GRID PORT FULL DOCUMENTATION

If you have even casually perused the summary of supported chat commands, above, you know that you are now in control of a very powerful and versatile multi tool for navigating, building, managing your land, role playing, or just having fun with your friends in ! And, Grid Port has been designed to be very user friendly - so much so, that you can start using Grid Port right away just by using the HUD and chat commands. But, Grid Port is a very sophisticated and powerful tool with rich features that go beyond mere chat commands and this documentation is intended to help you get the most out of it.

Grid Port is a powerful grid-wide and sim-wide transportation system for both you and your friends! Grid Port's teleportation system makes use of RLV (Restrained Life Viewer) controls and use of an RLV compliant viewer, such as Firestorm or Singularity, is required to take full advantage of its features. The main thing that RLV does for Grid Port is allow you and your friends to teleport without having to click a beam or get a map screen where you then have to click Teleport. RLV can even allow Grid Port to teleport you and your friends when rezzing is not allowed. Grid Port will still work without RLV - you just have to click the beams or portals and you will get the map screen instead of just being teleported. Grid Port can teleport up to 16 avatars within your specified beam radius to anywhere in Second Life - at the same time!

Grid Port is also a powerful remote scene rezzer that is compatible with scenes packaged in Novatech Horizons, Lex Neva's Rez Faux, CasperTech Rez Free Premium, and the free and open source Builders Buddy! So, you have access to literally tens of thousands of scenes that can be loaded into Grid Port using its automated installer orb! Rez scenes at your feet or anywhere you specify within the same region! Grid Port even supports shells, such as used in Horizons, and the Arch (a scene rezzer interface that both you and your friends can use to select scenes). You can also toggle on or off an automatic local teleport destination while scenes are rezzed - so, you can rez your scene from the ground, then teleport you and your friends after it has already rezzed! You can also set an inactivity timer that will automatically derez the scene if no one is within 100m of the scene rez position for the specified amount of time. Grid Port includes several premium scenes and shells to get you started!

Grid Port includes a tool and vehicle rezzer that can be loaded with your own favorite tools, like texture and sculpty organizers, prefab building pieces, sculpty and mesh creation tools, or just about anything you might use often in SL! Grid Port includes several vehicles for you and your friends to use; but, you can also add your own vehicles, too! Vehicles can even be builds that have been packaged in Horizons, Rez Faux, CasperTech Rez Free Premium, or Builders Buddy! Scenes, tools, and vehicles can be cleared separately.

Grid Port's other features include:

* - Mesh Smart HUD with 50 different selectable desktop themes!

* - Slim-line HUD (no background screen) with smaller buttons for a lower screen profile! (attaches to bottom center or right)

* - All styles of HUD have a pop-up color change pad for changing the colors of your lights, titler, poofers, beams, etc.! Choose from over 16 million colors!

* - Powerful color-coded sim-wide radar system provides information about other avatars in the region, as well as land information, including any restrictions that might apply, like no scripts, group building, no pushing, no flying, etc. (Grid Port will continue to work in no script areas).

* - Sky and Water Walkers that you can rez for both you and your friends! Several styles from which to choose or create your own!

* - Dasher for punching through walls or moving to a higher altitude even when you cannot rez or fly - and, even when you cannot run scripts! Several dashing styles from which to choose! Mouse-mode dash and blink mode are also supported!

* - Personal lighting system with lights above and all sides of your avatar for lighting your avatar and small to very large areas. Adjustable color and intensity! A simple face light cannot compare!

* - Vanish poofers for dramatic entrances and exits! Several styles from which to choose, including particle-free poofers, or create your own!

* - Several different beam styles from which to choose, including several particle-free beam styles! You can even use poofers as beams by using the included beam script!

* - Emote system with dozens of emotes, or add your own!

* - User configurable titler with changeable colors!

* - Built-in RLV Relay supports up to six RLV restraining devices at once! Modes are Off/On(ask permission)/On(auto-accept). The relay is only needed for use with RLV devices belonging to other avatars!

* - A forced sit/forced teleport RLV relay can be given to other avatars through the Avatars menu so that your friends can take advantage of Grid Port's advanced RLV teleporting capabilities without having to hunt for or purchase a full RLV relay. It is invisible and attaches to any avatar attachment point and has no other functions or controls. They need only wear it and forget it (they must also be using an RLV enabled viewer).

* - Receiving Pads for creating local teleport destinations that can be detected by other Grid Port or Stratotech transporter system users! Receiving pads can be hidden, revealed, renamed, turned on or off, or derezzed throughout the entire region all at once using chat commands and are not clickable! User API supported so you can interface other scripts with the receiving pads using link messages! Receiving pads are linkable to other objects, even vehicles!

Now, let's discuss these features in greater detail!

GETTING STARTED WITH GRID PORT

Grid Port consists of two parts - the HUD and the avatar attachment. Grid Port can operate partially without the HUD, but it cannot operate without the avatar attachment. There are three styles of HUDs provided. The Grid Port Smart HUD is the full HUD with changeable desktop themes. It attaches to the Bottom Right HUD position. Also included, are two slim-line style HUDs that attach to either the bottom or right positions on your screen.

Locate the Grid Port Smart HUD and the Grid Port attachment and wear both. If you are wearing only the HUD, the Grid Port logo will flash red indicating that it cannot communicate with Grid Port.

RLV

RLV (Restrained Life Viewer) controls are an important part of Grid Port's grid-wide and sim-wide transport system and many of its most useful features depend on RLV for proper operation. So, let's take a few moments to discuss RLV and how to get it working with your viewer.

RLV is a viewer-side feature of Second Life. This means, it depends on your viewer being compatible with the RLV specifications and that it must be enabled by the user - you. There are a number of RLV compliant viewers from which to choose. Grid Port was developed while the Firestorm viewer was being used, but any RLV compliant viewer should work fine with Grid Port.

To enable RLV in Firestorm, go to your menu bar and select Avatar/Preferences/Firestorm/General and at the top of the General tab make sure Allow Remote Scripted Viewer Controls (RLVa) is selected. If it was deselected and you had to select it, you must restart Firestorm to finish activating RLV in your viewer. You will likely need to follow a similar process in other viewers.

So, what does RLV do for you? It allows you and your friends to be automatically teleported, both sim- wide and grid-wide, by Grid Port without having to sit on or click beams or portals! Grid Port can teleport entire groups of up to 16 avatars all at the same time!

