Opening Day start, he provided 6.0 innings of one-run ball, a solo homer by Miguel Sano in the fourth... Date Site Score WP LP Att. all told, Duff gave up three hits and the run, with three walks and eight ...meanwhile, the KC 4/3 @ Min L, 1-7 Santana Strahm 39,615 offense was held to just three hits, with providing the lone tally with a solo homer to 4/5 @ Min 4/6 @ Min leadoff off the fourth...the loss dropped Kansas City to 17-32 in its 49 season openers, including a 5-19 ledger on the road. IN THE BIG INNING--In the beginning of the 2017 season, it was the big inning that handed Kansas City its first loss of the year, as the Royals allowed six runs in the deciding seventh inning of Monday’s defeat to the Twins...the six run frame tied for the most tallies allowed in a season opening inning, marking the third time, first since Detroit plated a half-dozen runs in the seventh inning on April 4, 2005. REMEMBERING YO--The morning of January 22, 2017 will always be remembered as one of the most tragic days in franchise history when word was received of that Yordano Ventura had his life cut short due to a car accident in his native Dominican Republic...signed as a 17-year old in 2008, the fireballing right- hander compiled a 38-31 during his abbreviated Major League career...“Ace” will be most remembered for blanking the San Francisco Giants over 7.0 innings in Game #6 of the 2014 World Series to force a seventh and deciding game, while pitching with a heavy heart himself due to the untimely passing of his friend Oscar Tavares...to honor the late Ventura, all uniforms in 2017 will be adorned with the ACE 30 patch. NEXT STOP, HOUSTON--This series will conclude with a matinee tomorrow before the Royals head south for a weekend visit to Houston...the 3-game series will consist of a 7:10 start on Friday, 6:10 on Saturday and then a 1:10 road trip finale Sunday...Kansas City will then head home where it will open the 2017 home slate one week from today at 3:10 in Kauffman Stadium when the Oakland A’s hit town...the initial stay will be an 8-game homestand featuring three with the Athletics, three with the Angels and a pair of Interleague affairs against San Francisco. DOLLARS FOR BANDAGES--Danny Duffy gave the Noah’s Bandage Project a nice boost with his performance here on Monday, fanning eight hitters, which translates to $4,000 toward providing fun bandages to kids and raise money for pediatric cancer research...Duffy will donate $500 for each he records during the 2017 season.
