Here Was No Stopping the Mighty Erewash Who Were Unbeaten Throughout the Tournament theHallParkAcademy newsletter July 2018 As we approach the end of this academic year, it’s important to reflect on and celebrate the many varied achievements of all of our young people over the last twelve months. It was wonderful to recognise formally the hard work and contributions of our Year 11 students with parents at their Commendation Evening, and then to be able to celebrate together with these same students at what was a fantastic Year 11 Prom. Our Year 13 students also celebrated the end of their examination period and move towards pastures new at an equally enjoyable Prom, and we wish all of our Year 11 and Year 13 students every deserved success in their examination results in August and thank them for the outstanding contribution they have made to our school community throughout their time with us. Our Sports Celebration Evening allowed us to recognise and celebrate the sporting achievements of so many of our students over the course of this academic year, both as individuals in their chosen sporting field, and as members of our numerous sports teams. The level and variety of sporting achievements over the course of this school year has been outstanding, and we look forward to more of the same next year! The House Celebration Evenings gave us the opportunity to celebrate so much of what our young people consistently do so well through their academic work and contributions to the wider life of our school, with each House representing really well the outstanding talents of our students at their own celebration evening. Looking to the future, during this half-term we held our Year 6 Induction Day and Evening for our new Year 7 students and parents who will be joining us in September, and we look forward immensely to working with the newest members of our school and their parents in the coming years as we help each of these to fulfil their full potential as members of our school community. Thank you to all parents and staff for all of your support throughout this academic year. Have a great summer! Mr Keogh - Head of School As another year comes to a close at Hall Park, it is an opportunity to reflect on the journey made over the last 12 months. A key measure of how well a school is doing is shown in the number of parents actively selecting Hall Park as their preferred choice of school. I am pleased to report that the upcoming Year 7 numbers have exceeded our pupil admission number for the first time in recent years. We also welcome students from a wider range of feeder schools, beyond the catchment. This pattern is repeated in the sixth form with more external applicants applying for places than ever before. Obviously the true measure of how well a school is doing is the results it achieves in its examination outcomes. Students in both Year 11 and Year 13 have worked very hard again and we are confident that they will be justly rewarded with excellent results in August. Finally, I would like to say thank you and farewell to a number of staff who will be leaving us at the end of this year. Ms Carr, Mr Maddick and Mr Russell are moving to new opportunities in other schools. Ms Roe and Ms Richell are taking time out of teaching to spend time with family and exploring new ventures. Ms Berridge and Mr Doyle are moving to promoted posts and Mr Jackson is retiring from his position as Head of Faculty to move into a different role in education. On behalf of the staff at Hall Park, I wish them the very best of luck for the future. Have a great summer and see you in September. Mrs Dyce - Executive Headteacher www.hallparkacademy.org.uk www.twitter.com/hallparkacademy Year 7 Athletics Championships This was the first athletics event for the Year 7’s and it did not disappoint! We travelled to Bramcote College to take part in numerous track and fielding events and compete against 5 other Broxtowe schools. Firstly, I would like to congratulate all students for their brilliant spirit, enthusiasm, passion, dedication and extremely loud chanting! It was great to see the students support one another whether winning or losing. Alongside the beautiful weather, we also had several students who performed fantastically including: 200m: Lucy Macfarlane 3rd, Nathan Papworth 3rd. 100m: Bobby Oldham 3rd, Oscar Carroll 3rd and Rubi Miller 3rd. Discus: Ashleigh Fletcher 2nd. 300m: Theo Parker 1st. Shot Put: Hannah Birch A big thank you to our Sports Leaders Amy Rutherford and Kasey Hinchley for representing the school so well. School Rounders Year 8/9 The girls kicked off the rounders season with the first tournament of the year which was hosted by George Spencer school. Prior to the tournament the girls were keen to do well and continue to improve which resulted in us practising 2/3 times a week including lunch times! All of their additional work paid off as their fielding was brilliant and stopped many of the other schools best batters from scoring. Not to mention Kasey Hinchley and Caitlin Inskter’s determination to dob people out on fourth base even if it meant crawling, diving and dabbing! The results were extremely close on many of the games and they even managed to beat local rivals Kimberley. Year 7 Similar to the year 8/9 team, the girls were keen to improve and learn how to play rounders as none of them had ever played properly before. Both teams willingly trained 2/3 times a week and again this was evident with their impressive batting and fielding skills. Both teams had a slow start in their opening games, however were quick to impress in their following games resulting in them winning 2 out of 5 of their games. Both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship and enthusiasm for both their own teams and opponents. A special mention to Rubi Miller who got the “catch of the tournament”! Inter-House Rounders What an event! Over 50 students attended this years rounders tournaments with the biggest teams being represented by Lawrence and Collier. All teams showed outstanding sportsmanship both throughout the games and at the end, regardless of the result. This event was definitely the loudest of the year with numerous screams and cheers when their players scored or when Bobby Oldham and Emily Carrol caught teachers out! Despite all of the houses hard work and consistency there was no stopping the mighty Erewash who were unbeaten throughout the tournament. A big thank you to Ms Pegler, Mr Hassall, Mr Hoddle & Ms Paget for your support throughout. PE Student Focus - Abbie Staples Abbie is currently in Year 10 taking her GCSEs including GCSE PE. She is studying hard to achieve the top GCSE grades. Alongside her theory studies Abbie has a keen interest in football and has a natural ability within this sport. Throughout her time here at Hall Park Abbie has attended the school training sessions and helped other pupils improve their footballing skills. Alongside training at school Abbie has been attending clubs outside of school which have led to her being requested to attend trials for both Nottingham Forest Academy and Leicester Academy. Badminton Club The GCSE badminton club continues to go from strength to strength. Students from Year 9 and Year 10 participate on a weekly basis on Friday lunch time in a competition between each other. This provides valuable experience towards their final practical grade and ensures they have a log of competitive matches. The levels of skill have increased significantly and through this additional practice time the PE department are hoping this will be reflected in their GCSE final practical grades. Sports Day Congratulations to Collier house, the 2018 sports day champions ammassing over 1000 points - an outstanding achievement! Students were nominated for an award by the PE staff in a number of areas including; Core PE, GCSE PE, Service to Sport, Sports Ties, Key Stage 5 and Sports Personality of the Year. We would like to congratulate all students who were nominated for each award and those who won. • The White Hills Park Federation Trust Student Admissions Arrangements
Bramcote College Student Admissions Arrangements 2020-2021 Bramcote College is a member of The White Hills Park Trust. Special consideration for all year groups Special consideration may be given to applications that are supported by written evidence from a doctor, social worker or other relevant professional giving reasons why the school is the only school which could cater for the child’s particular needs. This might include medical needs, mobility support needs, special educational needs or other social circumstances. The evidence must be presented at the time of application. The Directors will consider the written evidence provided to decide whether the application may be processed as special circumstances. Admission under special circumstances will have priority over all but the first numbered criterion. The White Hills Park Trust have adopted the Home Local Authority’s stance on Fair Access Protocols. Local Authorities are required to have Fair Access Protocols in order to make sure that unplaced children who live in the home local authority, especially the most vulnerable, are offered a place at a suitable school as quickly as possible. This includes admitting children above the published admissions number to schools that are already full. Standard admission Criteria for Year 7 Applications must be made through your home local authority. For Nottinghamshire residents, this can be found on the Nottinghamshire County Council website www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/learning/schools/admissions and applications should be completed by the closing date for applications as stated in the Nottinghamshire Coordinated scheme. Oversubscription Criteria In the event of oversubscription, the following criteria will be applied, in priority order, to decide which applications will be granted once places have been allocated to pupils who have a statement of special educational needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan which names the school provided that the school can meet their needs: 1.

This can include: Full‐Time Study – this could be a qualification taken at a sixth form, college or training provider, totalling 540 hours of learning time per year, or around 18 hours per week. Apprenticeships – this involves working for an employer while studying for a qualification as part of your training. Usually, work makes up 80% of an apprenticeship and at least 20% (or one day a week) should be dedicated to studying. Traineeships – this is an option for students who would like to do an apprenticeship but may not have the experience, skills or qualifications to do so yet. Traineeships can last up to six months and involve a work placement, Maths and English qualifications and support with finding an apprenticeship. Part‐Time Study with Employment or Volunteering – this could be working in a full‐time job (classed as any work that takes place over more than two months and is over 20 hours per week) or volunteering (again, over 20 hours per week) while studying part‐ time at a college or training provider (totalling 280 hours of learning per year).

  • The White Hills Park Trust Issue 246- 1St May 2020
Newsletter The White Hills Park Trust Issue 246- 1st May 2020 Working with others and strengthening partnerships As a Trust, one of our key guiding principles has always been that we work in generous collaboration with others. We can benefit from the expertise and skill of colleagues in other schools and organisations, but we also believe that we have much to offer to others as well. As long as all parties behave ethically and work in the interest of the public good, then collaboration can only be helpful. During the current crisis, this has been emphasised more than ever. We have strengthened existing partnerships and forged new ones as we’ve responded to the extraordinary circumstances in which we have found ourselves. A perfect example of this has been the way that we have worked with our partner primary schools. At an early stage, we closed the sites of both Bramcote College and Alderman White. This meant that we could support the lockdown by reducing the number of people travelling in to work, and thereby putting themselves and others potentially at risk. We were only able to do this because of the fact that our primary schools agreed to accommodate the small number of students who still needed to come into school. We are hugely grateful to them for working together in this way. As we now begin to consider strategies for the gradual easing of restrictions, which may include steps towards the re-opening of schools, we will continue to work together to share capacity where necessary. We know that transition to Year 7 will look very different this year, given the restrictions, so we will work with primary schools to provide as seamless a transition programme as possible.
