2 Stones in the hands of an Anointer - September 13, 2014 ver. 1.3 Ireland is home to 2 stones of great significance. Both are connected to the bible but both stones do not share the same path. Both reside in the county of Meath (the red arrow to the right is pointing to Meath county) The first stone was born an evil stone. From under that stone the tentacles of evil have slithered and creped their evil influences worldwide. Its success of spreading over the past 2 millenniums has been to cloak itself as fun and harmless while being rotten to the core. It’s Trojan horse tactic has allowed all defenses to drop in order to slip into the minds of Christians. Evil has been declared good as it states in Is5:20. KJV Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! This stone of evil wasn't in any of the tour books that I read or any online must see spots in Ireland. It was highlighted in the local county advertisement magazine and it was only 20 minutes from where we were staying. This was the spot for us to visit and anoint in order to break the curse flowing out from that ground. The second stone was used as a kingdom stone. The stone was a standard kingdom stone for centuries until destiny, prophecy and a prophet intervened and transformed that stone about 2,500 years ago into a prophetic kingdom stone. -

List of Irish Mountain Passes The following document is a list of mountain passes and similar features extracted from the gazetteer, Irish Landscape Names. Please consult the full document (also available at Mountain Views) for the abbreviations of sources, symbols and conventions adopted. The list was compiled during the month of June 2020 and comprises more than eighty Irish passes and cols, including both vehicular passes and pedestrian saddles. There were thousands of features that could have been included, but since I intended this as part of a gazetteer of place-names in the Irish mountain landscape, I had to be selective and decided to focus on those which have names and are of importance to walkers, either as a starting point for a route or as a way of accessing summits. Some heights are approximate due to the lack of a spot height on maps. Certain features have not been categorised as passes, such as Barnesmore Gap, Doo Lough Pass and Ballaghaneary because they did not fulfil geographical criteria for various reasons which are explained under the entry for the individual feature. They have, however, been included in the list as important features in the mountain landscape. The Mast of Macha: the Celtic Irish and the War Goddess of Ireland
Catherine Mowat: Barbara Roberts Memorial Book Prize Winner, 2003 THE 'MAST' OF MACHA THE CELTIC IRISH AND THE WAR GODDESS OF IRELAND "There are rough places yonder Where men cut off the mast of Macha; Where they drive young calves into the fold; Where the raven-women instigate battle"1 "A hundred generous kings died there, - harsh, heaped provisions - with nine ungentle madmen, with nine thousand men-at-arms"2 Celtic mythology is a brilliant shouting turmoil of stories, and within it is found a singularly poignant myth, 'Macha's Curse'. Macha is one of the powerful Morrigna - the bloody Goddesses of War for the pagan Irish - but the story of her loss in Macha's Curse seems symbolic of betrayal on two scales. It speaks of betrayal on a human scale. It also speaks of betrayal on a mythological one: of ancient beliefs not represented. These 'losses' connect with a proposal made by Anne Baring and Jules Cashford, in The Myth of The Goddess: Evolution of an Image, that any Goddess's inherent nature as a War Goddess reflects the loss of a larger, more powerful, image of a Mother Goddess, and another culture.3 This essay attempts to describe Macha and assess the applicability of Baring and Cashford's argument in this particular case. Several problems have arisen in exploring this topic. First, there is less material about Macha than other Irish Goddesses. Second, the fertile and unique synergy of cultural beliefs created by the Celts4 cannot be dismissed and, in a short paper, a problem exists in balancing what Macha meant to her people with the broader implications of the proposal made by Baring and Cashford. -

A Review of Ireland’s Immortals: A History of the Gods of Irish Myth Mark Williams, Ireland’s Immortals: A History of the Gods of Irish Myth (Princeton, N.J.: Princeton University Press, 2016), hardback, pp. xvi+578, ISBN 9781400883325. Reviewed by Clare Downham he purpose of Mark Williams’s book is “to trace the divinities of Irish mythology—most frequently known as the Túatha Dé Danann […] from the Early Middle Ages through to the present” (xiii). The author Twrites as a literary critic rather than a historian, and this explains both the book’s strengths as well as its weaknesses. There is a sophisticated awareness in the book that the divine characters of literature bear a tenuous relationship with the gods of pre-Christian Ireland, and the representation of deities reflects the cultural mores of each passing generation. -

American Halloween: Enculturation, Myths and Consumer Culture Shabnam Yousaf Quaid I Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan Abstract The cultish festival of Halloween is encultured through mythology and has become a hybrid consumer culture in the American society. Historiographical evidences illustrate that how it was being Christianized in the 9th century CE and transformed a Pagan Northern-European religious tradition from its adaptation to the enculturation process by the early church, to remember the dead in tricking and treating manners. This paper will illuminate the intricate medieval history of Celtic origins of Halloween, etymology of Samhain festival, rites of passages and the religious rituals practicing in America regarding Halloween that how it evolved from paganism to Neo-paganism and hybridized through materialist glorification from mythology to consumer culture. The mid of 19th century witnessed the arrival of Samhain rituals in America with the displacement of Irish population. Presently, this festival is infused with the folk traditions and carnivals. The trajectory penetrates its roots from discourse to practical implications, incorporated in American culture and became materialized. To assess and analyze the concoction of mythology, enculturation into culturally materialized form and developed into a consumer culture, This paper will take the assistance from Marvin Harris ‘Cultural Materialism’, to seek the behavioral and mental superstructure of the American social fabric for operationalizing the connections and to determine the way forward to explore the rhetorical fabricated glorification of consumer culture inculcated through late-capitalism, will be assessed by Theodore Adorno’s theoretical grounds of ‘The Culture Industry’. This article will re-orientate and enlighten the facts and evolving processes practicing in the American society and inquire that how the centuries old mythologies are being encultured and amalgamated with the socio-cultural, religious and economic interests. -

Iffa and Offa including comments on Lios versus Ráth. [ needs some editing!] Iffa and Offa were once two distinct baronies i.e. barony is a concept of land divisioning which derives from the 12th century Norman Conquest. After the conquest these two baronies were united into one. The sizes and shapes of baronies changed over time due to various forms of land transactions. How large were the baronies of Iffa and Offa originally? What were these land areas prior to the Norman Conquest? Were they clan or tribelands with distinct identities? What local Irish nobilities had them as patrimonies before the advent of the Normans? Were they the clan lands of two peoples called Uíbh (Uí) Eoghain and Uíbh (Uí) Fhathaidh? The known distribution for souterrains fro counties Tipperary and Limerick are to a large extent in South Tipperary north of the Suir river i.e. Iffa and Offa, and in South East County Limerick with some of Tipperary’s Clanwilliam barony above it. The Limerick distribution is focussed in the barony of Coshlea spreading north into Small County barony. In this area of the county are the Galtee Mountains, Sliabh Reagh, The Harps of Cliu, Cush (site of an early Christian settlement on a Bronze Age cemetery) and Knockainey site of an ancient aonach (festival). The distribution spreads across lands which contain the above and the distribution spreads eastwards to the eastern foothills of the Galtee Mountains. Below the Galtees lie the Knockmealdown Mountains in the plain of the Golden Vale. This district where four counties meet i.e.
