Summer Concert Series at Bowdoin Park

Poughkeepsie…Dutchess County Parks Division is excited to host the 2018 Bowdoin Park Summer Concert Series in partnership with Fox WGNY 98.9FM and Dutchess Tourism. Three concerts, scheduled for July 21st, August 11th, and September 8th, will each feature several vocal groups, including , The Drifters, and The Coasters, performing chart- topping oldies hits. Early bird ticket prices are $25 per person until this Friday, June 15th ($35 starting June 16th) or $75 for all three concerts. Children under 12 are FREE. Group rates are available. Tickets can be purchased online at http://concert.foxradio.net. Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro highlighted summer concerts at county parks in the 2018 Dutchess County budget and the initiative was approved by the Dutchess County Legislature. County Executive Molinaro said, “Dutchess County Parks are part of what make us ‘Distinctly Dutchess,’ and we are grateful to Dutchess Tourism for coordinating this concert series for everyone to enjoy. These concerts are a wonderful reason for families and friends to gather for a fun evening of music and spectacular views overlooking the Hudson River.” The Bowdoin Park Summer Concert Series schedule and lineup is as follows:

• 6 p.m. Saturday, July 21st, doo-wop vocal group The Platters performing "," "You've Got That Magic Touch," "," "," and more. The Dubs and The Quotations will also perform.

• 6 p.m. Saturday, August 11th, American doo-wop, , and soul vocal group, The Drifters will perform their biggest hits such as "This Magic Moment," "Under The Boardwalk,” "Up On The Roof," and "I Second That Emotion" and will be joined by Jay Siegel’s Tokens and The Super Girls Group.

• 5 p.m. Saturday, September 8th, American rhythm and blues/ vocal group The Coasters, performing "Yakety Yak," "Charlie Brown," "Along Came Jones," "Poison Ivy" among others and will be joined by Larry Chance & The Earls and Jimmy Gallagher (the original lead singer of The Passions) featuring Acappella by Classic Sounds.

Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Gregg Pulver said, “Dutchess County is looking forward to hosting these legendary performers at one of our most scenic county parks. We welcome all to come listen to great music and view the breathtaking sunsets along the Hudson River. These concerts are a wonderful way to celebrate summer, family, friends and community!” “Dutchess Tourism is honored to work with Fox Oldies 98.9FM on the 2018 Summer Concert Series. We welcome our local community and our out of town visitors to beautiful Dutchess County to listen to popular Rhythm/Blues vocal groups which have had a significant impact on music history. They are perfect musical acts to highlight the Bandshell at Bowdoin!” said Dutchess Tourism Inc., President & CEO Mary Kay Vrba. Bowdoin Park will close to the public at 3pm with gates closing and all visitors leaving the park. Gates will open at 5pm for ticket holders for the July 21st and August 11th concerts. For the September 8th show, Bowdoin Park will close at 2pm and re-open at 4pm for ticket holders. Guests should bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating. Outside food and beverages are prohibited; refreshments will be available for purchase from Villa Borghese.

Shuttles will be available beginning at 4pm from New Hamburg train station to the park and returning to the station after the concerts. Bowdoin Park is handicapped accessible and is located at 85 Sheafe Road, Wappingers Falls. The 2018 Bowdoin Park Summer concert series is part of a wide range of programs and activities available at Dutchess County Parks. Dutchess County is currently developing a new Dutchess County Parks and Recreation Master Plan and public is encouraged to share input about park facilities and the programming offered. Residents and visitors can take part by participating in this online Parks and Recreation Community Needs Survey now through June 30th.
