PAOLO PECCHIOLI Bass

Italian bass Paolo Pecchioli has established himself as one of the most charismatic and versatile singers performing today. Since his debut as Don Tritemio in Il Filosofo di Campagna with the Settimana Musicale Senese in Siena, he has continued to bring his compelling artistry to the world’s leading houses, concert halls and festivals, singing more than 60 principal roles in theaters around the world. Recent engagements include Commendatore in Don Giovanni with Opera Syracuse, Verdi’s Requiem in concert at Teatro Verdi di Pisa, Dulcamara in L’Elisir d’Amore at Casciana Terme in Tuscany, Basilio in Victorian Opera’s production of Barber of Seville, and Commendatore in Don Giovanni, also with Teatro Verdi di Pisa. Pecchioli’s diverse operatic repertoire includes portrayals of Alidoro in Cenerentola at Opera Ireland and the Washington National Opera; Assur in Semiramide in Pisa in an acclaimed production by Stefano Vizzioli; Mustafà in L’italiana in Algeri in Novara, Pisa and Pittsburgh Opera; Selim in Il Turco in Italia in Novara; Il Viaggio a Reims conducted by Nicola Luisotti at Il Teatro Carlo Felice; Orbazzano in Tancredi in Sassari, as well as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia in Novara, Sassari and Grange Park. Verdi roles include Zaccaria at Holland Park; Ferrando in Il Trovatore in Ravenna in a production by Cristina Muti; Silva in Ernani also at Ravenna; Jérusalem conducted by Bruno Campanella at the di Torino; Il Conte di Walter in Luisa Miller in Bussetto conducted by Romano Gandolfi in Como, Pavia and Piacenza, Franco Zeffirelli’s Aida in various Italian cities and the Bolshoi in Moscow, both as the King and Ramfis. Bel Canto roles include Oroveso in Bellini’s in Murcia, Valencia and Trapani; Sir Georgio Valton in I Puritani in Pamplona; Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor in Murcia; Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore in Ascoli, Murcia and Pittsburgh Opera, and the title role in in Cosenza. His most frequently performed roles are Colline in La Bohème, which he sang with the Washington National Opera, Opera Ireland, Novara and Mantua. In Puccini’s Tosca he has performed the role of Angelotti and The Sacristan at the Baalbeck Festival, Savona, Ascoli Piceno and Bangkok. Mozartean repertoire includes both Figaro and Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro in Ascoli Piceno and various cities in Korea; Leporello and Masetto in Don Giovanni at the in Barcelona and Vicenza directed by Calixto Bieito and Don Alfonso in Cosí fan tutte in Hanoi.