When an RLV device sends an RLV command (like "forced sit", for example), the command is usually sent both to the owner of the device directly and also chatted out on a channel reserved for RLV devices (channel number -1812221819, to be precise). If the owner is the user, the owner's viewer intercepts and executes the command. If the user is someone other than the owner of the RLV device, they must be wearing an RLV relay device that intercepts the RLV command on the RLV command channel and passes it along to the user's viewer for execution. The RLV relay in Grid Port serves this function when using RLV devices that belong to other avatars. However, not everyone uses RLV or has an RLV relay - so, Grid Port has one that you can pass out to your friends for them to use. Of course, they must still be using an RLV compliant viewer and they must enable RLV in their viewer, too - just like you had to do. If they have any kind of RLV compliant relay device, they need only activate it and make sure RLV is enabled in their viewer. RLV Relay devices are available on the Second Life Marketplace at very low cost, or even free!

Grid Port's RLV Relay button has an icon made up of three linked pad locks. It has three modes of operation:

RLV Relay OFF - Grid Port will not respond to RLV commands from devices belonging to other avatars.

RLV Relay ON (ask permission) - Grid Port will ask your permission before accepting RLV commands from devices belonging to other avatars.

RLV Relay ON (auto accept) - Grid Port will always accept RLV commands from devices belonging to other avatars.

Each click of the button toggles to the next mode. None of these modes affect RLV devices that belong to you, like your own copy of Grid Port. Even if the RLV relay in Grid Port is disabled, your avatar will still respond to RLV commands from your copy of Grid Port, as long as your viewer is RLV enabled.

Grid Port's built in RLV Relay can accept any RLV commands from up to six RLV devices simultaneously! The Copy/Transfer RLV Relay that Grid Port passes out to your friends is intended only for use with one device at a time and to respond only to two commands: Forced sit and forced teleport.

CHAT COMMANDS

Chat commands can be used to control much of Grid Port's operation, offering an alternative to navigating the Grid Port menu system. Chat commands are preceded by a "/" and are issued on the Command Channel. By default, the Command Channel is 0 - public chat. But, you can change your Command Channel either through the Options menu ("/menu") and then selecting "Com Channel" or by typing "/channel #" in local chat or on your designated alternate Command Channel, where "#" is replaced by your chosen positive channel number. Command Channel cannot be negative. Once you have changed your Command Channel, your command syntax will change slightly. For example, instead of typing "/menu" to bring up the Options menu you would have to type "/1/menu" if you have changed your Command Channel to "1". The "/1" tells your viewer to say the next information on channel 1. The advantage of changing your Command Channel is that others will no longer be able to see your chat commands that you are issuing to Grid Port. The disadvantage is that you must add "/" to all of your commands.

If you have forgotten your Command Channel, simply click the Options button on the Grid Port HUD and it will be specified on the menu page. OPTIONS BUTTON

This button is located at the bottom right of the Grid Port Smart HUD and can be identified by a gear icon. The Options button is where you will set your preferences for most of Grid Port's operation. You can set things like your desktop theme through the Appearance module, your Beam Style, your Poofer Style, Portal Style, Sky and Water Walkers, etc. Please, take a moment to go through the Options menu to familiarize yourself with its capabilities. Individual options will be discussed in relevant sub-sections of this document. Often, particular options will also have corresponding chat commands that you can use instead of navigating the menu system. Many options are toggles. That is, they turn On a feature if it is Off and they turn Off a feature if it is On, or they will alternate between operating modes each time the option is selected.

Here is the list of Options under this button and what they do:

**HELP** - Gives the user this notecard.

Appearance - Brings up a menu of different desktop and button themes for Grid Port from which you can choose to customize the look of Grid Port.

Beam Style - Allows you to select the style of teleport beam you would like Grid Port to use. Beams are distinctly different than poofers, even if they display the same or similar effects. Beams are used for teleporting. Poofers are used with the vanish and dashing features, but can be adapted for use as beams, and can be set to trigger when teleporting into another region.

Chat Bell - Turns On/Off the chat bell in Grid Port's radar system. When another avatar comes within 20m of your avatar, the chat bell will sound to alert you to their presence.

Chat Notice - Turns On/Off chat notification of other avatars coming within 20m range of your avatar.

Dash Blink - Togggles Dash Blink mode On/Off. In Blink mode, Grid Port will cause your avatar to vanish while dashing, then display the chosen dashing effect at the end of the dash, rather than during the dash. This can make for quite a flashy or surprising entrance!

Dash Fast, Dash Med, Dash Slow - Sets Grid Port's dashing speed.

Dash Style - Brings up a menu of dashing styles from which to choose. Dust, Flames, Hearts, and Smoke are all rez-free dashing effects and will work in areas where you cannot rez objects. The Bats dash style requires that you be able to rez objects to be displayed. Other dash styles may be added to Grid Port in the future with an emphasis on adding other rez-free dash styles.

Emoticons - Brings up the emote system menu, just like pressing the Emotes button or typing "/emotes" on the command channel.

GP Pads Off - Turns Off all Grid Port teleport receiving pads in the region.

GP Pads On - Turns On all Grid Port teleport receiving pads in the region. Rez GP Pad - Rez a GP Pad at your feet.

Gravity - Sets your personal gravity. Values from 0.0 to 1.0 will make you lighter. Values less than 0.0 will make you heavier. A value of 1.0 is neutral buoyancy. Changing this value will affect how high you can jump using Super Jump.

Light Color - Brings up the Grid Port Color Panel to allow you to set your personal lighting system color. You can also change the intensity of your lighting system using the luminance slider on the right side of the color panel.

Light HIgh, Light Med, and Light Low - Selects preset brightness levels for your Grid Port lighting system. Use this setting in conjunction with the luminance slider on the color panel to fine tune your lighting system brightness.

Light Off, Light On - Turns the Grid Port personal lighting system On or Off.

Poof On/Off - Toggles your teleport poofer (not beam). When set to On, Grid Port will rez your selected poofer effect whenever you teleport grid wide.

Poofer Style - Brings up a menu of available poofer styles from which to choose. Poofers are not beams. They are effects that can be triggered on teleport (at your destination), or when engaging and disengaging the vanish feature.

Portal Style - Brings up a menu of portal styles from which to choose. Portals can be selected as an alternative to beams when teleporting to other regions.

Portal/Beam - Toggles between using portals and beams for grid-wide teleporting.

Pose On, Pose Off - Turns on or off the built-in edit appearance animation.

Scene Rezzer - Brings up the scene rezzer main menu. It is the same as clicking the magic wand icon button on the HUD or typing "/scenes" on the command channel.

Set Clock - Allows you to set the display clock for the Grid Port Smart HUD. Enter the number of hours your local time is offset from SL time (Pacific Time). Eastern Time, for example, would represent an offset of 3 hours.

