"Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word, Just to rest upon His promise, Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord!" As we continue to thank the Lord for His Grace and Mercy, we trust that the coming year will bring bountiful blessings and abundant Peace, Love, Hope, Health and Prosperity!! The Chaplain’s Council is always ready to stand in the gap, interceding on your behalf. PRAYER LIST: We’re praying for all Sorors and their families, caregivers, and loved ones in the hospital, in nursing homes or a private residence. Over the past couple of months, we received Praise Reports of health restoration, personal accomplishments and protection from hurt, harm and danger. What a MIGHTY GOD we serve!! “Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal…” Most recently, Soror Caroline Richardson lost her cousin, Mr. Antonio Little. He was funeralized in East St. Louis, IL. Soror Meshelle Moore's dad passed away this week. More information is forthcoming. Please continue to keep all who are grieving lifted in prayer. Submitted in Sisterly Love, Soror Gilvonne Washington-Davis 708-257-9507 6 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: The Economic Development Committee (EDC) is in the process of creating a Dfree Program for the Chapter in line with Grand Chapter’s program. A related event is to be scheduled in April 2020. Place & Date are to be announced. The committee is looking to solicit a local bank or banks to partner with for a Debt Free event to offer to sorors and the community. —Mona Derico Howell EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: The meeting for youth programs will take place Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Bailly S.T.E.M. Academy from 1:00pm-until 3:00pm. EMBODI is looking for males ages 11-17 to actively participate in programming. Please help us spread the word! Our youth groups are collecting clothing for all sizes and genders and hangers for their clothing closet. We will be having a series of pop up shop clothing give away event in the Spring. — Sandra T. Brown INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS AND INVOLVEMENT: The International Awareness & Involvement (IAI) Committee is partnering, again, with the organization Rice Bowls. We will distribute rice bowl banks in an effort to collect loose change to send to Africa and Haiti to feed orphaned and impoverished children. We are asking those sorors that work at schools or would like your church to assist us with this endeavor, to please contact our committee so that we can give you bowls to distribute. All bowls MUST be returned back to IAI by the April Chapter meeting on April 18, 2020. We thank you in advance for your cooperation with this activity. IF YOU STILL HAVE A RICE BOWL FROM LAST SORORITY YEAR, PLEASE BRING IT TO CHAPTER MEETING!! Our committee will also be donating money to several organizations, sponsored through the National Headquarters, in the name of Gary Alumnae. —Shalonda N. Jones POLITICAL AWARENESS AND INVOLVEMENT: The PA & A participated in the G.C.C.C. 2020 Census Kickoff at the Genesis Convention Center. The partnership consisted of the Mayor of Gary, Urban League, NAACP, Edgewater, Civic leaders, Community Organizations, AKA Sorority and many more. The committee rolled out information and talked about the impact of the Census to the Citizens of Gary.
