He struck out 91 hitters in 53.1 innings of work and was subsequently named the 2015 Pitcher of the Year by Baseball America and Louisville Slugger. In fall 2015, Anderson helped Team USA capture its third consecutive gold medal at the World Cup Championship in Osaka, Japan. He pitched in relief in four games and allowed one earned run in 10.1 innings. • The Rexford, New York, native entered the 2016 season as a preseason High School All- American, according to Baseball America and Rawlings-Perfect Game, but missed the first half of his senior season due to pneumonia. In a state semi-final contest that Braves personnel watched in person on June 4, 2016 saw Anderson throw 7.0 innings with two hits allowed, one unearned run and 16 strikeouts. During senior season struck out 47 batters in 35 innings while going 4-1. His last three starts, all in the postseason, saw him strike out 33 batters in 21 innings while not allowing an earned run. His team won the Class AA state championship, but Anderson did not pitch in the game after being drafted.