Super Jump - Allows you to jump extra high. Changing your Gravity setting will affect how high you can jump.

Titler - Brings up a text box into which you can enter a title to be displayed in hover text above your avatar's head. Your title must be less than 255 characters.

Titler Color - Brings up the Grid Port Color Panel to allow you to set your Titler text color. The color panel will disappear five seconds after you stop using it. Tools - Brings up the Tools menu. This is the same as clicking the hammer and wrench icon on the HUD or typing "/tools" on the command channel.

Vehicles - Brings up the Vehicles menu. This is the same as selecting Vehicles from the Tools menu or typing "/vehicles" on the command channel.

Walker Sky and Walker Water - Bring up menu to select which style of sky or water walker you would like to use.

WALKER BUTTON

This button has a walking man icon on it. Clicking the button once will activate the Sky Walker. Clicking it a second time will put the walker in Water mode and switch to your Water Walker, if one has been selected. If you have not yet selected a walker style, you will be presented with a menu of walker styles from which to choose.

The Sky Walker will allow you to walk in the air wherever you happen to be, as long as you can rez and run scripts in the area. You will be asked whether, or not, you would like to rez walkers for other avatars that are within ten meters of your avatar. If you say yes, the other avatars will be notified that a walker has been rezzed for them, along with instructions for deactivating it. Their walkers will also be deactivated if you deactivate yours.

Go into mouselook mode and move in any direction while using the walker or just use the movement keys.

The walker will automatically go transparent and phantom while you are flying and will reappear beneath your feet when you stop flying. In Water mode, the walker will only appear when you are at water level. Press the Page Down key to cause the walker to lower its altitude in small steps.

To derez the walker beneath your feet, type "die walker" in local chat or click the Walker button to toggle to the desired mode of operation.

VANISH BUTTON

This button can be identified by a standing man icon. When clicked, this button will trigger a vanish animation that will pull your avatar down 10M beneath your current position. If you have chosen a poofer style, the vanish button will also trigger your poofer both when vanishing and reappearing. If you cannot rez where you are, only the vanish animation will be triggered.

Alternately, you can activate this feature by typing "/vanish" in local chat.

SIT BUTTON

This button can be identified by a man sitting in a chair icon. This button simply toggles a ground sit animation wherever you happen to be.

EMOTE BUTTON

This button brings up a menu of emotes from which to choose. When selected, the emote will be displayed on two sides of a prim above your avatar's head. Click Cancel from the menu or simply click the emote above your avatar's head to make it disappear.

The chat shortcuts for this feature are:

/emotes - Brings up the emote menu.

/emote - Starts the selected emote.

/emote off or /emote cancel - Turns off the emote.

RADAR BUTTON

The Radar button can be identified by a round radar screen icon. Grid Port's radar system provides color-coded information on all avatars in the region or parcel where you are located and uses no sensors. It also provides information on the land as well, including area, prims available, ownership, and any restrictions that might be in place, like no pushing, group building, no flying, no scripts, etc. There are three modes of operation: Off, Avatar Scanning mode, and Land Scanning mode.

In Avatar Scanning mode, Grid Port displays avatars in order of their distance from you, either ascending or descending, depending on your preference. By default, it will display up to 24 of the closest avatars in the region. The information is coded as follows:

White - Avatar is within 10M.

Green - Avatar is between 10M and 20M away.

Yellow - Avatar is between 20M and 100M away.

Blue-Green - Avatar is greater than 100M away.

Red - Avatar is in mouselook.

^ - Avatar is above you.

V - Avatar is below you. N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW - Compass heading to avatar from your current position. (inside brackets with distance)

F = flying or falling

M = mouselook

S = sitting

C = crouching

T = typing

R = running

W = walking

/parcel - Toggles between region and parcel land information.

/sort - Toggles between sorting avatars in ascending or descending distance order.

/chat - Toggles avatar in chat range notification.

/chatbell - Toggles an audible bell when other avatars enter chat range.

MOVELOCK

The Movelock button can be identified by a single lock icon. It has two modes: Off and On. When On, Movelock prevents your avatar from being pushed away from its current location by other avatars or objects. Simply tap a movement key to temporarily disable Movelock and move normally. Movelock will then lock your new position. Movelock is handy in sandboxes to keep other avatars from pushing you around and to keep you from suddenly falling if the support beneath you disappears unexpectedly.

DASH BUTTON

This button can be identified by a running man icon. Dashing allows you to move very quickly in any direction by double-tapping and holding a direction key - like when you do to run, only much faster. Dashing is also useful in regions where flying is not allowed; because, dashing is not flying, but it can have the same effect by taking you up to great altitude at great speed. Dashing can also allow you to "punch" right through solid walls and other objects that block your path, if your speed is great enough.

There are three primary dashing modes: Off, On, and Mouse mode

In the On mode, dashing is accomplished by double-tapping and holding a direction key. In Mouse mode, dashing can also be triggered by holding the left mouse button down.

You can also go into mouselook mode on your viewer to dash in either On or Mouse mode.

The applicable chat commands for Dashing are:

/dashers - Brings up a menu of dashing effects from which to choose.

/dash - Toggles between dashing On, Mouse dash, and dashing Off.

/dash on - Turns dashing On

/dash off - Turns dashing Off

/dash mouse - Enables Mouse mode. Left mouse click to dash.

/dash blink - Displays dash effect at the end of dashing, rather than during dashing.

/dash to xxx, yyy, zzzz - Dashes to specific coordinates within the region.

/dash to xxx,yyy - Dashes to specific X and y coordinates, keeping the current z coordinate.

/dash to zzzz - Dashes to a specific altitude, while keeping the current x and y coordinates.

RETURN BUTTON

This button can be identified by a left curved arrow. When clicked, Grid Port will teleport you back to where you were before you last teleported within the same region. Use this button to quickly move back and forth between two points within the same region.

TELEPORT BUTTON

This button is in the center of the Grid Port Smart HUD and can be identified by a standing man icon with rings around the legs and lower torso. This button brings up the main transport menu for Grid Port.

Selecting Local Dest from the transport menu will bring up a menu of local transporter destinations, including any Stratotech transporter pads or booths, Grid Port Receiving Pads belonging to you or other avatars, and Grid Port Scene destinations. Owner only destinations will be marked with a "!" at the beginning of the destination name. Group only destinations will be marked with an "*" at the beginning of the destination name. Local only destinations will be marked with a "#" sign at the end of the destination name.

