’s highest number of preseason opponents in that span. Five SEC programs appear among the preseason top 25, with four additional programs receiving votes. In the Sept. 23 NCAA Toughest Schedules report, Florida is one of three league schools among the top 10 – Florida No. 3, Alabama No. 4 and Georgia No. 10.

Deanne Rose is among the 13 NCAA Division I players this fall who were on 2019 FIFA Women’s rosters. Rose appeared in Canada’s 1-0 win over Cameroon to open group play. She is one of four with Gator ties to appear in 2019 World Cup play, joining UF alumnae Adriana Leon (Canada), Lauren Silver (Jamaica) and Havana Solaun (Jamaica). Another Gator played for her national team this summer. Sophomore Georgia Eaton-Collins was part of ’s European Football Associations (UEFA) Under-19 Finals in , playing the entirety of the three group stage matches.

These two teams split in their 2018 meetings, with a single goal deciding each match. In the 2018 SEC opener, Vanderbilt took a 2-1 win in Gainesville. In the SEC Tournament quarterfinal round, a Madison Alexander goal in the seventh minute advanced Florida with a 1-0 win.

VU comes into Sunday’s match after three consecutive contests versus top-20 teams – at No. 20 Louisville (L, 1-0), versus No. 14 Tennessee (W, 1-0) and at No. 13 Arkansas (L, 1-0). In 2019 regular- season play, VU has met four top-25 opponents, including a 1-0 win at then No. 22 Pepperdine on Sept. 1. The Commodores are 6-0 in 2019 home action. Redshirt sophomore Haley Hopkins leads the Commodores and the SEC with 21 points and nine goals – both totals rank among current NCAA Division 1 top 10. Two Commodore seniors have split time in goal this season, with Lauren Demarchi (GAA: 0.192) getting most starts and Taiana Tolleson (GAA 0.638) taking over for the second half. The pair has allowed only four goals this season and the team’s GAA of 0.399 ranks in the current NCAA D1 top 10. Darren Ambroseis in his fifth season as Vanderbilt’s head coach.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Gators needed extended minutes to claim its season opener Friday at Florida TAMPA, Fla. – Ranked opponent. Record crowd. Atlantic. Junior Deanne Rose hit the golden winner in the 96th minute to give the Gators a 3-2 overtime win over Florida Atlantic. The Gators soccer team calmly handled those extras tonight, registering a 2-0 win over No. 18 South Florida

Friday’s scoring: Sunday evening in front of a Bulls women’s soccer record crowd of 2,011. Florida Atlantic scored the only goal of the opening half in the 18th minute. The Owls used four passes to bring the ball from midway in their defensive half to find Pernille Velta. She received the ball at the top of the Gator Sunday’s scoring: defensive third and drove toward goal to score on a 15-yard right-footed shot.
