Eleanor received a Lord Bea- verbrook scholarship to University of New Brunswick in 1948, at a time when few women attended. She left in 1949, to care for her mother, who died in 1952. Eleanor joined the RCAF after her mother’s death. She met William Alexander Taylor, also of the RCAF in Clinton, in 1952. They married in 1953. 3 children followed. Margaret (1954). Heather (1957). Brian (1959). The family moved around Canada and France, during the Cold War, arriving in North Bay in 1967. Eleanor entered Teacher’s College at 37, winning the gold medal.