If you own a Stratotech transporter system in the region and it is set to Private Access mode, Grid Port will automatically select the private channel for your Stratotech transporter system which will filter out any public destinations belonging to other avatars in the region, as well as any Grid Port Receiving Pads that might be in the region, including your own. Therefore, if you are using a private transporter system in the region, use your transporter pads or booths for your destinations, rather than Grid Port Receiving Pads.

Selecting Other Region from the transport menu will bring up a list of other regions containing Stratotech transporter system pads or booths or public Grid Port Receiving Pads. This feature requires that you own a Stratotech TP Grid Server in the remote regions (this device is included with Stratotech transporter systems, but is not included with Grid Port). Therefore, if you do not own a Stratotech transporter system or if you are not using the TP Grid Servers, this menu button will have no function. It will, of course, provide access to destinations belonging to anyone else in your bridged transporter network. NOTE: Grid Port will automatically store the URL for the last TP Grid Server it accessed; but, it must have access to at least one before it can provide you with grid-wide access to all of your destinations.

Select Surface from the transport menu to transport to the ground or water level directly below you. Hint: Turn on your sky or water walker first, if you don't know whether you have land or water directly beneath you.

Select BeamToAvi to transport to another avatar within the same region. Select BeamUpAvi to transport another avatar in the same region to you. X,Y,Z under the transport menu will bring up a text box into which you can enter your desired transport coordinates within the same region. You may specify just the Z coordinate to only change your altitude, or you may specify the X and Y coordinates only to keep your altitude the same. Or, you may specify X, Y, and Z coordinates to move to a precise point within the same region.

Selecting Options from the transport menu brings up the Grid Port transporter options.

Pad Filter, under Options, will toggle between displaying all public destinations or just your own.

Portal Style brings up a menu of portals from which to choose for grid-wide transport.

Beam Settings brings up a menu to allow you to set your Beam Radius, Beam Style, and beam colors using the Grid Port Color Panel.

Beam Radius is the distance from the center of your avatar, inside which all other avatars (up to 16) can be teleported by Grid Port either sim-wide or grid-wide. The default setting is 1M. The maximum setting is 10M. Grid Port will maintain the relative positions of all avatars in the group, rather than piling them all up on a single point at the destination.

AVATARS BUTTON

This button brings up a menu of avatars within the same region from which to choose. Once an avatar has been chosen from the menu, another menu of actions from which to choose will be presented. At the top of the actions menu there is a link to the selected avatar's profile, along with other information about them.

Note: Many of the avatar actions listed require land ownership or land management powers to have effect. For example, you cannot ban another avatar at a sandbox, if you do not own or manage that sandbox. The actions that require land ownership or land management powers are marked with an asterisk ("*"). A Stratotech Security Relay device has been included with Grid Port to allow land owners to share their land management powers. This device can be deeded to the owner of the land or the group that owns the land. Refer to the documentation for the Security Relay for further information on its implementation.

The following avatar actions are supported:

Ban* - Places the selected avatar on the Ban list for the land.

Ban-Temp* - Allows you to specify the number of hours you would like to ban this avatar from the land.

Unban* - Removes the selected avatar from the Ban list for the land.

Eject* - Ejects the selected avatar from the land to the nearest parcel. Send Home* - Sends the selected avatar back to their Home location, wherever that might happen to be - even if it is in the same region.

Beam To - Teleports you to the selected avatar.

Beam Up - Teleports the selected avatar to you. If the selected avatar is using RLV, the teleport will be automatic and will not require their interaction; although, they will get an instant message notifying them of the teleport and who sent it.

Cam Sync - This feature requests permission from the selected avatar to synchronize your camera position and rotation with theirs, thereby allowing you to see from their camera perspective. This can be very useful in instruction or training scenarios or when two avatars are working on a joint building project together, or just when one avatar wants to see exactly what another avatar is seeing without having to take a snapshot. It will not display what is on their screen. It displays whatever their camera is viewing. Permission can be revoked by either user by hitting C or Page Down on the keyboard.

Note: This will work only one way. In other words, do not attempt to have both avatars synchronize their cameras with the other at the same time.

Cam To - This feature will move your camera position and focus it on the selected avatar. It will then track that avatar as they move. Hit the Page Down or C keys to cancel. Tap a movement key, if your camera does not immediately move to the selected avatar.

Find - Sends out a particle stream towards the selected avatar. Type "/find off" on the command channel to cancel. Find has a range limit of 100 meters.

Follow - Causes your avatar to start following the selected avatar. If they walk, your avatar will walk, if they fly, your avatar will fly. Wherever they go, you will go, unless they teleport away from you. Your avatar will attempt to remain approximately two meters away from the selected avatar. It is best to invoke follow when you are relatively close to the avatar you wish to follow. If there are obstacles between your avatar and the other avatar, follow may fail.

Give Relay - Grid Port will give the selected avatar an RLV Relay that supports forced sit and forced teleport commands from any RLV device. The relay is invisible, has no controls, and can be attached to any avatar position. They need only wear it, or any other RLV compliant relay device, to be able to take advantage of Grid Port's RLV teleporting capabilities. They must, of course, also be using an RLV compliant viewer, like Firestorm, and have RLV enabled (Firestorm: Avatar/Preferences/Firestorm/General/Allow Remote Scripted Viewer Controls (RLVa))

FAVORITES BUTTON

This button can be identified by a star on a sphere icon or a heart icon. It brings up a menu of your stored favorite locations. These are pad-less destinations across Second Life and can be located anywhere. To create a favorite destination simply type "/tpsave " on the command channel. Or, you can just type "/tpsave" or "/addfav" to bring up a text box into which you can type the location name. To delete a favorite location simply type "/delfav " on the command channel. Or, you can just type "/delfav" to bring up a menu of favorites from which to choose to delete.

HISTORY BUTTON

This button can be identified by an H icon and displays the history of your grid-wide teleports. Grid Port will only record the teleport when it is a grid teleport, and not a sit teleport and it will only record one history location per region. If you teleport from a different location in a region, the new location will replace the old one, but there will still only be one entry for the region, and it will then be bumped back to the top of the history list. History is displayed with the most recent locations listed first. History location names are always followed by "@ ". Grid Port will store up to fifty history locations.

CAMERA BUTTON

When this button is pressed, Grid Port will teleport you and any other avatars within your specified beam radius (default = 1M) to your camera position. Grid Port will use beams when it can rez and it will use RLV forced teleports if it is unable to rez.

