All five leading services have grown strongly during 2020 as Australians endured a nation-wide lockdown from late March until early June and Victorians experienced a second, longer, lockdown soon after. 8.6 million Australians (40.6%) now view at least one of the BVOD services in an average four weeks and ABC iView is the clear market leader with 5.13 million viewers, up a large 2.12 million (+70.7%) from E a year ago. SBS On Demand is in a clear second place and now viewed by 4.08 million Australians in an average four weeks representing an increase of 1.49 million (+57.6%) from a year ago. However, the fastest growth over the last year has been for the traditional commercial broadcasters Seven, Nine and Ten which have all more than doubled their viewership. The leader of the three is the Seven Network’s 7plus which is now viewed by 2.68 million Australians, an increase of 1.5 million (+125.8%) from a year ago. FY21 INTERIM RESULTS 24 February 2021: Nine Entertainment Co. (ASX: NEC) has released its H1 FY21 results for the six months to December 2020. For the half, Nine reported Revenue of $1.2b and a Net Profit of $182m, which included a post-tax Specific Item expense of $5m. Group EBITDA of $355m equated to growth of 42% on H1 FY20 (like-basis), in-line with earlier guidance of `more than 40%’ growth, with operating conditions gaining positive momentum across the half. Net Profit After Tax and Minority Interests was $178m, up 69% on the previous corresponding period. Key takeaways include: • Continued audience strength across all key platforms • Marked improvement in ad markets through Q2, with strong growth in BVOD and FTA • Continued growth from subscription businesses - $23m EBITDA improvement at Stan - 26% growth in digital subscription and licensing revenue from Publishing • Group-wide costs down 13%, or $124m • 53% growth in digital EBITDA to 41% of Group EBITDA • Net Debt (wholly owned) of ~ $150m, equating to leverage of ~0.4X • Commitment to return Nine’s JobKeeper allowance (relating to wholly-owned businesses) to the Federal Government Hugh Marks, Chief Executive Officer of Nine Entertainment Co.

Media diversity supports analogue and digital radio rollout Digital radio uses the DAB+ standard and is available in all capital cities (Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Darwin, Perth) and regional centres such as Mandurah, Australia uses the AAC+ codec provided with upgraded DAB+ standard. The ABC, SBS, commercial radio stations, and community radio stations in each market provide many of their services and a few digital-only services on the digital platform. Despite the ABC and SBS services extends into regional Australia on a separate multiplex (both on 9C, 206.352 MHz) providing the same services as in 8 capital cities, the Digital Radio Mondiale was exported to Australia, becoming the first digital radio technology in metropolitan, regional and remote Australia to have DRM simulcasts AM and FM services, when AM and FM services accept the DAB+ and DRM signals. According to this, the content licences of 63 ABC Radio stations, 7 SBS Radio stations, 261 commercial radio stations, 450+ community radio services, 2610+ narrowcast radio services and 80+ narrowband radio services would be increased as expands to be simulcasts in digital formats on both DAB+ and Digital Radio Mondiale services across all the licences in most regions. The Federal Government in funding to help commercial, community, narrowcast and narrowband broadcasters with the costs of beginning digital broadcasts.
