From the desk of JIM S JOYCE KELLY, NNJSDA PRESIDENTS The 1990-y1 season is off to another fun-filled year. Our Wednesday night summer dances were a huge success, with over 20 squares attending each dance. The Summer Attendance Award will be presented to Y Squares by the NNJSDA Executive Board at one of their club dances. Thank you Y Squares for your support. L.U.S.T., although low in attendance, was a very special day for those dancers who were able to attend. We not only learned a good deal more about the square dance world, but had a lot of fun. To top off the day, John Kaltenthaler called a great Mainstream/Plus dance. Our sincere thanks to all who worked with the Aquinos to bring L.U.S.T. to you, and a big thank you to Bill & Donna Anderson who were responsible for the Blood Drive. Classes are well underway. Please support the new dancers by angeling" as much as you can. The benefits you and your club receive will he well worth the of Perhaps you may want to think about working with your class instructor to plan raids on other classes. it f&r -s-ttrtierrts to meet ether stu eras. You can then plan on a reunion at the Mid-Term Student Dance held in January. On November 30, at the Jim Hayes Special, we will be honoring the retired Editors of Gkand Squake, Doc & Peg Tirrell, for 25 dedicated years of hard work. Please join us in giving them the THANK YOU they deserve and earned. John Toll will be cueing rounds. As we end the old year and get ready to welcome in the new, we once again thank all our square dance friends for their friendship through the years. On behalf of the NNJSDA Executive Board, we wish everyone a happy and safe Holiday Season and a very prosperous New Year. See you in a square! L.U.S.T. '90 (Let Us Speak Together) was attended by 108 dancers, 14 officers and 32 staff members. We are only sorry that more people did not avail themselves of this very informative event. Perhaps if the next L.U.S.T. session was held later in the fall season, after the clubs resumed their dances, the attendance might be better. The individual L.U.S.T. sessions were full of interested participants. The program highlights were as follows: Administration: ctressed the role of the executive board. functions and officer development as well as contracts, halls, and inter-club relat!onships. Classes: covered recruitment, workshops and working together with other clubs. Club Publicity: how to make flyers, ads and what information they should contain. Finances: explained the role of the Treasurer, the need for good record keeping and how to break even. How to Use a Microphone: gave everyone a chance to overcome their fright of the mike. Insurance: discussed the whys and wherefores of insurance and the need for incorporation. From Class to Club: gave us ideas on how to retain the new dancers. Singles: just where do they fit into the square dance picture? How to Hire a Caller/Cuer: discussed types of contracts and how to work along with the caller/cuer. All About Rounds: how rounds fit into the square dance program. Esprit DeCorps: presented ways to generate interest, gave ideas for dance themes, hospitality, and door prizes. Sew What?: many helpful sewing hints were shared by the group during this session. Computers in S/D: gave insight on how to do flyers, membership lists, attendance records, and computer squares. And last but not least, Let's Talk: a great give-and-take discussion that could have gone on forever. Blood Bank: there were 46 dancers and 13 local residents who donated blood during the day. Many thanks to the well-prepared speakers for conducting the sessions: Frank/Allana Barr; Larry Davenport; Rose Erickson; Bill Heyman; Fred/Kathryn Hill; John/Freddie Kaltenthaler; Jean Koenig; Greg/Karen Kushla; Linda Millian; Pat/Bernie Monsen; Charlie/Kathy Porter; Frank Riviccio; Ken/Helena Robinson; Leo/Rose Rogers; Doc/Peg Tirrell; Dick/Shirley White; Andy Woerner; Bob/Gloria Wyman many of whom also gave blood. Many, many thanks to Donna/Bill Anderson for organizing and running the Blood Bank. John Kaltenthaler also called the evening's dance and his duet with Larry Davenport was a knock-out. Thanks to Registrars, Norman/Susan Reid; to Joe Passaro who was always around when needed; and to the Whites who were in charge of the dance. Last but not least to John/Mary Aquino, Co-Chairpersons, who always do a great job! Betty (Mien

6 BLOOD BANK Color me RED, white, blue, and HAPPY all over! You did it! We got (just) enough donors at LUST to keep our Blood Bank in operation for another year. Although Richmond Dancers once again had the highest percentage of donors (7.2%), the first aid kit will be presented to Y Squares (7.0%). (A club can only use one first aid kit at a time!) Congratulations and thank you to all our first time donors - we hope to see you again at our next drive. Remember, you don't have to wait for NNJSDA to sponsor a drive to donate - just use our # (9192) and get the top of the form to Donna Anderson (see page 2). How about a little friendly competition among the clubs? How about one square of donors from each club?

