Sub: Depression over Telangana

The Depression over Telangana moved further west-northwestwards with a speed of 18 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centred at 1730 hrs IST of today, the 13th October, 2020, over Telangana near latitude 17.5°N and longitude 80.5°E, about 50 km east-northeast of Khammam (Telangana) and 110 km east-southeast of Hanamkonda (Telangana). It is very likely to move further west-northwestwards and gradually weaken into a Well marked low Pressure area during next 12 hours.

Warnings: (i) Rainfall warning  13th October 2020: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places and Extremely heavy rainfall (>20 cm per day) at isolated places would occur over Telangana and adjoining Districts of north Interior Karnataka; heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka, remaining districts of North Interior Karnataka, south Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra & Marathawada and heavy falls at isolated places over north Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, south Odisha, south Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.

Spatial rainfall distribution: Isolated: ≤25%, A few: 26-50%, Many: 51-75%, Most: 76-100% Rainfall amount (mm): Heavy rain: 64.5 – 115.5, Very heavy rain: 115.6 – 204.4, Extremely heavy rain: 204.5 or more.

 14th October 2020: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places and Extremely heavy rainfall (>20 cm per day) at isolated places would occur over Madhya Maharashtra and south Konkan & Goa, heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over north Konkan, north interior Karnataka and Marathawada and heavy falls at isolated places over coastal & south interior Karnataka. (ii) Wind warning  Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely to prevail over Telangana & adjoining North Interior Karnataka during next 12 hours and gradually decrease thereafter. (iii) Damage expected Telangana and adjoining districts of north interior Karnataka  Some damage to paddy crops, banana, papaya trees and orchards & drumstick trees and Horticultural crops. Minor damage to Kutcha embankments due to heavy rain.
