That’s 46 years of incredible loyalty. In fact he’s only missed one friendly and that was through no fault of his own. An air traffic control strike prevented him from boarding a flight to Toronto – he had a match ticket and a flight ticket. Brian Clough lasted 44 days. Jock Stein lasted 44 days. Another 19 managers have come and gone (20 if you include Eddie Gray twice – although he’s far from gone, given his role as commentator on Yorkshire Radio with the brilliant Thom Kirwin, hospitality stuff and complete and utter devotion to Leeds United) and Brian McDermott is the latest man to depart Elland Road.

Monday, 21 January 2007 Ken Bates reveals that United have paid £15.9m to agents, former players and ex- managers since he took control in 2005. Leeds have paid £5m to HMRC in the past two years with another £2.6m due before 2008. Although the wage bill has fallen by £1m from £13.4m last year, the club are paying £1.6m a year to rent Elland Road and Thorp Arch. Tuesday, 30 January 2007 The Guardian reports that former Leeds director Melvyn Levi is preparing legal proceedings to recover £1m in loans secured against the now-defunct company that owned Leeds United. The final claim could total between £4m and £5m. The 62- year-old was a member of Gerald Krasner‟s Yorkshire consortium. Levi's claim follows an action which led to a winding-up order being issued against the company, then called Romans Heavies Ltd, last June. Saturday, 10 March 2007 Ken Bates writes in United‟s match day The Guardian – 30 January 2007 programme: “I certainly touched a raw nerve when I took the lid off the Melvyn Levi scandal. He promptly rang his pet columnist who writes in a national newspaper and followed it up with a TV interview in the spacious gardens of his magnificent house. Apart from a lot of hot air he avoided the whole central issue and never was he asked any questions by the interviewer Harry Gration, who certainly is no Jeremy Paxman.

    MuxCo North Yorkshire Limited An application to Ofcom for the North Yorkshire local DAB digital radio multiplex Part A – Public Section September 2007 Executive summary Please provide a summary of your application, of no more than four pages in length. Our Beliefs 1. Radio is in the second phase of development of DAB. In phase one, the larger heritage operators colonised the DAB landscape, simulcasting popular analogue stations and introducing some new digital only services. In the second phase, smaller and new radio operators have entered the market to create new audio and data services and to drive the industry forward with new ideas and business models. 2. MuxCo North Yorkshire Ltd (‘MuxCo Yorks’) believes that digital radio broadcasting should be available to as many organisations as possible. In addition, a multiplex should offer a wide range of broadcast options, such as bit rates, hours of broadcast etc, making DAB as economical as possible to service providers, and thereby helping to maximise the take-up of digital radio. 3. We believe that with launch of more national services over the next 12 months, it is financially prudent to encourage a range of local operators to broadcast. Local (and regional) services have the ability to attract a mixture of local and national revenue, giving them multiple opportunities to support their businesses. The North Yorkshire Marketplace 4. The first dedicated commercial radio service in North Yorkshire launched in 1992 - Minster FM. Whilst other local services, as well as regional and national radio, have launched over the last 15 years, the current choice of commercial radio in the county remains relatively poor.

    Review of 2007/08 – Part 1 – Minus 15 On 8 May 2001, Leeds United were in Valencia‘s Mestalla Stadium tilting at a place in the Champions League final. Six years later the club was relegated to the third tier of English football for the first time and pitched into the maelstrom of financial administration; it was an astonishing fall from grace. At the end of a disastrous 2006/07 season, failure to beat Ipswich Town at Elland Road on 28 April had all but confirmed relegation. United had a game still to play, but the vast inferiority of their goal difference made the task of overtaking Hull City, even if they could eradicate the three- point gap, a remote mathematical possibility. With the club‘s financial position brittle to say the least, United chairman Ken Bates saw his opportunity and the club opened feverish discussions with the accountants, KPMG. By 4 May Leeds United had been placed in administration and the business and assets sold to Leeds United Football Club Limited, a new company set up by Bates and his fellow directors. This claim is brought by the First and Second Claimants who are a married couple against the Defendants. They claim damages and an injunction for harassment. The circumstances are somewhat unusual and there is a complicated commercial background to the case which will require some explanation. I intend however to adopt a relatively neutral and simple explanation as to the background history before setting out the Claimants` specific allegations of harassment against the Defendants. The situation is further complicated by the fact that the First Claimant sued the First Defendant for libel in respect of some alleged acts of harassment and recovered damages of £50,000 in 2009. It is accepted that he cannot be compensated twice for the same acts. 2. The Background The First Claimant is a businessman and in 2004 he decided to get involved in the management of a football club, Leeds United. At the time they were in the Premier League but were in serious financial difficulty.

This appeal raises the important question: to what extent, if at all, may a person who has been harmed (or who anticipates harm) from harassment aimed at someone else (the target) avail herself of the protection of the civil remedies afforded under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 (“the Act”)? In this case the Second Appellant, Mrs. Carole Levi, was found by the trial judge to have suffered alarm and distress as the result of the pursuit by the First Respondent, Mr. Kenneth Bates, of a personal grudge against her husband, Mr. Melvyn Levi, the First Appellant, arising out of their mutual business dealings, which manifested itself in conduct between 2005 and 2011 which the judge found amounted to the statutory tort of harassment against him.