Y Squares members have been really involved with raids and attending Association dances. Wouldn't it be nice if all clubs would send at least one square to the Association Specials? The dancers would have a good time and we would have a packed hall. Check our ads; we have some interesting dances planned for the coming months. We'll be looking for you, so all of you come and dance at Y Squares. See you in a square. (Ad on page 10,20) Jean Koenig 201-276-8049

W/W '90-'91 excitement has begun! First, special thanks to W/W members who helped at the Petruska Park summer workshop; truly a S/D labor of love! Andy Woerner provided a fun-filled intro to our S/D season at the Warm Up dance. Ask the Schlegels about their exciting trip to England; especially that plane trip and--a-- Ai / T- 4 half back! Shirley Sherlock, heal etN Rtipz-zz that broken foot fast. We miss you Two W/W, the Rogers (Administration) and the Wymans (Esprit de Corps), were outstanding speakers at L.U.S.T. Great S/D information and talent is revealed at these sessions. We salute our Presidents, the Roger s, for coordinating the "RICHARD LANE SPECIAL" and special it was. 14 squares were "kept dancing" smoothly to this fabulous caller's clever maneuvers. The Hohmanns were presented with a 40th Ann. balloon. All 3 danced an Ann. Waltz! The kitchen buzzed with the Schlegels, Taffels and those "helping hands." 07840 201 -852-2868 Summer is over and here we are back in the swing again. Four squares showed up for our Open House with Dick Pasvolsky. Seven people signed up for class and hopefully we will get the 12 that we need. Our class instructor will be Herb Conklin. Our President, Doc wasser, is slowly getting back to dancing after back surgery in early August. Seven of our members attended LUST: Presidents, Doc/Esther Wasser; VPs, Bob/Ella Yager; Secys, Sue/Bob Stone; and Class Coord., Peg Pensack. They came back full of enthusiasm and knowledge. We will be having a Halloween Dance (which will be over by the time this comes out); a Thanksgiving Dance (pie & ice cream for all); a Christmas Dance (ALL STUDENTS ADMITTED FREE); and a New Year's Dance. Hope you can join us. Until next time,

This summer was "Demo" summer for Valley Squares! The committee had • wundrful LoupeldLiun 'foul out members who danced all over the area spreading the good word about Square Dancing. Now we are waiting to see the results when we hold our first class and welcome our audiences into our activity. Carl Hanks was having as much fun as we were at our our first dance putting us through the paces with "Right & Left By, By, By," etc. Steve/Wendy Bradt are so smooth showing us the latest Rounds, that it's hard to let them sit down; just love that "show & tell" time. We are very fortunate to have such a great staff! At our Executive Board meeting last Spring, we decided on a few really Special dances. So, see our ad for full details.

Patty Connors (Ocean Waves) is the Class Coordinator and Dote Oridg Don Coy is doing a wonderful job teaching Re an Angel And plpAcp help! Our annual Barn Dance was a huge success by all accounts. We had many new faces attending and Steve Forman did a bang-up job putting everyone through the paces with teaching our guests, calling a few demo tips and the Virginia Reel. Thank you Don/Pat Seligshon for chairing this event. We want to convey Get Well wishes to Joan Newman, who is back from Florida and recovering from surgery. We will have the pleasure of her cueing at a number of dances. We really missed her! Get Well wishes also go to George Pascua, recovering from surgery. We really have a fine mix of callers for the 1990-91 season, along with our usual mix of MS and Plus dances, we have smiling faces to greet you on the floor. We have added round dancing to some of our dances. It is true that you can't fit a square peq in a round hole, but we can fit round dancers in a square club. Montville is starting late this year, but it looks to be a good one. Mary Schulien is booking callers and has a great line-up so far. Marc/Fay Korn are Treasurers and Paul/Betty Stone are helping with promotion. Marian has retired and I am reporting. The program has been changed to C-2. Many of the couples involved have been dancing C-2 and the opportunity to add this program in the Northern NJ area without reducing C-1 available dance time presented itself. THE DESIRED EFFECT (I hope), MORE DANCE TIME -- LESS TRAVEL TIME. I plan as much C-1 and more C-2 as a result. Well, we