SCENE REZZER BUTTON

This button can be identified by a magic wand icon. The Grid Port scene rezzer can rez scenes anywhere in the same region and is compatible with scenes packaged in the following rezzing systems:

Novatech Horizons

Lex Neva's Rez Faux

CasperTech Rez Free Premium

Builders Buddy

Select Scene - Brings up a menu of available scenes listed alphabetically.

Clear Scene - Clears the current scene. The scene crate itself will be transformed into a 40m x 40m x 0.01m invisible platform for five seconds while the scene is being cleared and the shell or next scene is being rezzed. As long as all avatars are above the scene rezzing position, this platform will support them while scenes are being changed or cleared.

Delete Scene - Brings up a menu of scenes from which you can choose one to delete from Grid Port's inventory. Do this only if you no longer wish to have the scene installed in Grid Port.

Shell Menu - Brings up the Shell sub-menu.

Options - Brings up the scene rezzer options menu.

Grid Port supports shells for use with scenes and between scenes. So, let's take a few moments to discuss shells and how they might be used.

First of all, a shell is a scene, in and of itself. They are packaged just like a scene and rezzed just like a scene. But, they are used a little differently. Shells are usually simple scenes that serve as a temporary waiting area while a new scene is selected, or when there are no scenes to be rezzed at all. They are just a place for avatars to stand between scenes, so that they don't fall or have to fly to keep from falling. Shells are often a simple platform or box.

Shells can also provide a platform for other scenes. Suppose you have a house you purchased on the Marketplace or in world and it came with no kind of yard or landscaping - it's just a house. But, it is packaged in Horizons, or Rez Faux, or Rez Free Premium, or Builders Buddy and you want to rez it as a scene - up in the sky where you rez all your Grid Port scenes. Well, guess what? There is no land up in the sky. So, you must provide some platform for the house. In this example, you might use the Tropical Platform shell in Grid Port to provide your packaged house with the place it needs to rez to be useful. So, you rez your Tropical Platform shell, you rez your house scene, and you enjoy the two together!

Grid Port provides several shells from which to choose and you can also add your own! Most relatively simple scenes are likely adaptable for use as shells (see the Creating and Adding Content section, below).

Grid Port also supports the arch, as well as a scene rezzer button script that can be dropped into any prim to allow others to access the Grid Port Scene Rezzer menu. Their access will be restricted, of course, but they will have the ability to select scenes and shells and clear scenes and shells. Type "/arch" on the command channel to bring up the arch. The arch will appear ten meters north of the rezzing position and remain active for 30 seconds after the last time it was touched. For those unfamiliar with the term, the "arch" was a device in Star Trek the Next Generation that appeared in the holodeck as a computer interface to the holodeck systems.

Note: The Arch, as well as any other user interface to the scene rezzer will only function while you are in the same region wearing your Grid Port. If you leave the region, the access to Grid Port's scene rezzer leaves with you. In the scene rezzer Options menu, you can set the Scene Position, the inactivity timer, and whether or not Grid Port will create a teleport destination while the scene is rezzed.

By default, the Scene Position is set to wherever you happen to be when you first rez a scene with Grid Port. Once the scene has been rezzed, Grid Port remembers that location and sets it as the Scene Position until you change it. You can, of course, set the scene position to any coordinates within the same region up to the build limit of 4096 meters. It is recommended that, whenever possible, you set your scene location to the center of the region, or at the center of your parcel of land. It is usually best to rez scenes up in the sky far away from the land. Why? Because, many scenes rez both above and below the starting rez position and because many scenes can be quite large or not consistent with the theme of the region in which they are being rezzed. Rezzing scenes in the sky avoids these and other problems.

Select Timer to set the inactivity timer for the number of minutes you would like Grid Port scenes to remain rezzed while no one is present (within 100m of the rez position). The default is for the inactivity timer to be disabled. Setting the value to zero will disable the inactivity timer. The inactivity timer is handled by a script in the scene crate and not Grid Port, so you can feel free to leave the region and the scene will clear itself automatically when it is no longer being used.

TP On/Off - Toggles a teleport destination to be activated while scenes are rezzed. The destination name will be the scene name truncated to fit in the menu button with a "#" at the end designating it as a local only destination. It will not show up in destination menus in other regions that are using Stratotech transporter systems. When On, the TP destination provides an easy way for you and your friends to teleport directly to the scene rezzing position from wherever you happen to be in the same region. TP On/Off can be toggled anytime you like and not just while a scene is not rezzed.; so, you can turn off the TP destination when the scene is not being used.

Grid Port includes some premium scenes to get you started. So, let's take a few moments to discuss them, shall we? Grid Port includes the following scenes:

Grid Port Sky Box (68 prims, 20m x 30m x 10m)

La Isla Cangrejo - GP (70 prims, 45m x 45m x 45m)

Paradis de Verdure - GP (56 prims, 45m x 45m x 45m)

Strato-Cube - Horizons (19 prims, 32m x 32m x 32m)

Grid Port Sky Box is a low-prim , relatively small furnished contemporary apartment, like you might find in a high rise building in a large city. It's ideal as a place to change clothes in private or visit with friends, or just relax and take a virtual tour by choosing from the many included panoramic scenes. Grid Port Sky Box has the following features: Over 50 high resolution (3 megapixel) panoramic scenes from which to choose, including spectacular views from major cities, nature scenes, popular vacation destinations, and even other worlds! Just click the windows to bring up the panorama menu.

Six art themes. Click any of the artwork or the rug to cycle through the available art themes.

Adjustable lighting. Click any of the lights or light splashes to cycle between Off, Low, Medium, and High intensity.

Media Player. Enter your web address into the pop-up address bar.

La Isla Cangrejo

This is your own private tropical island getaway! La Isla Cangrejo, or Crab Island, is surrounded by a six megapixel seamless panorama, making it seem as though you are actually there, instead of just inside a sky box! It features two hammocks and a tiki hut, plus a generous beach for sun bathing!

Paradis de Verdure

This is a deep forest scene with a lovely mesh gazebo with seating for visiting with your friends in a peaceful, serene environment surrounded by trees with a sunny meadow in the distance. Very relaxing - and, very realistic. It features particle butterflies, sun position sensing nature sounds, sculpted ground, grasses, flowers, and trees! Click the cherry tree to toggle the falling cherry blossoms on/off. Click the animal hide rug in the gazebo for a menu of other animal hides.

Strato-Cube

The Strato-Cube is a 6 megapixel 360 degree by 180 degree panorama viewer with selectable viewing objects, like a hot air balloon, a magic carpet, and a cobblestone viewing platform. The Strato-Cube is capable of storing and displaying up to 1000 6 megapixel equirectangular 360/180 panoramas. Over 30 scenes have been included and there are over 200 scenes available for purchase on the Marketplace with more on the way, or create and add your own! Use the Grid Port Content Installer to easily add new scenes to the Strato-Cube.

