Mondiali Nuoto Roma09. 36 anni di competizioni e gare venerdì 17 luglio 2009 Da 36 anni si disputano i Campionati mondiali di nuoto, organizzati dalla Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA). In occasione della XIII edizione di Roma, tracciamo la loro storia. di Arianna Luciani Speciale Mondiali di Nuoto Roma09 36 ANNI DI MONDIALI – Tutto ebbe inizio nel 1973, a Belgrado, nell’ex Jugoslavia. Lì, per la prima volta al mondo, si svolsero i primi Mondiali di nuoto. Lì, i veri trionfatori furono gli atleti statunitensi – in primis Jim Montgomery , che conquistò l’oro nei 100 e 200 sl – e che portarono a casa 15 ori, 17 argenti e 5 bronzi. Dopo di loro, la Repubblica Democratica Tedesca, che inserì nel suo medagliere 13 ori, 6 argenti e altrettanti bronzi. Buon risultato, in quell’occasione, fu anche quello italiano: due medaglie d’oro, una per Novella Calligaris negli 800 stile libero, conquistati in 8,52,97, e uno per Klaus Dibiasi , per i tuffi dalla piattaforma da 10 metri. Sempre per lui un argento, stavolta dai 3 metri dal trampolino, e i due bronzi di Novella rispettivamente nei 400 stile libero e nei 400 misti donne. Nei campionati mondiali di nuoto si assegnano i titoli mondiali delle diverse specialità del nuoto, del nuoto di fondo, dei tuffi, del nuoto sincronizzato e della pallanuoto. Dall’inizio, ovvero da Belgrado 1978, tutte le gare di nuoto si sono svolte in vasca lunga, cioè in una piscina lunga 50 metri, come per le Olimpiadi. Nei vent'anni successivi sono state disputate varie edizioni dei mondiali con frequenza variabile, ma sempre in vasca lunga. Nel 1993 sono stati introdotti anche i campionati mondiali in vasca corta, ovvero nella piscina di 25 metri, in alternanza alle edizioni in vasca lunga. A partire dal 2000 i campionati mondiali di nuoto si svolgono con cadenza annuale: in vasca lunga negli anni dispari, in vasca corta in quelli pari. QUALE CITTÀ PER LA XIV EDIZIONE NEL 2013? - Dopo Belgrado nel 1978, tre anni dopo a Cali, in Colombia, poi a Berlino Ovest, nell’allora Repubblica Federale Tedesca nel 1978. Quattro anni dopo i mondiali si sono disputati a Guayaquil, in Equador, e quattro anni dopo a Madrid. La sesta edizione si è svolta nel 1991 a Perth, in Australia, seguita da quella di Roma nel 1994, per poi tornare di nuovo a Perth nel 1998. Nel 2001 i mondiali sono sbarcati in Asia, precisamente a Fukuoka, in Giappone, per tornare nel 2003 in Spagna, ma stavolta a Barcellona; nel 2005 è la volta di Montreal, poi di nuovo l’Australia nel 2007. E nel 2009 è di nuovo la volta di Roma. Per la prossima edizione, la Fina ha annunciato che sette città sono in lizza per ospitare la XIV edizione: Belgrado, Budapest e Balatonfüred, Dubai, Amburgo, Hong Kong, Madrid e Mosca. All’incontro di Roma, il 18 luglio, la Fina darà l’annuncio della scelta. IL MEDAGLIERE ITALIANO – Negli anni, la nostra nazione ha guadagnato molto negli sport acquatici, a partire dall’oro e dal bronzo di Giorgio Lamberti nel 1991 a Perth nei 200 e 100 sl, poi l’oro di Filippo Magnini nella stessa specialità a Montreal nel 2005, che si è ripetuto nella successiva edizione di Melborune, stavolta a pari merito con il canadese Brent Hayden . Nel 2001, a Fukuoka in Giappone, Emiliano Brembilla conquista il bronzo nei 400 stile libero uomini, mentre l’oro lo prende con facilità l’australiano Ian Thorpe , indiscusso trionfatore di quell’edizione, e delle due a venire. Nel 2007 a Melbourne arriva il bronzo di Federico Colbertaldo negli 800 sl, nel 1998 a Perth Brembilla vince un argento nei 1500 sl; nel 2005 a Montreal c’è l’argento per Federica Pellegrini nei 200 stile libero, battuta dalla francese Solenne Figues , mentre due anni dopo a Melbourne conquista il terzo posto, dietro a Laure Manadou . Argento nel 1991 a Perth per Stefano Battistelli nei 200 dorso uomini, mentre nei 200 dorso donne a Roma 1994 si piazza Lorenza Vigarini , stesso risultato nel 2001 a Fukuoka per Domenico Fioravanti nei 50 rana, e a Perth nel 1991 per Gianni Minervini nei 100 rana. Poi arriva un argento per Fioravanti nel 2001 a Fukuoka, bronzo a Melbourne per Loris Facci nei 200 rana, bronzo per Giovanni Franceschi nel 1982 a Guayaquil nei 200 misti uomini.