thought our slate of Ca officers was all set when the news came that Bob/Joan Dague, our Presidents, were moving back to Michigan! Although we are unhappy at losing such a great couple, we are pleased about Bob's work promotion and wish them all the best. We know that the square the Dauges with open arms. Happily, Bill/Hilda Groth, our VPs, have stepped forward to fill the top spot and did a grand job at our first dance. Now, all we need is a couple for the VPs slot. Our opening dance was very well attended and it was good to see the dancers having such a fun-filled evening topped off with the delicious farewell cake the Groths brought for Joan, who left the next morning to join Bob in Michigan. Between tips, we caught up with one another's news and chatted with Nancy Remington, who still cannot dance but came to socialize. Our caller, Joe Landi, was in top form and this promises to be a great season. Why not join us? The transition of the G,Land Squate from Doc/Peg to Charlie/Kathy seems to have gone very smoothly judging from the last issue. Keep up the good work! Ed/IAZ5 Zimany 201-267-1917

Classes are just underway and it is too early to determine the class size. After one year of Wednesday night class, we have gone back to Thursday at the request of our Angels. Angels may earn free dance passes for participating in several class sessions as well as meet the new Merri Eights. We shall miss Burt/Susan Caplan, who have forsaken NJ in favor of retirement country in Florida. If anybody knows what Burt is retiring from, please let me know. I told them that we would be happy to stay at their place during our two-week winter vacation, but I needed their address. I must have misunderstood because I thought they said something about 100 miles east of Miami. All in one week we held our Annual Picnic (where a super, albeit chilly, time was had by all), a successful Open House, and our Welcome Back dance with Betsy Gotta. There's lots more fun in store for everyone at all future dances. It's going to be a great year! A special note: due to the huge success of Rounds at Lakeland, the Spinks will be adding the 4th Tues. to their schedule, with Lois Bichler moving her lines to the 3rd Tues. Okay Sy, enough is enough! Please don't scare us like that EVER again. Get well as fast as you can and STAY THAT WAY this time! We want you back with us as soon as possible. A warm "welcome back" to Lorraine & Les. Special thanks are in order to our delegate, Carol Ridings, for all that she has done for us: our new schedule cards, super fall flyers, representing us at LUST and attending and reporting to us on the Delegates Meetings. 32 After seeing the Fall issue of GRAND SQUARE you know now why we felt so secure in passing the editorship over to Kathy & Charlie Porter. Our area is so fortunate to have such a hard working, capable, wonderful, dedicated-to—the-activity couple in its midst. As promised, Peg journeyed over to Staten Island and spent a Saturday in July helping the Porters adjust pages, hot wax, etc. We managed to trim the issue down from Kathy's original 60 pages to 56 (which is 3 stamps if mailed). When one is working with ads, one spends very little time reading club news or other items as it takes many hours to cut, place, and hot wax ads - not counting all the extra time needed to make the ads really camera copy. So we never really had a chance to read club news and were just as anxious as the Porters to see the first issue. But never in our wildest dreams did we ever expect that centerfold'Im And all those letters!!!! All we can humbly say is "THANK YOU." GRAND SQUARE was a labt,r of love f ur du dutiviLy we both thoroughly enjoyed. lo us, the square dance activity is like a link in a chain of friendship all over the world. How true the line - "All that we send into the lives of others comes back into our own." Our most often asked question, "What are you doing with al 1 that spare time now that you are not editing GRAND SQUARE?" Answer: As Executive Secretary of ROUNDALAB, whose membership grew from 512 when we became Executive Secretary in January of '84 to 929 Teaching Units in 1990, plus doubling of the activities and publications of the organization, you can guess where the spare time goes. And yes, we still plan to remain active in the NNJSDA area. We were fortunate to find such a replacement. A quesLion for you now - If you are a leader - WHO are you training to take YOUR place? May your corner always be there to meet you!