The Strato-Cube also offers a HUD of its own from its main menu, so you can select panoramas by thumbnail, rather than menu names. And, it has a Build Mode that rezzes a builders platform with graduated builders grid texture, so you can build in privacy while surrounded by stunning six megapixel panoramas, or display the grid texture on the walls, as well. Build Mode also allows you to set the color of the walls to black, white, green, or blue for alpha masking of textures.

The Strato-Cube is a great place to stage photos of avatars and objects in realistic settings.

The Strato-Cube also features:

Re-sizable by menu or text box from 20m to 1024m (default = 32m). Transparent mode to make the Strato-Cube transparent from the inside so you can see out, while others cannot see in.

Privacy mode, so that no one can see inside your Strato-Cube.

Phantom mode, so that you and others can pass through the walls and platform of the Strato-Cube.

Public, Group Only, and Owner Only access modes.

None of the included scenes in Grid Port feature doors for access. Therefore, your only way of getting into the builds is by teleporting inside. So, enable the teleport destination feature through Options under the scene rezzer menu and find the destination in Local Dest from the transport menu (accessed through the Teleport button or by typing "/transport" on the command channel). The destination name will be a truncated version of the scene name.

TOOLS BUTTON

This button can be identified by a hammer and wrench icon. Click this button to bring up the main Tools menu, or type "/tools" on the command channel. This menu provides access to both your installed tools and vehicles. Tools and vehicles can be cleared separately.

Tools is where you will find things like the Grid Port Backup/Restore device, the Grid Port Content Installer, and the Grid Port Receiver Pad, as well as other included extras and any tools you may wish to add to Grid Port (see Creating and Adding Content below).

Let's discuss the tools that have been included with Grid Port, shall we?

Aley Freebie Vendors - Aley is an extremely talented builder who has been creating imaginative items in Second Life for many years, now, and she always makes her items available for free, and usually full perm. Rez this collection of freebie panel vendors out and peruse the hundreds of high quality items Aley offers. You're free to use any of her items in your own builds for resale. Just don't resell them as is. All of the items available through the panel vendors are also available on the Marketplace without the purchase of Grid Port - these truly are freebies. I've just linked them together and installed them as a tool in Grid Port to make their use more convenient for you. You need not clutter your inventory with any more of the items than you actually need, and only when you need them. But, you should have an idea of what you have available to you, so take some time to look through them.

Avatars In Region - This is a sign that displays the number of avatars in the region.

Grid Port Backup/Restore - Rez this tool out and click it for a menu to backup Grid Port before updating Grid Port to a new version and to preserve your favorite locations, history locations, and any user content that you may have added. The device automatically renames itself with the date of the backup and your avatar's name. Take the backup device back to inventory and place it in a folder under Grid Port for easy access should you need it in the future. You can reuse the same backup device and take a copy back to inventory each time you do a backup or you can rez out a new backup/restore device whenever you need it. The first thing the backup device does when backing up Grid Port is purge any inventory that is in it, so that you don't end up with duplicate inventory. When restoring from the backup/restore device, any inventory in Grid Port with the same name will be replaced, rather than another copy added. History and Favorite locations will be replaced by those from the backup device. Do not clear your tools before taking the backup device or a copy of it back to inventory, or it will be lost - not in Trash, not in Lost and Found, just lost. with no way of getting it back. After purging any inventory using the menu and removing the tool script from the backup/restore device, your Grid Port backup device becomes transferable, so you can pass it to an alt or to friends and they can restore the history and favorite locations stored in it. You can, of course, include any transferable content in the backup device when you pass it to other avatars.

Grid Port Content Installer - Use this device to add your own packaged scenes, tools, vehicles, emotes, Strato-Cube scenes, walkers, poofers, beams, portals, etc. to Grid Port. Simply drag your user content into the Grid Port Content Installer orb while wearing Grid Port and click it to begin the installation. Objects, textures, and note cards are supported. See the Creating and Adding Content section, below, for further details about the kinds of content that can be installed and how it might need to be prepared prior to installation.

Grid Port Receiver Pad - Rez and name these pads to create teleport destinations throughout the same region. And, if you have a Stratotech Transporter System, the Grid Port Receiver Pads are detectable by TP Grid Servers and therefore accessible from anywhere in Second Life using Grid Port.

These commands can be issued on the command channel to control all Grid Port Receiver Pads in the current region:

/clear pads - Deletes all Grid Port Receiver Pads in the region.

/pads on - Activates all Grid Port Receiver Pads in the region.

/pads off - Deactivates all Grid Port Receiver Pads in the region.

Note: The following commands are always issued in public chat on channel 0. They may also be issued as link messages (i.e - llMessageLinked(LINK_THIS, 0, "/pad on", NULL_KEY))

/pad on - Turns the receiving pad on.

/pad off - Turns the receiving pad off. While off, it will not be visible in destination menus.

/pad hide - Hides the pad by making it fully transparent.

/pad show - Reveals the pad.

/pad name - Sets the name of the receiving pad. Add an "!" at the beginning of the name to designate it for owner only use or add an "*" at the beginning of the name to designate it for group only use. Pad names should be no longer than 12 characters. Script-O-Meter - Rez this out and have avatars click it to get their script count.

Sim-Wide 3D Radar - This device is a mesh cube that is re-sizable up to 20M and rezzes color-coded avatar tracking scan balls to display their relative positions and distance within the 256m x 256m x 256m coverage area. The white scan ball represents the location of the radar unit within the coverage area and can safely be removed if not needed. The center of the cube represents <128,128,zzzz>. Click this device to toggle it on or off.

CREATING AND ADDING CONTENT TO GRID PORT

With Grid Port, you can create and install your own walkers, poofers, portals, beams, emotes, tools, vehicles, scenes, and shells! This section will provide you with the information needed to create and add your own content to Grid Port. It is assumed that you know how to edit an object in SL and know how to drag and drop content into objects.

Note: All objects to be added to Grid Port are required to have both copy and modify permissions. Installation of no copy items in Grid Port will result in their permanent and irretrievable loss.

Grid Port Content Kit:

All user content can be installed using the Grid Port Content Installer orb. You will find this device both in the Grid Port Content Kit that came with your purchase of Grid Port and it is also installed as a Tool in Grid Port. If you have not yet done so, unpack your Grid Port Content Kit to your inventory, so that you have easy access to the scripts that will be referenced and used in the preparation of your user content to be installed in Grid Port.

