We Are the RubberDucks On October 29, 2013, team owner Ken Babby stood before a capacity audience at the Akron Civic Theater and announced that the team would be known henceforth as the Akron RubberDucks. In addition to being symbolic of the fun, family-friendly brand of entertainment offered by , the name also honors Akron’s long history as the “Rubber Capital of the World.” Brandiose Marketing of San Diego, California designed the team logo, colors, and various marks and insignias. Please note that for print coverage, RubberDucks is spelled as one word with a capital “D.” In broadcast coverage, referring to the team as “the ‘Ducks” is an acceptable variation of the team’s nickname.