We were very sorry to hear that on her doctor's orders, Ann/Vic Musso were forced to give up square dancing. Ann decided to donate all their square dancing clothes to the club to dispose of them in some way that would benefit the club or square dancing in general. That's the way Vic/Ann are, always doing sometning to help the club and J&M SQS square dancing. It was decided that we would sell the clothes and donate all the monies to the Paul Brody Scholarship Fund. That started a chain reaction (no pun) with others wanting to donate clothes they no longer needed, especially Ann Gallo who donated a large number of dresses and other square dance apparel. If your club has a favorite charity or is trying to raise money to support your club, this is something you might consider. It will be for a worthy cause and, besides, yuu yet iu Clean out your closets. Just a reminder that starting in January 1991, J & M will be dancing 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays only from September through June. During July and August we will be dancing every Sunday. aywoo August was an interesting month; 4 callers donated their time, calling to 6 squares, to benefit the PAUL BRODY SCHOLARSHiP FUND. Callers were: Andy Woerner, Jim Broderick, Dick Mazziotti and Fran Wadel. Visiting caller, Don Coy, Ave provided an enjoyable evening for 5 squares during our club caller's absence. Cal 1 er ' s spouse, George Loewenstein, is incoming President of their local synagogue and conflicts DO arise. Besides, it's fun to hear a new voice and see a new face. Come back again, Don. The arrival of granchild #9 didn't stop Dot/George from enjoying the group S/D trip to England, Scotland and Wales in August. Of course, they would have preferred to meet Manny/Gail Amor for dinner in Lakewood rather than as "guests" of British Airlines #185 which lost an engine in the mid- Atlantic! In August, Phil Hammer/Roz Guerriero joined the square dancers of the Binghamton, NY area for their annual 3-hour demo at the Johnson City, NY Mall. Every year the Binghamton clubs use this demo to obtain new students for their fall class. We successfully started our season in Sept. with some wonderful calling by Michael Johnstone, the White Knight, and received our One Square is Fair Award (Ad on page 31 ) Phil Hawn. 201-743-0985 The Sept. 9th issue of Minrictn'S Day featured an article on June Schlosser and her "Petticoats on Wheels" square dance shop. June is a 64-year-old grandmother from Brownsville, OR, who drives her 60-foot rig 20,000 miles a year. She spends weekends at dance festivals throughout the Northwest and is booked years in advance. During the week, her husband, Robert, helps with paperwork and shipping. They have been married for 26 years and have 6 grown children. The Schlossers have been square dancing since the '50s and June started her business in 1978. She hopes that Robert will be her partner on the road as soon as he retires. "This isn't just a job, I feel like I'm a special part of square dancing," she says.

Summer went by too quickly for some of us, but the good news is that we can go back to dancing on a regular basis. For Cloverleafs members, it meant waiting until October for the first dance of the season. As usual, we have a variety of excellent callers and our faithful cuers. Doc/Peg Tirrell. Many of our members went CLOVERLEAFS away to local or far away exotic lands. Some like Gloria/Bob Wyman were able to square dance to British and Scottish callers. Our Presidents, Connie/John went to the NSDC in Memphis, TN and had a terrific time. Also, with other active NJ Garden State Campers, they went to the Sussex Fairgrounds in September. As the temperature goes down and the leaves slowly turn yellow and red, we cannot help but think about the holidays. So, we wish you much happiness, good health, good dancing and, of course, PEACE. RED ROSE EXHIBITION TEAM The RED ROSE Exhibition Team is a group of local area square dancers who have joined together with Ile SpeLi iL yudl of pruMutTng and prelervin y Syuara dancing as the wonderful recreational activity that we all know it to be. Our dancers represent membership in about half of the member clubs of the NNJSDA. Our intent is to serve and work with the Association and its member clubs to assist in attracting new dancers to the classes of the member clubs. The way that we hope to do this is by providing square dance performances for non-dancers wherever and whenever it seems appropriate to do so. We are not looking to replace demos done by our local area clubs, but rather to supplement demos in situations where it seems appropriate to do so. We are not a club in the traditional sense. We do not hold dances or hire callers. We have practice sessions on the first, third and fifth Mondays of each month, September through May. Our dancers cone to our practice sessions to work on our presentations. We have developed highly stylized, precisely timed, smooth dance routines for presentation to the general public. We build our routines around basic choreography that is both simple to execute and pleasing to the eye. We use lots of circles, stars and squares. We want to show prospective dancers that square dancing is both fun and easy to do. We want to show that square dancing really is dancing and that it can be done with style and energy at the same time. All of the members of our team auditioned in order to be on the team. We chose dancers who demonstrated the ability to dance smoothly with style, timing and energy. We think that it is an important ingredient in attracting new people to square dancing. If a prospective dancer has the impression that we are having a good time, then they may believe that they might also have a good time. In addition to developing presentations for non-dancers, RED ROSE is also developing exhibitions for presentation to square dancers. We have been invited to perform at the Connecticut State Convention next March and hope to perform at the New Jersey State Convention next April. 