The Grid Port Content Installer orb can process objects, textures, notecards, and landmarks and install them into Grid Port. Right click and edit the Grid Port Content Installer orb and drag and drop your items into the Content tab of the installer. Then, click the installer orb to begin the installation process.

Note: The Grid Port Content Installer orb will always replace any inventory in Grid Port that shares the same name as content you are installing. It will not add duplicate inventory.

The Grid Port Content Kit contains the following scripts:

._Grid Port Receiver Pad

._Grid Port Portal

._Grid Port Transporter Beam - Rez Poofer

._Grid Port Scene

._Grid Port Scene Rezzer Remote ._Grid Port Tool

._Grid Port Vehicle

._Grid Port Walker Object

._Grid Port On-rez Poofer

The Grid Port Content Kit also contains a full perm GNU licensed copy of Builders Buddy, including a modified base script with a Grid Port plug-in to allow scenes packaged in Builders Buddy to be remotely rezzed by Grid Port.

ADDING LANDMARKS AS FAVORITES

Follow these steps to add landmarks to your list of Favorite destinations:

Step One: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb either from inventory or from Grid Port through the Tools menu or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Two: Edit the Grid Port Content Installer orb and drag and drop your landmarks into the Content tab.

Step Three: Click the Grid Port Content Installer orb to begin the installation.

The installation process will truncate landmark names to no more than 24 characters; so, you may wish to edit the names of some of your landmarks prior to installing them in Grid Port.

ADDING EMOTES TO GRID PORT

Follow these steps to add emotes to Grid Port:

Step One: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb either from inventory or from Grid Port through the Tools menu or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Two: Edit the Grid Port Content Installer orb and drag and drop your emote textures into the Content tab.

Step Three: Click the Grid Port Content Installer orb to begin the installation.

Note: Your texture names should be no longer than 12 characters.

ADDING SCENES TO GRID PORT

Grid Port supports remote rezzing of scenes that were packaged using any of the following multi-object rezzing systems:

Novatech Horizons

Lex Neva's Rez Faux

CasperTech Rez Free Premium

Builders Buddy*

Scenes packaged using any of these systems can be prepared using the following step by step process:

Step One: Rez your scene crate in Second Life.

Step Two: Right click and edit the scene crate and drag and drop the ._Grid Port Scene script into the Content tab. This script will rename the crate by placing the word, "SCENE" at the beginning of the scene name and truncate the rest of the name to no more than 24 characters. Adjust the scene name, if you like, to make it more readable within the 24 character limit.

Step Three: Take the prepared scene crate back to your inventory.

Step Four: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb from your inventory or from the Tools menu in Grid Port or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Five: Right click and edit the Grid Port Content Installer orb and drag and drop your prepared scene crate into the Content tab.

Step Six: Click the Grid Port Content Installer orb to begin the installation.

* - Scenes packaged using Builders Buddy also require that the "builders buddy base" script in the scene crate be replaced with the "builders buddy base - Grid Port" script that is included in your Grid Port Content Kit.

Shells

Shells can be added to Grid Port using the exact same process as adding scenes. Shells are just scenes that are being used a little differently. So, the only step required to make a scene into a shell is to change the word "SCENE" at the beginning of your scene crate name to "SHELL" - that's it.

You may wish to consider the following guidelines when creating or using scenes as shells:

- Shells are intended to be used as a temporary support for avatars between scenes and while selecting scenes. Therefore, shells should provide some kind of support for avatars at the scene rezzing position.

- Of the various rezzing systems that Grid Port supports, only Novatech Horizons supports the use of shells, so following Novatech's guidelines for shells is recommended. Specifically, a door or some form of access to the scene should be provided 10M north of the rezzing position for the scene. This should also give you an idea of how large a shell should be - about 20M across is a good size for a shell.

- Shells should not be involved or complicated scenes that take time to "boot" or set up. They should be able to be quickly and easily rezzed and derezzed and should not send out chat or startup messages.

- Shells should be relatively low prim, since they may be left rezzed for extended periods of time when scenes are not being used.

Scene Rezzer Remote Button

Drag and drop the ._Grid Port Scene Rezzer Remote script into any prim to turn it into a scene rezzer remote button for Grid Port that will allow other avatars to have limited access to the scene rezzer menu in Grid Port to select and clear scenes. They cannot select or clear shells and they cannot access the Options menu for the scene rezzer. You, of course, will have full access to the scene rezzer menu while using the scene rezzer remote button. You may wish to incorporate a scene rezzer remote button in scenes that you intend to use as shells. It should be easily identifiable.

Note: The scene rezzer remote button script will only work while you are in the same region and while you are wearing Grid Port. If you leave the region, you are taking the Grid Port scene rezzer with you - so, the remote button has nothing to control.

ADDING TOOLS TO GRID PORT

To add objects to be used as Tools in Grid Port follow this step by step process:

Step One: Position your new tool object where you would like it to be relative to your avatar when Grid Port rezzes it for you. So, if you want the tool to be five meters in front of you when Grid Port rezzes it, place it five meters in front of your avatar, now.

Step Two: Edit your tool object and drag and drop a copy of the ._Grid Port Tool script into the Content tab. This script will rename your object to "TOOL" plus a single space followed by the rest of the name of the object truncated to no more than 24 characters. It's position and rotation relative to your avatar is also recorded when the script is added to the object.

Step Three: Take your new tool object back to your inventory. Step Four: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb from your inventory or from the Tools menu in Grid Port or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Five: Drag and drop a copy of your new tool object into the Content tab of the installer orb.

Step Six: Click the installer orb to begin the installation.

Note: Tools can also be packaged scenes. Grid Port will rez the scene at the crate position. While the crate may be transparent, the crate menu will be active.

ADDING VEHICLES TO GRID PORT

To add objects to be used as vehicles in Grid Port follow this step by step process:

Step One: Position your vehicle where you would like it to be relative to your avatar when Grid Port rezzes it for you. So, if you want the vehicle to be five meters in front of you when Grid Port rezzes it, place it five meters in front of your avatar, now.

Step Two: Edit your vehicle and drag and drop a copy of the ._Grid Port Vehicle script into the Content tab. This script will rename your object to "VEHICLE" plus a single space followed by the rest of the name of the vehicle truncated to no more than 24 characters. It's position and rotation relative to your avatar is also recorded when the script is added to the vehicle.

Step Three: Take your vehicle back to your inventory.

Step Four: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb from your inventory or from the Tools menu in Grid Port or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Five: Drag and drop a copy of your vehicle into the Content tab of the installer orb.

