APCMC Ltd is seeking to appoint a Parish Centre Managers/DPS at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Centre, Liverpool. The primary function of this role is to ensure the successful day-to-day operational management of the Parish Centre in line with Company policy and procedure. Reporting to an Area Manager, the successful candidate would be responsible for leading a team of staff in the delivery of functions and celebrations along with ensuring a positive customer/visitor experience is provided for existing and new customers. This is a diverse and hands-on role with the Parish Centre Manager being active behind the bar during daytime and evening functions as well as developing the Parish Centre’s potential for function business.

Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Centre Pirrie Road, Aintree, Liverpool, L9 6AA 44 hours per week £23,000 - £26,000 per annum

Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Centre is a thriving parish centre in the local community of Aintree. The centre is very busy with an extremely successful function business. It will be run as a managed food outlet and the successful candidate must have the skills and experience to prepare, control and organize up to 8 functions per week, including wedding breakfasts. You will work with the existing Assistant Manager and staff to maintain the reputation of the business. The Centre is open daily offering lunch and bar snack style menus. A particular requirement of the new manager will be to promote the food/catering available and to promote activities undertaken by local groups within the parish centre.

Previous experience of working in the license trade for this role is essential. Applicants must be able to demonstrate they also meet the criteria below;

 Licence trade experience, preferably in a managerial role  Function and food management experience  Supervising, engaging and training staff to the highest and consistent standards  Flexibility to work full time including evenings, weekends and bank holidays  Ability to implement successful business plans, manage budgets and control costs  Must be a motivated, loyal and stable performer with excellent interpersonal skills.

Hours of Work Full Time, 44 per week to include key trading times (evenings/weekends/ bank holidays, additional hours as required to meet the needs of the business)

Terms Satisfactory completion of a six month probationary (or trial period for internal candidates)

Salary £23,000 – £26,000 dependent upon experience and skills Bonus scheme available plus 6% matched contributory pension scheme

Purpose of Job

To provide overall general management of the Parish Centre within the guidelines laid down by the Company including bar management, large and smaller function service levels and management of staff ensuring all budgets, financial, licence and legal requirements are achieved and maintained.

General Business Responsibilities

1 To ensure that as parish centre manager you undertake full responsibility for the day to day management of the parish centre and all its activities, whilst ensuring that relevant members of staff understand their own areas of responsibility.

2 In liaison with the assistant manager, ensure that the bar is operated in an efficient, legal, professional and friendly manner at all times so as to attract trade, welcome new members, encourage customer loyalty and operate as a viable business.

3 In liaison with the assistant manager, to manage stock and club equipment so as to conform to current Health and Safety and Food Hygiene legislation, brewery and company standards.

4 Maintain safe food handling practice’s including food temperature records at critical points, cleaning rotas, and effective stock control.

5 Ensure that all orders, records and deliveries are undertaken within Company guidelines. Additionally and in liaison with the bar manager oversee that sufficient bar stock, cleaning materials and other stocks are ordered within company guidelines and from approved suppliers.

6 Ensure the Parish Centre is at all times, kept in a clean and tidy condition, both inside and out so as to observe current legislation, attract trade, encourage customer loyalty and operate as a viable business. 7 Ensure that all intruder alarms are correctly armed whenever the Parish Centre is locked up.

8 In liaison with the assistant manager ensure the bar is well presented, stocked and products are effectively displayed and rotated so as to maximise sales opportunities and profitability, encourage customer loyalty and instil confidence in customers.

9 To ensure that all functions are booked, recorded and managed in accordance with the required company service levels. To deliver consistently and professionally the level of function business to maintain and grow business without compromise of standards and reputation.

Cash and Stock Related Responsibilities

1 To make certain that all cash on site is handled and kept secure at all times, ensuring accurate records regarding cash takings and cash kept are maintained and in accordance with the guidelines and procedures laid down in the cash handling policy and other company procedural documents

2 Ensure that all cash is banked at the appropriate times to ensure adherence at all times to the rules relating to cash allowed on site as stipulated by the insurers.

In conjunction with the assistant manager accept responsibility for, cash floats and cash takings within 3 the guidelines and procedures laid down in the cash handling policy and other procedural documents.

4 To make certain that all staff members are fully trained in up to date and compliant cash procedures in accordance with the cash handling policy on a regular basis ensuring the security of cash at all times.

Staff Management Responsibilities

1 To engage, supervise, train, and monitor the performance of new and existing staff whilst observing current employment & Health and Safety legislation and Company procedures and policies.

2 Maintain accurate and up to date recruitment, employment and training records, including hours worked by staff and wages paid, ensuring all payments complies with legal requirements.

3 Plan and prepare staff rota’s in accordance with company requirements and to suit the varying trade patterns of the Parish Centre ensuing wage budgets are closely monitored.

4 Manage wage and staff costs within a predetermined budget that will be provided by the management

Licensing and Legal Responsibilities

1 Observe licensing legislation at all times and, insofar as it is possible and safe to do so, ensure members and visitors behave in a satisfactory manner.

2 Ensure that all emergency exits are kept clear at all times, all locks, chains, bolts etc. are removed and all external security shutters on emergency exit routes are open whenever persons are present on the premises.

3 At all times ensure adequate security of the premises, staff, stock and cash, that all security measures are observed and any faults or inadequacies which could affect security are reported to your employers immediately.

4 To carry out all safety checks, risk assessments, procedures, training and record keeping as required in respect to safeguarding the Health & Safety of all the centre’s users and staff and in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation

General Responsibilities

1 To conduct themselves in an orderly, honest and professional manner at all times in the undertaking of these duties and any others, which may be required from time to time.

2 Ensure that all promotional and marketing material and activity provided by the company or their agents/representatives is utilised within the appropriate timescale and to most effect to benefit the reputation and viability of the Parish Centre and for the benefit of its members and visitors. 3 Attend training courses and meetings as required and contribute to them with a positive “can do” attitude.

4 Any additional duties that may become necessary through the conduct of this role or that may be assigned from time to time, including those reasonable requests made from time to time by senior management.

Display Screen Equipment Users Section 39 of the Employee Handbooks states that employees who, following a suitable assessment, are deemed to be a Display Screen Equipment (DSE) User will be eligible to have an eye test funded by the Archdiocese of Liverpool and, where necessary, financial support towards the costs of lenses.

This post does not require the job holder to habitually use DSE as part of their normal work and therefore is not classed as a Display Screen Equipment User.

Voluntary Duties: During your employment, should you wish to engage with any activities which are deemed voluntary in nature, these must be undertaken outside of your contractual working hours as they do not form part of your employment with the Archdiocese. Examples of such voluntary duties include; counting of offertory monies, assisting at funeral services; organising pilgrimages; preparing rotas for readers and ministers of communion; supervising volunteers or any other sacristy duties.
