A real “singfest” enthused Deutschlandfunk, while Online Musik Magazin Don Pomponio Storione Nicola Alaimo wrote of “frenetic applause” – the new production of Gioachino Lisetta Hasmik Torosyan Rossini’s seldom performed opera La gazzetta, ossia Il matrimonio per Filippo Vito Priante concorso (The Newspaper, or The Marriage Competition) at the 2015 Doralice Raffaella Lupinacci Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro proved to be a musical triumph. FULL INFORMATIU DESEMBRE 2018-GENER 2019 · N 51 TRISTAN UND ISOLDE, TRIOMFADORA DELS PREMIS DE LA CRÍTICA La temporada passada, la 17-18, va ser la de Tristan und Isolde per a bona part del públic del Liceu, però també per a la crítica. Una opinió unànime que es va reflectir a la trobada anual dels professionals especialitzats, convocatòria que ha complert la 26a edició. Aquesta iniciativa d’Amics del Liceu vol, des de fa un quart de segle, difondre els punts de vista de les persones dedicades a analitzar l'expressió artística. Sempre és enriquidor i instructiu, i encara més en un moment en què l'oferta és abundant (en el cas de l'òpera, relativament abundant). En la temporada de referència destaca el Gran Teatre del Liceu, més que en anteriors edicions dels Premis de la Crítica, perquè les produccions i els artistes que hi participaven han merescut gairebé la totalitat dels premis. Reunits el 22 de novembre, els crítics han destacat Tristan und Isolde com a millor representació de la temporada; Josep Pons per la direcció musical i Àlex Ollé com a director d’escena de la producció d’aquesta òpera de Richard Wagner. Andrea Chénier és un altre títol que ha sumat, d’una banda, el premi a la millor cantant femenina per Sondra Radvanovsky que interpretava Maddalena, i Carlos Álvarez que encarnava Gérard, com a millor interpretació masculina. El Premi al millor cantant en recital o en concert va ser per a Ildar Abdrazakov per Attila, també al Gran Teatre del Liceu. How wonderful to encounter this world- premiere Bellini recording, and that the performance is also quite fine (and sometimes astounding)! The recording is based on editorial work by Reto Müller and Florian Bauer and derives from two concert performances in July 2016 at the ‘Rossini in Wildbad’ Festival (in Germany’s Black Forest). The work proves to be strong indeed, thanks in part to the general excellence of the conductor, singers, and instrumentalists. The ‘G’ in the opera’s title, as Bellini connoisseurs will know, is not a typo. As for opera lovers, more generally, some of them may be aware of Bianca e Fernando. The latter is the opera’s second version (by Bellini himself), which had its premiere in 1829. Bianca e Gernando, the first version, had reached the stage in 1826. The hero’s name, originally intended to be Fernando, was changed to Gernando in order to avoid any possible unwanted comparisons with Fernando I, who had been King of the Two Sicilies until his death in 1825. For the second version, the more usual form of the name, with an ‘F’, was restored. Bianca e Gernando was Bellini’s first professionally staged opera, coming a year after his remarkable Adelson e Salvini, which the 23-year-old composer wrote for performance by students of the Naples Conservatory during his graduation year.1 When writing his first operas, Bellini was already a very skillful composer.

Gioachino Rossini (1792–1868) Italian, ingenious, inspired. Gioachino Rossini occupied an unrivalled position in the Italian musical world of his time, winning considerable success relatively early in his career. He was the first of the great 19th century Italian opera composers and brought opera into the public consciousness and even today his music still rings true. Rossini had already written ten operas before he was 21, and eventually composed 39 major stage works, though in his last thirty years he wrotcve nothing new. He did try to become a composer of serious operas, but it will always be his comic operas, The Barber of Seville (8.553436) and Cinderella (8.660191-92) that his fame will rest. Label Cat.