Step Six: Click the installer orb to begin the installation.

Note: Vehicles can also be packaged scenes. Grid Port will rez the scene at the crate position.

THE GRID PORT ON-REZ POOFER SCRIPT

This script can be dropped into any Grid Port Tool or Vehicle object to have it display an on-rez particle poofer using your Grid Port start and end poofer colors. If no other poofer colors have been chosen, the start color will be light blue and the end color will be white. This script is full perm so you can change the particle effects however you see fit. You can drop this script in the tool or vehicle either before or after the ._Grid Port Tool or ._Grid Port Vehicle script.

CREATING WALKERS FOR GRID PORT

Follow this step by step process to create and add walkers to Grid Port:

Step One: Rez a prim 2m x 2m x 0.01m and set its name to "WALKER" plus one single space, then the rest of the name you want to appear in the Walker menu. Walker names should not exceed 12 characters.

Step Two: Set all faces of the prim you just created to the default transparent texture, then apply your desired walker texture to the top and bottom of the prim.

Step Three: Add any special effects you desire, such as animating the texture, changing colors on collision, rezzing "fade" effect prims, etc.

Step Four: Drag and drop a copy of the ._Grid Port Walker Object script that is included in your Grid Port Content Kit. Then take the walker object back to your inventory.

Step Five: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb from your inventory or from the Tools menu in Grid Port or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Six: Drag and drop a copy of your walker object into the Content tab of the installer orb, then click the orb to begin the installation.

GRID PORT RECEIVER PAD SCRIPT

Grid Port Receiver Pads can be rezzed from Grid Port whenever you need them; but, the receiver pad script can also be used in your own objects, as well. For example, you may want to incorporate a receiver pad in a space shuttle, so you can teleport to the shuttle wherever in the region it might happen to be. The Grid Port Receiver Pad script is Copy/Transfer, so you can include it in your own builds that you sell or give away to others.

You can also control the Grid Port Receiver Pad script using link messages that include the chat commands. For example, llMessageLinked(LINK_SET, 0, "/pad on", NULL_KEY); would turn on the pad.

CREATING YOUR OWN POOFERS

Poofers are simply objects that display special effects when rezzed. The special effects can include particles, animated textures, sounds, lights, and movement. Grid Port rezzes poofers so that the center of the root prim is located at your feet; so, consider this while designing your poofer objects.

Follow these steps to add a poofer to Grid Port:

Step One: Create your poofer object, including any special effects you would like it to display when it is rezzed.

Step Two: Add the word "POOFER" to the beginning of the name of your poofer object, followed by a single space. You may optionally specify a delay for the vanish animation by adding "::" plus the float value of the delay for the vanish animation to the end of the name. For example, "POOFER Sparkles::2.0" would be the correct name for a poofer object that started out being called "Sparkles" with a two second delay before the vanish animation is triggered. If you do not specify a delay, the vanish animation will be triggered as soon as the poofer is rezzed. Specify a delay when special effects need time to develop before you want the vanish animation to be triggered.

Step Three: Set your poofer object to Temporary in the Object tab and immediately take it back to inventory.

Step Four:: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb from either your inventory or from the Tools menu in Grid Port, or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Five: Edit the Grid Port Content Installer orb and drag and drop your poofer object into the Content tab.

Step Six: Click the installer orb to begin the installation.

Poofers that are used in other devices can often be used in Grid Port. For example, virtually all of the poofers included in Novatech's emDash can be used in Grid Port with little or no modification, except for specifying a delay for the vanish animation - they are already named properly and the effects are already designed with the proper rez position taken into consideration.

CONVERTING POOFERS FOR USE AS TELEPORT BEAMS

Follow these steps to convert a poofer object into a teleport beam for use in Grid Port:

Step One: Create a box prim 0.5m x 0.5m x 0.01m and edit its name to "BEAM" followed by a single space, then whatever you want the beam to be called in the Grid Port Beam Styles menu.

Step Two: Set all faces of this prim to the default transparent texture.

Step Three: Drag a copy of your poofer object into the Content tab of the prim you created, above. The poofer object should be set to be temporary when rezzed.

Step Four: Drag a copy of the ._Grid Port Transporter Beam - Rez Poofer script into the Content tab of the prim you created, above.

Step Five: Set the prim to Temporary in the Object tab and immediately take it back to inventory. Step Six: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb from either your inventory or from the Tools menu in Grid Port, or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Seven: Click the installer orb to begin the installation.

Note: You may optionally specify a delay for the beam to issue the RLV forced sit or forced teleport commands, which triggers a vanish animation, by editing the Description field of the BEAM object and placing "DELAY::" followed by a float value that specifies how long of a delay there should be between the time the poofer is rezzed and the time the RLV forced sit command is issued. For example, placing "DELAY::3.0" in the description field of the BEAM object will cause the beam script to wait for three seconds before issuing the RLV forced sit or forced teleport command.

CREATING YOUR OWN PORTALS

Portals are an alternative means of teleporting to other regions, rather than using beams. Grid Port includes several portal styles, but you can certainly create your own and install them in Grid Port. The ._Grid Port Portal script is all you need, along with following a few basic guidelines.

Follow this step by step process to add your portals:

Step One: Create your portal object, along with any special effects you want it to display.

Step Two: Position the portal object where you want it to rez relative to your avatar's position. So, if you want the portal to rez five meters in front of your avatar when you rez it from Grid Port, position it five meters in front of your avatar, now.

Step Three: Edit your portal object and drag and drop the ._Grid Port Portal script into the Content tab. This script will rename your portal object to "PORTAL" plus the rest of the object name truncated to no more than 24 characters.

Step Four: Take your prepared portal object back to inventory.

Step Five: Rez a Grid Port Content Installer orb from either your inventory or from the Tools menu in Grid Port, or by typing "/install" on the command channel.

Step Six: Edit the Grid Port Content Installer orb and drag and drop your prepared portal object into the Content tab.

Step Seven: Click the installer orb to begin the installation.

Note: The portal script detects when avatars are within 2 meters of the center of the root prim and triggers an RLV forced teleport command. If the avatar is using RLV and has an RLV relay attached and activated, they will be teleported automatically without having to click the portal or get the map screen. If the avatars are not using RLV, they can click the portal object to get a map screen where they can then click Teleport. Consider this in the design of your portals, if you want avatars to be able to use RLV effectively with it. So, place the center of the root prim where you want the avatar to be when they are teleported.

The portal script issues the following link message two seconds before the portal appears and two seconds before it derezzes. llMessageLinked(LINK_SET, 0, "POOFER",NULL_KEY);
