Using Hoopla to Borrow Ebooks, Audiobooks, Music and Movies Using Hoopla to borrow ebooks, audiobooks, music and movies Getting started with Hoopla is easy. Go to www.hoopladigital.com or click on the link on the library’s website, www.monroetwplibrary.org. Then click on Log In. Select Sign Up Now to create an account. Click on Monroe Township Library or enter Monroe Township Library in the search box. Then fill out the account information, including your email address, password and library card number. Click on Sign Up Now and you are ready to go! You can start looking for titles by clicking on Browse Titles. Or you can search for authors, titles, etc., type your search into the search box. You can then sort the results by format: audiobook, ebook, music, movies, television, comics. When you click on the title, you will get more information including a description. You then can click on Borrow and start enjoying your content! Other Hoopla details: You can borrow 5 titles per month, in any combination of formats. How long can I borrow titles? o Audiobooks, ebooks, and comics = 21 days o Music = 7 days o Movies and tv content = 72 hours (or 3 days) All titles are available for streaming using hoopladigital.com on a PC/Mac. Borrowed titles are for streaming and a temporary download on iOS and Android devices. According to Andy Rubin, one of Android’s founders, Android Inc. was to develop “smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner’s location and preferences.” Rubin further stated, “If people are smart, that information starts getting aggregated into consumer products.” The year was 2003 and the location was Palo Alto, California. This was the year Android was born. While Android, Inc. started operations secretly, today the entire world knows about Android. It is no secret that Android is an operating system (OS) for modern day smartphones, tablets, and soon-to-be laptops, but what exactly does that mean? What did Android used to look like? How has it gotten where it is today? All of these questions and more will be answered in this brief chapter. Which one has the power to run the latest online educational content such as Kno™ online textbooks and BioDigital Human™? Which one offers the best visual experience when using Chromecast™ in the classroom? Each model delivers a different experience for teachers teaching and students learning in the classroom. Here in the Principled Technologies labs, we put on our teacher hats and looked at an Intel® Core™ i3 processor-powered Chromebook and an ARM® processor-based Chromebook. We performed tasks a science teacher might include while giving a lesson in the classroom, such as using a Kno online textbook and looking at different 3D anatomy models in BioDigital Human. We measured aspects of user experience that would matter to students and teachers—time to complete tasks and frame rate. Which Chromebook is the better choice for teaching in the classroom? We found that the Intel Core i3 processor-powered Chromebook outperformed the ARM processor-based Chromebook across the board, delivering up to 250.0 percent more frames per second than the ARM processor-based Chromebook when using BioDigital Human with Chromecast. The Intel Core i3 processor-powered Chromebook also took just over half the time to complete a series of tasks, including opening BioDigital Human over 22 seconds faster than the ARM processor-based Chromebook.
