Yahoo! Movies To Unveil Special Preview Of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle LOS ANGELES -- Oct. 28, 2002 -- Yahoo! Movies, the Web's leading movie site in terms of audience size according to Nielsen//NetRatings (September 2002), will offer film fans their first glimpse of Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle five days before the trailer's debut in movie theaters. The much-anticipated preview of the Columbia Pictures movie premieres today at http://movies.yahoo.com and at http://www.sony.com/charliesangels/. The release of the trailer for Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle on Yahoo! Movies reflects a fan-driven trend emerging in the online marketplace, with 40% of all ticket-buyers hearing about a film via the Internet (NRG, 2002). Whether trailers, outtakes, extended sequences or bloopers, film buffs are seeking exclusive footage weeks or even months before the film's release date. Filmmakers are responding in recognition of growing consumer appetite for this type of content and the ultimate potential impact on ticket sales. "We're proud to host this special preview of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, already a fan favorite on our site," said Doug Hirsch, senior director of Yahoo! Movies. "Yahoo! Movies has a tremendous track record for debuting the kind of footage that gets fans excited for the film's release. We've produced over one hundred online exclusives in conjunction with Hollywood's largest film studios, but we think this will be one of our most popular previews." The Angels trailer is the latest in a series of Yahoo! Movies Exclusives, a program of pre-release content that debuted in 1999. -

Some Things and Ideas: September 2020
Some things and ideas: September 2020 Some random thoughts on articles that caught my attention in the last month. Note that I try to write notes on articles immediately after reading them, so there can be a little overlap in themes if an article grabs my attention early in the month and is similar to an article that I like later in the month. Writing earlier in the month is a particular challenge for an environment as wild as this one; for example, if I link something from early April like "Apple tells staff stores closed until early May or "Equinox won't pay April rent," by the time I post those articles in late April the information is wildly out of date (people will be more concerned with Equinox paying May rent!) even though it's super interesting! Premium / word of mouth I launched a premium YAVB in April (announcement / overview here), and we updated it (and the rest of the website) with version 2.0 in August. I've had a lot of fun doing the premium site so far; if you enjoy the free blog, I think you'll love the premium site, so I'd encourage you to subscribe. The general goal of the premium site is to post one deep look at a company and/or investment idea each month, and then do a monthly general update post (kind of like this post, but with a heavier focus on investing specific things, individual investment updates, and my thoughts on them), but it's still a work in progress! Don't feel like subscribing? No worries! However, one of the reasons frequency of posts / podcasts / other public stuff can fall off is because I look at them and wonder: "Is it really worth my time doing these for this small an audience?" A lot of work goes into all of these, and I hope that the output is generally of interest / high quality. -
Movies! Movies! Movies! There Is No End to Entertainment
Movies! Movies! Movies! There is no end to entertainment. All you need to do is cut through the lights, the camera and MOVIES the action. So simply tune in... 03 ACTING OF ACTORS Gone are the days when actresses were simply glamourous accessories to a METHOD film that otherwise belonged to the ‘hero.’ Women protagonists today don’t shy away from portraying reality; characters that require more than just a dazzle of glamour. A Times NIE report FROM TO DEGLAM DEEPIKA PADUKONE The actress plays the role of Malti in the movie ‘Lakshmi’, which is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, it stars Vikrant Massey in lead role. Padukone reportedly said she is excited about the role because it is a story that’s closest to her heart. “This is not just another project for me. After I met Lakshmi, I realised the pain and humiliation she has been living with. I wish I could portray some of that on screen. For me, the look doesn’t matter if the role is important and something that I believe in,” she told in an interview. CHECKLIST WHAT YOU LEARN FROM THESE RISK TAKERS Any person who is in show business needs to look good all the time. A lot of effort goes into how they look every day. They do so much to meet the expectations of not only the media but also their fans, even when they are not working. No matter where they are, they make it to the newspapers for being less glamourous.. -

Friday Night Lights”) and Oscar® Winner Kathy Bates (“Misery”) Star in Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros
Sandra Bullock (“The Proposal”), Tim McGraw (“Friday Night Lights”) and Oscar® winner Kathy Bates (“Misery”) star in Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Blind Side,” which depicts the remarkable true story of All-American football star Michael Oher. Teenager Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) is surviving on his own, virtually homeless, when he is spotted on the street by Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock). Learning that the young man is one of her daughter’s classmates, Leigh Anne insists that Michael—wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the dead of winter—come out of the cold. Without a moment’s hesitation, she invites him to stay at the Tuohy home for the night. What starts out as a gesture of kindness turns into something more as Michael becomes part of the Tuohy family despite the differences in their backgrounds. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. And as the family helps Michael fulfill his potential, both on and off the football field, Michael’s presence in the Tuohys’ lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. “The Blind Side” is directed by John Lee Hancock (“The Rookie”), who also wrote the screenplay based on the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis. Gil Netter, Andrew A. Kosove and Broderick Johnson produced the film with Molly Smith, Erwin Stoff and Timothy M. Bourne serving as executive producers. Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw star as Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, and Kathy Bates stars as Michael Oher’s dedicated tutor, Miss Sue. -

This letter is to inform you of the viewing requirements for our semester course. In addition, you will find explicit instructions for an assignment that is due the first day of regular classes. You are required to view two films over the summer. One film MUST be a foreign film; the other film is from the genre (i.e, action/parody/drama) of your choice. The "horror" movie that challenged the conventions of the American horror genre. .Also starring Neve Campbell, Counney Cox .Arquette, and David .Arquette. Brief cameo by Drew Barrymore. The Others (2001).- Produced by Tom Cruise and starring Nicole Kidman. Inspired by European Gothic storyielling, one woman contends with the seemingly supernatural possession of her children and home; a haunting, she feels, may be the work of the estate's staff Poltergeist (1982); Starring Tom Skerriit: The film that inn-oduced the poltergeist phenomenon to the American public. -
