4 1 We’ve built a reputation for engineering projects that are woven into the way of life of millions across the globe. Iconic bridges and structures. Landmark buildings and developments. Leading-edge environmental systems.

We’ve connected commuters via ribbons of multilane highways, efficient mass rapid transit networks and advanced high speed railways.

And now, under a new corporate banner, we are even stronger together.

2 3 Continental Holdings Corporation Weaving our individual strengths together

Continental Holdings Corporation (CHC) is a publicly listed holding company with a proud track record of engineering, construction and project development on the global stage. Continental Holdings Corporation was incorporated in April, 2010 following the restructuring of the former Continental Engineering Corporation, a well-recognized brand of the construction and development industry for over six decades. To meet the growing demands and diversities of international markets, the evolution of each individual business unit has led to the restructuring of CEC’s operations into different member companies, by allowing each entity to play its individual strengths in its specific market.

CHC business units operate in four major business areas:

Civil Construction

Including highways and roads, tunnels, bridges, mass rapid transit systems, high speed rail systems and complex civil structures.

Building Construction

Including commercial and office buildings, skyscrapers, factories, industrial warehouses, residential housing, arenas and sports stadiums.

Real Estate Development

Including residential housing, commercial developments and leasing, new community development, commercial property development and management.

Environmental Project Development

Including water purification, wastewater treatment, sewage systems and waste treatment.

CHC’s role is to provide a solid foundation that both empowers the growth and development of each member company and enhances their professional expertise and competitive capabilities. With a focus on exceeding customer expectations and building shareholder value, CHC is structured to provide strategic vision and leadership, a firm financial foundation, and integrated management resources to ensure the success of the member companies.

Given the depth of engineering, construction and development expertise of our member companies, we actively encourage the sharing of skills and experiences across the group. This gives each business unit a unique advantage in the competitive and ever-evolving marketplace. More importantly, it empowers the units to offer customers more innovative, flexible and cost-effective solutions.

Transforming Taiwan at 300 km/h CEC is proud to have made a significant contribution to the development and operation of the world’s largest Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) project – the 345 km high speed rail network connecting Taipei in the north and Kaohsiung in the south, valued at US$ 17 billion. CEC was responsible for a 14 km route through the Paghuashan Mountain region, Connecting Taiwan’s most important urban centres requiring 13 bridges, 7 tunnels and massive earthworks. The high speed rail line runs the length of Taiwan’s western corridor, where the bulk of the country’s socio-economic activities are concentrated. It effectively links 14 cities and 77 towns into an integrated megalopolis, bringing a dynamic and progressive new lifestyle to over 90% of the country’s 23 million citizens.

CEC delivers groundbreaking construction solutions

As part of the 5 initial companies of the Taiwan High Speed Rail Consortium, Continental Engineering Corporation played a important role in the building of two key stations, plus the bridges, tunnels, viaducts and earthworks of a challenging, Zuoying Station This 42 km long high speed rail elevated 80 km section of the line. CEC was up to the challenge

Excavating through a gravel terrain, the two track tunnel was constructed using the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM). Excavation work ensured minimum harmful loosening of the adjacent groundmass.

Three headings were used to excavate the tunnel face – top heading, bench and invert. The tunnel has a full-face area of 132 m2, with a maximum overburden of 260 meters.

Standing proud in Taipei’s CBD Rising over 135 meters above Taipei’s business core, the Dun Hua South Road Office Tower offers premium office space and panoramic views of the city. The striking structure currently serves as the headquarters of CDC and Continental Holdings Corporation, CDC’s corporate parent. It also houses the headquarters of CDC’s corporate siblings - Continental Engineering Corporation and Hsin Dar Environment Corporation.

A landmark in SRC and glass

Completed in 2003, the tower showcased advanced structural, environmental and office management techniques. It was acclaimed as one of Taipei’s top-ten office towers in 2005 by both CB Richard Ellis and the China Credit Information Service, Ltd. The building is one of the most desirable locations in Taipei’s An SRC structure with a total floor area of over 46,600 m2. renowned Dun Hua business district.

An elevated floor for under-floor electronic installment efficiently caters to office demands, while a Honeywell central control system helps to maintain and integrate the smooth functioning of the building as a whole.

The prominent floor-to-ceiling glass facade adds greatly to the structure’s architectural elegance. This is especially evident at night, when the building has a crystal-like glow that sets it apart from its neighbouring towers. Standing proud on Dun Hua S. Road Sec. 2, Taipei.

20 21 Built-in strength

With 37 floors above ground and 6 below, the 400+ unit building’s structure uses a Steel Moment Resistant Frame (SMRF), seismic dissipation studs and nearly 100 Buckling Restrained Braces (BRB) and Bucking Inhibited Braces (BIB), to provide exceptional wind and earthquake resistance.

A precast construction method was chosen to help provide an effective resistance to potential seismic events. Structural features included Concrete Filled Tube box-shaped steel columns filled with high strength concrete. These are integrated with stainless steel to form a modified composite SRC structure. 20 cm thick reinforced concrete floor slabs on each level provide both soundproofing and seismic dissipation.

The administration building has an ecological design, with energy saving, waste reduction and health features.

50 51 that, judging by the quality of the treated water, the company’s skill and technology were completely vindicated.

Hsin Dar goes above and beyond

A high-rate filtration process is used to treat water to the customer’s standards. This involves a coagulation, sand filtration and chlorine disinfection sequence. Hsin Dar’s engineering management and professional engineering staffs were also put to the test during a 150-day/24 hours Air/water nozzle installation requires precise and accurate Baoshan Water Treatment Plant Phase III Expansion ( Hsinchu, Taiwan ) installation and adjusting. per day verification test. The customer’s strict requirements were successfully met by the Hsin A watershed accomplishment for Hsin Dar Dar team. The Baoshan Water Treatment Plant is a comprehensive life cycle project that includes the design, procurement, construction, trial run and operation stages for a water treatment facility with a processing capacity of 34,000 cubic meters per day. The project marks Hsin Dar’s expansion into the water treatment services market, highlighting the company’s comprehensive waterworks engineering capabilities.

Meeting the needs of an expanding region

The Baoshan Water Treatment Plant was commissioned by the Taiwan Water Corporation to satisfy the growing water demands of the Hsinchu population and Hsinchu Science Park and A high-performance Filter Press Sludge Dewatering System ensures the water content of the sludge cake remains industrial region. The third phase of the project below 60%. was designed to meet the objective of supplying an additional 340,000 cubic meters of water for domestic and industrial use in Hsinchu.

A tried and tested filtration solution

Rapid sand filtration is the most important part of a water treatment process designed to effectively remove finer solids. This means the precision and accuracy of the construction of rapid filters was
