2018 ANNUAL GIVING REPORT LETTER FROM THE CEO Nothing can match the exhilaration of motorsports quite like the satisfaction of investing in the community. Speedway Motorsports, Inc. was established to create special memories for visitors to its world-class motorsports facilities, and to assist those in need throughout the communities close to its race tracks. Through the years, all eight of our world-class motorsports entertainment venues, in addition to our SMI Properties subsidiary, have strived to create a positive culture for future generations. We work hard to improve the livelihood of those near us by making significant charitable donations, working in area neighborhoods and volunteering to help however possible, whenever possible. In addition to our comprehensive efforts with Speedway Children’s Charities – which has distributed more than $55 million to children in need since 1982 – Speedway Motorsports and its supporters have volunteered at nonprofit organizations and shown their support through countless acts of kindness throughout the nation. Speedway Motorsports, Inc. sponsors and supports a wide range of events including galas, charitable 5K runs, dinners, and golf tournaments. In addition to substantial funding support, Speedway Motorsports’ longstanding commitment to the community has helped raise awareness for the needs of thousands of deserving organizations and their numerous causes. Speedway Motorsports endeavors to promote family-friendly values at the race track and in the community. Our employees, volunteers and countless supporters combine to build on our never-ending goal of making life more prosperous for thousands of people. It is with this in mind that we present to you this Annual Report, which provides a detailed look at our numerous community involvement efforts over the past calendar year. CHARITABLE SUPPORT 2018 Total $1,112,500 Charitable support includes donations to local organizations and groups from each of our speedways. Donations may be monetary or in the form of event tickets or souvenir items that can be used for an auction or raffle to raise money at their events. Charity dinners, galas, golf tournaments, 5Ks and many other types of charity events that directly support the organizations also benefit from charitable support of Speedway Motorsports. 06 Speedway Motorsports, Inc. COMMUNITY GIVE BACK 2018 Total $2,080,900 Community give back is the monetary donation we make to nonprofit organizations, church groups, sports teams, school or student organizations, and any other organization who receives a donation in return for their volunteers working during our events. These groups may be parking cars, working concession stands, scanning tickets, checking bags, driving trams or shuttles, ushering in the stands, or working in many other areas that directly reach our fans on event day. Their organizations use the money raised to fund their individual group efforts throughout the year. 07 Speedway Motorsports, Inc. EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERS 2018 Total 5,674 HOURS Speedway Motorsports encourages its staff to get involved in their local communities. There are hundreds of employees who give back by donating their time to local charities and non-profit organizations. This is the time our employees spent reading to children in schools, sorting items at food banks, improving local non-profit locations through site beautification and so much more. 08 SPEEDWAY CHILDREN’S CHARITIES 2018 Total $3,020,000 Speedway Children's Charities was founded by O. Bruton Smith, Executive Chairman of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. and Sonic Automotive Inc., as a memoriam and legacy to his son, Bruton Cameron Smith. After losing his young child, Smith became passionate about helping children in need. “Our sole concern is to help a child in need,” says Smith. SCC grew into a national effort in 1982, expanding to eight chapters nationwide. Through the years, SCC has funded thousands of organizations and impactved the lives of millions of children across America.
