MyCompLab Resources

MyCompLab is divided into three sections: Grammar, Writing and Research.

Grammar Resource Chapter Review Students take diagnostics to evaluate their current command of skills in sentence grammar, basic grammar, punctuation and mechanics, and sentence style. Results of the diagnostics will identify overall strengths and weaknesses, as well as provide specific question-by- question feedback. Results can be e-mailed to instructors.

Grammar Resource Exercise Zone ExerciseZone includes thousands of practice items organized into 10- question practice sets on over 50 topics. Pick from Sentence Grammar, Basic Grammar, Punctuation and Mechanics, or Usage and Style topics, or choose to do sentence or paragraph editing exercises. Results pages will give you question-by-question feedback and pro- vide options to read more about the topic in an online handbook or practice more with other practice sets. Results can also be e-mailed to instructors.

Grammar Resource Writing Process The Process section allows students to work in depth with each step of the writing process. They may choose to work on one specific step in the writing process, such as drafting, or they may choose to work through a series of "guided" exercises that walk them from one step of the writing process to the next, allowing them to bring a writing project to completion.

Grammar Resource Writing Activities The Activities section provides you with 100 different writing exercis- es in which students respond to videos, images, websites, or textual prompts. They are further divided according to writing purpose: ana- lyze, argue, compare, describe, discuss, evaluate, extend, inform, self- reflect, and synthesize. These exercises parallel the kinds of writing and critical thinking students will do in college. They can use them to practice their academic writing skills, discover ideas for class essays, or more generally, to sharpen their awareness of the world and their ability to reflect on their own experiences.
