As well as a lot of awful footballer autobiographies. In this crowded market it’s important to try to make your book leap from the crowd like Sergio Ramos at a corner and demand attention. A catchy, interesting title can help significantly with that. On the other hand, if you’re a footballer, you’re already instantly recognisable to anybody who might buy and read it anyway, and you have access to a loyal fanbase that consistently proves itself willing to part with hard-earned money for any old rubbish they are served up (bad performances, third kits, club shop tat etc.), so why bother? And not bothering is very much the watchword for many players who clearly think that a nice snap and a simple title will do. Hence the plethora of ‘My Story’, ‘My Life in Football’ or ‘My Autobiography’ efforts clogging up the shelves. Surely we can do better than that? We’re not saying everyone needs to call their book Snod This for a Laugh,1 but come on.

  • 2017 Town of Pembroke Annual Report
2017 TOWN OF PEMBROKE ANNUAL REPORT JANUARY 1, 2017 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2017 ANNUAL REPORTS OF THE TOWN OFFICERS JANUARY 1, 2017 - DECEMBER 31, 2017 COVER PICTURE: Civil War Memorial, located in front of the First Church and across from the Town Hall, 100 Center Street. The monument was dedicated on June 12, 1889. The primary inscription reads, “Erected by the Citizens of Pembroke to Commemorate the Brave Deeds of Their Loyal Sons in the War for the Preservation of the Union, 1861-1865.” The base of the pedestal is made of Hallowell granite and the pedestal and statue of zinc or “white bronze” which is cast hollow and therefore significantly less expensive. It was constructed at a cost of $1,056. The Ladies Sanitary Aid Society of Pembroke, who worked throughout the war to aid soldiers, contributed the balance of their treasury. The contractor was the White Bronze Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut, represented during the ceremonies by Brainard Cushing, Esq. of Rockland who extolled the enduring nature of the medium which would last, he said, long after granite monuments had crumbled away. He also mentioned that the “parade rest” stance of the soldier was symbolic–the soldier’s work is done, but he still stands ready. British Canoeing Canoe Slalom Junior, U23 & Senior Selection Policy 2020 Note – To be read in conjunction with 2020 Olympic Team Selection Policy Published 11.12.2018 Introduction – Mark Ratcliffe, Head Coach Canoe Slalom: ''2019 was a big year for our British team athletes with an amazing home World Cup, successes at age group Championships, and an incredibly competitive Olympic selection process culminating at the World Championships. Great Britain gained hard earnt Olympic quotas in each Olympic category and we have selected a fantastic team to represent our sport next year in Tokyo. I'd like to pay tribute to all the athletes who have been incredible this year and wish the Olympic team every success out in Tokyo. I'd also like to thank every volunteer, parent, coach and judge who have supported athletes. This year’s selection series offers a great opportunity to integrate junior, U23 and Senior paddlers and as ever places will be tightly fought as we look to continually improve the quality and depth of our GB Slalom teams.
