M–Jill Rutten, NC State All-America team that combined all F–Bettina Bernardi, Texas A&M D–Carla Werden, North Carolina F–Brandi Chastain, Santa Clara three divisions. Starting in 1986, Division III selected its own team, F–Moira Buckley, Connecticut F–Michelle Akers, UCF F–Lisa Cole, SMU but Divisions I and II continued to F–Stacey Flionis, Massachusetts F–Joy Biefeld, California F–Mia Hamm, North Carolina select one team. February 21, 2007 1 A JOINT RESOLUTION HONORING THE WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM AT THE 2 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL ON BECOMING 3 THE 2006 NCAA NATIONAL WOMEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONS. 4 Whereas, the women's soccer program at The University of North Carolina at 5 Chapel Hill warrants recognition and a commendation for its outstanding record of 6 excellence; and 7 Whereas, since 1979, the women's soccer program has achieved an overall 8 record of 629-28-18, becoming the most successful women's collegiate soccer program 9 in history; and 10 Whereas, on December 2, 2006, the women's soccer team won the NCAA 11 National Championship by defeating the University of Notre Dame by a score of 2-1, 12 giving the women's soccer program its 18th national championship title; and 13 Whereas, the women's soccer team finished the 2006 Atlantic Coast 14 Conference (ACC) season as the regular season champions with a record of 10-0 and 15 won the ACC tournament for the 17th time in its 19-year history; and 16 Whereas, the women's soccer team completed the 2006 season with an overall 17 record of 27-1-0, which included a 27-game
