The initial roster features seven players including LaMonte Wade, Zander Wiel, Omar Bencomo, Ryne Harper, Randy LeBlanc, Williams Ramirez and Todd Van Steensel. The 2018 All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, June 19 at Regions Field in Birmingham, Alabama. LaMonte Wade will be making his third straight appearance in a Mid-Season All-Star Game. The outfielder was an All-Star in 2016 with Cedar Rapids and in 2017 with the Lookouts. This season, Wade is hitting .303 (47-for-155) with seven homers and 25 RBIs. Joining Wade on the squad is fellow outfielder Zander Wiel. This nomination will mark Wiel’s first trip to an All-Star Game. This season the Vanderbilt grad is leading the team with a .310 average and is tied for third in the league in hits with 61. Representing the Lookouts top-notch starting rotation will be Omar Bencomo and Randy LeBlanc. Bencomo’s 4-0 record and league leading 2.08 ERA led to his call up to Triple-A Rochester. In his only start with the Red Wings the righty only allowed one hit in six innings of work. Right behind Bencomo in ERA is LeBlanc. Before heading to the Disabled List, LeBlanc had a team-high six wins and sported an ERA of 2.17. Rounding out the team’s All-Stars is their trio of relievers. Ryne Harper has only appeared in 11 games for the Lookouts but posted a dominant 0.77 ERA in the month of May. The Tennessee native is also 5-for-5 in save opportunities this season. The only Lookouts player with more saves than Harper is Williams Ramirez. Ramirez has collected six saves this year and had a 2.79 ERA in April. Todd Van Steensel has also been lights out for Chattanooga. The righty has had 15 appearances of two or more innings and has a 1.71 ERA. He has also racked up 36 to just nine walks.
