South Ayrshire – CashBack Outcomes: Case Studies CashBack has made a huge difference to the lives of young people. We have captured information on individual case studies for CashBack partners which demonstrate the impact delivery activities have had to those participating. These can be accessed on the CashBack website at http://www.cashbackforcommunities.org/ Troon Youth Centre is an established youth group and a focus for young people in the area and has been part funded through the CashBack Small Grants Scheme. The CashBack grant was aimed at the P7 – S4 clubs. Young people reported how they ‘looked forward to being in P7 and getting to go to the youth groups’ and parents reported ‘It is the only thing in the area for young people’. The CashBack grant was used to support training weekends for young people to develop their committee skills and confidence, and to create opportunities for recognising young people’s achievements through for example an Annual Celebration and Burns Night Supper. The groups used Youth Scotland’s – Bored Meetings resource pack and involved older young people in training the younger new committee members. As a result of the commitment to getting young people actively involved in the youth group committees, young people have gone on to represent the group at the Community Council and the local Youth Forum. basketballscotland, through the funding received from CashBack, have been able to support Ayr Storm, the local basketball club. Eight clubs across Scotland, including Ayr Storm, were able to participate in the Club Development programme by engaging with local primary schools to establish U12 sessions for both boys and girls at the clubs. This has resulted in over 26 schools being involved with the programme and pupils joining the club to ensure sustained participation in the sport. Taster sessions have been organised which has enabled a significant number of young people to try the sport who otherwise wouldn’t have. This involved a one hour session weekly for 6 weeks and funding also allowed the club to provide schools with balls and other essential equipment. Over 400 pupils across 8 primary schools took part in the Future Starz programme. “CashBack has given us the opportunity to hit the ground running and given us an excellent start. We are very grateful for the support basketballscotland and CashBack has given so far” – Laura Nisbet, Coach at Ayr Storm.