52 From time to time callers and CAL2117g dancers express criticism of the The International Association CALLERLAB QS Program. These of Square Dance Callers criticisms range from "Why does CALLERLAB pick such lousy calls for quarterly selections?" to "Who needs these calls? We waste our time learning them and then they just go away!" Those are both good questions and the answers may help everyone to understand the reason for the program and how it operates. The QS program grew out of the square dance situation that existed when CALLERLAB was formed in the early 1970's. At that time, there were no accepted programs of square dancing but there was a nearly endless flow of proposed "new" calls. By 1974 experienced dancers had already decided they didn't like this programming technique. When they went to dances they spent the whole night learning new calls, most of which they would never hear again. It was common for callers to "teach" a half dozen calls at a Saturday night dance. The traveling callers were particularly fond of this technique and they left the local callers with the problem of explaining to the dancers why the club caller hadn't taught these calls. At the earliest CALLERLAB meeting, there were requests frum t about the flood of new calls!". The CALLERLAB response was to identify the Mainstream program. Dancers could then know what they were expected to know. At that time many people were worried that those dancers who enjoyed learning new calls -- and there were many of them -- would want to continue to experiment. Many also believed that there had to be a way for new ideas to be added to the Mainstream program. The QS program was developed to answer both of these needs. Since 1974, CALLERLAB had identified additional dance programs and the calls on these programs have changed several times. The quarterly selection procsis hr.s contributed to these rhnnges. As examples we have RECYCLE on the Mainstream program and SPIN CHAIN THE GEARS on the Plus program. Both these and many others were added through the QS program. There have been many selections in all of the programs that were less than great. But it is important to remember the other purpose of the QS program -- giving dancers who enjoy learning the chance to experiment with new calls. All quarterly selection calls, good or bad, are chosen by a majority vote of a fairly large committee. After a six month trial in the field, the entire CALLERLAB membership voted to keep or drop the QS calls. CALLERLAB has never urged callers to USE the quarterly selections. From the beginning of the program, they have been offered FOR THOSE CALLERS WHO WISH TO INCLUDE A WORKSHOP in their programs. The goal was to narrow the number of new calls that were presented so that dancers everywhere learned the same ones. The other common complaint is that some of the selections have not been good calls. That certainly is true but we should be grateful. Most people believe we have more than enough calls on our dance programs already. If all the Os were good enough to deserve a place on the lists, we could never keep the programs to a reasonable size. There is serious discussion about whether the Quarterly Selection process has outlived its usefulness. Some people are urging that we do away with the process entirely. Before we take that step we should consider how the needs that led us to establish this process will be served without it. The process does provide very strong standardization of workshop material throughout the world. It also provides a process for introducing new material into the square dance vocabulary. Without this orderly and accepted process there is a great risk that we could return to the confusion that existed prior to 1974.

By Carol Forste, Springfield, MO Feel Like In 1976, I was a happily married lady...then Yourein all of a sudden, I found myself single. Life The Boat changed. What does one do with oneself after Alone? 20 years of married life? It was a struggle. Hearing about a square dance club for singles, I decided to go see what was going on. I was scared to death that first night when I walked into that room full of strangers. But everyone was laughing, talking and hugging. The man on the microphone said, "Square up!" "What?" Someone came for me, "NO, I just came to watch." But that didn't work. I was up on my feet and so was everyone else. Then the man said "Allemande, circle, weave, promenade." Such language! I felt like a stupid idiot. Then he said, "Yellowrock!" Oh, that Wdb nice. Well before the night was over, I decided this was for me. I wanted to know everything yesterday. Now it is 1988, again I am a happily married _lady, but a SQUARE DANCER. When I think back on those 12 years I cannot begin to count all the