The settlement is characterised by the woodland setting of Balmedie House and the long sand beaches of Balmedie Country Park. Balmedie is a key settlement in both the Energetica area and the Aberdeen to Peterhead strategic growth area (SGA). As such, Balmedie will play an important role in delivering strategic housing and employment allowances. In line with the vision of Energetica, it is expected that new development in Balmedie will contribute to transforming the area into a high quality lifestyle, leisure and global business location. Balmedie is expected to become an increasingly attractive location for development as the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route reaches completion and decreases commuting times to Aberdeen. It is important that the individual character of the village is retained in the face of increased demand. The village currently has a range of services and facilities, which should be sustained during the period of this plan. In addition, the plan will seek to improve community facilities, including new health care provision.

Local Government and Communities Directorate Planning and Architecture Division T: 0131-244-0237 E: [email protected] Email to Heads Of Planning ___ 3 March 2020 COMMERCIAL PEAT EXTRACTION SITES IN SCOTLAND You may recall that in my letter of 6 November 2019 I indicated that I would be writing to you again to seek your assistance on improving our understanding around commercial peat extraction in Scotland The Scottish Government recognises the important role peatlands play in responding to the global climate emergency and its ability to lock away carbon. This information request stems from the Scottish Government’s Programme for Government commitment to seek to phase out the use of horticultural peat, and we wish to gain an overall picture of the scale of commercial peat extraction in Scotland at this time. Specifically, we wish to understand the current volume of peat extraction and timescales around when planning permission is due to expire. I appreciate that information pertaining to planning consent for commercial peat extraction is likely to, in certain cases, date back quite some time. Nevertheless, I would be grateful for your support in completing a short survey, as far as possible, for each site within your planning authority. Based on information from BRITPITS, produced by British Geological Survey, we have identified sites across Scotland related to peat extraction along with what we understand to be the current status of those sites. (See Annex A). For those authorities with sites identified in Annex A, I would be grateful if you could complete the survey in Annex B for each relevant site.

  • Thursday 11Th June, 2020 Dear Parents
Thursday 11th June, 2020 Dear Parents / Carers Head Teachers across the Meldrum Cluster are working together to plan for the return to school in August. From the 15th June, we will have small groups of staff accessing our school buildings to plan and implement these arrangements. Although digital/online learning will continue during this time, there will be less online support available on the days when staff are in school. It is appreciated that we will all have many questions about the months ahead. Here are some of the facts that we are certain our ‘new normal’ will look like across the Meldrum Cluster: • Each school will have to reduce the size of classes and reduce the number of pupils in school at any one time. • Each school will have to keep children in the same small groups during their time in school. • Each school will need to put in place clear protocols/timings for drop offs and pick-ups at the beginning and end of the school day. • Each school will need to increase the frequency of cleaning. • Each school will need to reduce the use of shared items and equipment in class and utilise outdoor space to provide educational experiences. Details outlining school transport arrangement and school lunch arrangements are still being finalised. For clarification, no pupils will be expected to return to Meldrum Cluster Primary Schools before the summer holidays. All pupils will be given the opportunity at some point from 11th August and during August to experience time in school. This does mean that some of our new Primary 1 pupils will not be able to visit the school prior to August.

  • TBC Tarves and Barthol Chapel
Tarves and Barthol Chapel Quarterly Newsletter TBC March 2021 Issue 56 www.tolquhon-gallery.co.uk 2 Hello everyone Welcome to this online edition of the March 2021 TBC newsletter. Under present Covid-19 health/safety circumstances, we can’t unfortunately print and deliver as usual, but hope you’ll take the time to read it in a different way. All going well, our youngest age groups of village children will be back at school/nursery on Mon- day 22 February for more than the standard practice of education. There are old friendships to renew and new friendships to create, games times, assembly times, break times and school lunch hour, all of which provide the time to redevelop what they have missed over the periods of lock- down. We as adults, know what it feels like to maintain our friendships through phone calls, WhatsApp, Zoom and the ultimate ‘write a letter to a friend’. Children are sociable little souls, if there is someone in the playpark they’ll play together, and only at the end of playtime will they find out each other’s names. It’s been a pleasure to be out in the village and see children making the most of daylight and playtime – and a well done to the parents for taking them and waiting in the frequently cold days just so they could be outside burning off unspent energy. I have 2 grandsons who live in the East Midlands and both miss school and friendships hugely My contact with them is via Royal Mail and Zoom – now this is where children’s IT skills show me up.

Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan 2013 Development Plan Scheme 1 Introduction In 2012 Aberdeenshire Council adopted the first Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan. This Development Plan Scheme sets out what our programme is for the preparation of the next Local Development Plan and associated Supplementary Guidance, and how and when businesses, landowners and communities can become involved in their preparation. The process of developing the Local Development Plan is one that takes several years and involves stages associated with: • the publication of a Main Issues Report, an opportunity to consider future options; • a Proposed Plan that builds on this and sets out Aberdeenshire Council’s settled view of where and when development should take place; • an examination into representations made to that plan; and finally • adoption of the plan itself. During 2013 we anticipate completing the first of these stages, the publication of the Main Issues Report. 2 Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan 2013 Development Plan Scheme 2 The Development Plan The current Development Plan for Aberdeenshire Council also occasionally publishes Planning Advice. is the Aberdeen City and Shire Structure Plan This is non-binding guidance associated with the (August 2009) and the Aberdeenshire Local implementation of policies in the plan. • Meldrum School Newsletter May 2020
Meldrum School Newsletter May 2020 August Return Thank you for your patience as we plan for our return to school in August. As you will appreciate, planning and preparation for the safe return of over 500 children and staff is a complex process and requires detailed planning, taking into consideration guidance from the Scottish Government, Aberdeenshire Council and the NHS. In our plans for our return, we have many aspects to consider, particularly the need for social distancing. Other aspects which require consideration in our planning include enhanced hygiene considerations and cleaning, school transport, arrangements for break and lunch time, toilet arrangements, corridor arrangements, pick up/drop off arrangements and use of equipment. It is important to note that, for logistical reasons, plans for August will look different in each school. From August, children will experience a mix of face to face teaching in school and remote learning at home. Learning in school next session will initially take place in smaller Bubble Groups. As we plan these Bubble Groups, we will endeavour to ensure that siblings across P1-7 attend school on the same days. As per previous communication to nursery parents from Aberdeenshire Council Early Years Team, the number of nursery sessions we are able to offer will also be reduced. I appreciate that these changes to school life will mean that families need to make adjustments to work and childcare arrangements. These alternative arrangements are paramount to the health and safety of all in our school community and are only temporary. We look forward to getting back to a more normal way of working as soon as it is safe to do so.