beautiful people I have met and all the beautiful friends I have. In the beginning, square dancing was my survival. It gave me life, joy, fun, friends and a purpose. Now it's my love. To all beginners, stick in there. You have a wonderfully full life ahead of you. The door has just opened. You are a SQUARE DANCER! To the married dancers, "Remember, you are a potential single every day of your life." The singles wish to thank you for sharing your partners at times. * Reprinted from USDA News Ed'4 Note: We ake happy to nepokt that Sue Tobiazon *Amen SoZitaites members) 4:4 intetated in 6-tatting a 6ingtez dub. 55 ROUND DANCE HIGHLIGHTS The Round Dance Council lost the hall for its usual 1st Sunday in November dance so had to reschedule it for mid-October. We hope you all heard about the change in time to join us. If not, please be sure and come enjoy our spring dance. Our summer Council meeting is always a special time. We share experiences from the various workshops and schools our members attended - and always winds up with a pot luck supper. We forgot in the last report to mention that Herb Rivkin also attended the 14th ROUNDALAB Convention. All of our Council meetings now include an "education" period. This year each of our scholarship recipients will be presenting material from the teachers schools they attended. All the leaders at our meetings dance the rounds that are being considered for round-of-the-month. This gives all a better feeling of the "danceability" of the dance. Once a dance is selected the choreographer's name is revealed. September was "Starlight Waltz" by Doc & Peg Tirrell (NJ). October's was "All Shook Up" by John & Norma Becker (TX). CLOUD 9 Spinks,Mountain Lakes,NJ - Wed/Thur 201-689-3316 We dance at Wilson School. On Wed. nights we have a Phase III workshop beginning at 7. At 8:30 we do Phase III dances. On Thursdays we begin Phase IV at 7:30 t, move into Phase V at 9:30. See our ad for Round Dance party schedule, starting in November. (Ad on page 26) PRINCETON ROUNDS Rumble, Lawrence/Hamilton, NJ 201-657-0212 It was really "back to school" in September as Ron & Ree challenged us with "Mambo Five" for several weeks. RAMAPO RHYTHMAIRES Tirrell, Waldwick, NJ - Wed 201-568-5857 Our Phase III class overflows with happy couples. We've explored a little bit of rumba and are now working on the waltz figures. Spin turn, whisk, hover, telemark are no longer mysteries ... even if we aren't doing them quite right. The Phase IV class, tho small, is moving along well as we work on the ROUNDALAB Classic list. We've enjoyed "Til Tomorrow", reviewed Want A Quickstep", and have been working on "Adios". REFLECTIONS Raspa, Rutherford,NJ 201-896-1891 Sept. 17th found us welcoming a very nice and enthusiastic group anxious to learn Round Dance Basics. 62 THE GOAL IS 2,000 FOR THE 5TH NJ CONVENTION General Chairmen, Manny and Gail Amor, have set their sights on 2,000 as their attendance goal for the 5th NJ Convention to be held on SATURDAY, APRIL 13, 1991, at Trenton State College in Ewing. They have assembled a dedicated Committee from all across the State that is hard at work fine tuning the plans for a fabulous, well-organized Convention. Many callers, cuers and dance leaders from the tri-state area have already registered to provide continuous dancing from 10 AM to 10:30 PM. The square dance program will include Mainstream, Plus, Advanced and Challenge dancing and special sessions for new dancers, "Approaching Mainstream." Round dancing in all Phases has been scheduled throughout the day as well as selected hours dedicated to clogging, contra and folk dancing. The day's activities will be enhanced with several shows including clogging, heritage and square dance demonstrations, after party skits and a fashion show. There will be several Education Sessions guaranteed to interest many dancers and the Showcase of Ideas will provide information about the area dance organizations. A full compliment of vendors will offer the latest in dance fashions and accessories. The Grand March at 7 PM promises to be the most impressive event of the day. The campus snack bars will be open throughout the day to feed hungry dancers and a delicious buffet will also be featured. Several area restaurants are a short drive from the college. FREE parking for self- contained recreational vehicles (no hook-ups) will be available from Friday night to Sunday morning. There are also a number of fine hotels and motels only a short drive from the campus. Send your registration in today before the price increase takes effect! Details are available from Don & Pat Stephens, 674 Clifton Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753. Additional Convention information can be obtained from Kathy & Charlie Porter, Publicity Directors, 99 Stanley Ave, Staten Island, NY 10301 (718-448-9761).

The second shift, Dick/Shirley White, arrived about 11 AM. We discovered Shirley has a hidden talent: she's a great hot waxer! And Dick can alphabetize any mess you give him! The third shift, Leo/Lois Bichler arrived about 1:00 PM. Donna brought lunch for everyone and Lois brought munchies. The fourth shift, Karen/Greg Kushla, arrived at 6 PM just as the pizza was being delivered. The day finally ended when Karen/Greg finished proofreading at 11 PM. What a day and what great help. We even eat good. Thanks to all of our terrific helpers. Kathy 6 ChaAtie 64
