Khru DOC celebrates 30 years in the Family !! Date: 17 May 2021 – Revisions #0 on ????-????-????

สวัสดีครับ Sawasdee krab … Hello from AoNang Krabi . This is Khru Doc, I started to train in Muay Thai in 1990, got certified as an U.W.M.T.A. junior instructor [under Khru VUT Kamnark] and worked up to being (1 of 4) Senior Instructors in the year 2000. ครูตาก (Khru Doc) ADD Link = https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100050750513518 My wife Zina was the first lady instructor & professional Muay Thai Announcer and my son Dj was the youngest instructor in the U.W.M.T.A. in America. We owned CKC Gym/Camp in Concord CA USA from 1990 to 2004, I visited Thailand in 2004 & 2005 and in 2006 sold everything in the USA, left our careers/jobs, our kids/grandkids and moved to Thailand … krab !!

We were sponsored by Fairtex Thailand. I got close to Fairtex through Nok Muay Alex Gong in San Francisco CA and he connected me with Mr. Wong Fairtex. We trained in Fairtex San Francisco, then in and we were managers at the Fairtex Grand Resort & Gym in and its Grand Opening in the year 2006 !! That is why I have a Fairtex tattoo on my leg … krab !! In the years 2007 and 2008 Khru VUT Kamnark became the Muay Thai manager at Fairtex Pattaya thru our Divine Destiny Muay Thai connections !!

I am now celebrating 30 years in the Muay Thai Family, 15 in the USA and now 15 in Thailand; to say the least it has been AMAZING krab !! LOL. I want to share 30+ things I have learned in Muay Thai …

Muay Thai Culture-History-Tradition = 30+ years !! >>> NOTE: Everything shared in this WordDOC-PDF is per Khru DOC’s experiences and perspectives. Khru DOC does not claim everything he says is absolute truth but only things he has experienced and learned through asking questions. In Buddhism, some say there are no absolute truths and only truths that you have been en-lighted by. Buddha taught many things that Khru DOC agrees with (even though He is a Christian Pastor) so as you read his experiences may YOU be en-lighted by his thoughts on Muay Thai Culture-History-Tradition !!

1- มวยไทย= muayM thaiM One WORD describes Muay Thai !! >>> I encourage everyone to get some basic knowledge of Thailand’s language so you can have fun saying and sharing some meaningful words. Muay = Fight and Thai = Thailand so a true translation is not Thai Boxing which some of the Muay Thai College Professors I met do not like Boxing or the world Boxing. One WORD that best describes Muay Thai is = “Thailand” … krab !! To ME, you must know Thailand’s Culture-History-Traditions to really really [Jing Jing krab] know Muay Thai.

2- สวัสดีครับ= saL watL deeM khrapH - khaaF You have to say this !! >>> The has Five TONES like music notes !! Low, High, Medium, Falling and Rising so you must sing the sounds and not just say them or the Thai people will not understand you. For us English people, one word means one word but to the Thai people; one word can mean FIVE different things !! I have my students know how to say Muay Thai which is really easy because it is a flat Medium Tone. Saying Sawasdee khrab for guys and Sawasdee khaa for girls has Low-Low-Medium-High or Falling tones … krab !!!! Go to this WebSite to hear how to say this = http://www.thai-language.com/dict/

3- Thailand is the biggest Buddhist Country next to … Buddha fights !! >>> How does the most passive, humble, meek, serving and lady soft men in the world make a National Sport that has the most BODY Bruising, BONE Crushing and BLOODiest Sport in the world ?? It took me a long time, like 20 years to learn the answer to this question and most Muay Thai people in Thailand cannot answer this question … krab !!

In old school Hindu and Buddhism they use extreme Fasting, PAIN and Bleeding to gain En-Lightenment !! The only thing I understand in this is “No Pain No Gain !!” and/or “Bad things are going to make you Better or Bitter.” To ME, the most amazing people in the world, are the people that have gone THROUGH the most painful and difficult problems and they have used them to make them the BEST they can be. In reference to fighting, the biggest example I know is PAC-Man, the Filipino World Boxing Champion from the Philippine Islands (note I am Filipino) !! He grew up as a street rat, really bad poverty and as a child going through this type of life; it can make you as tough as anyone on earth !! PAC-Man did many fights in Thailand and I actually got to train with his boxing coach at a Lumpinee Stadium Gym which is gone now that the New Lumpinee is built. I could write a Book on this but please allow me to say one last thing. Muay Thai an En-Lightenment training event, a RING is a place of fasting, pain and bleeding so that experience can make you better in your Spirit-SOUL … wow krab !!

4- Monks were the teachers of Thailand, Temples the Centers, Muay Thai !! Khru DOC teaches Old School = Spirit-Soul-BODY !! >>> Some say Muay Thai is the center and a rock training in the Nation of Thailand. I did not learn this until I moved to Thailand. The first thing the Monks taught the boys was Muay Thai, this training is a way to make a Boy into a Man. The Thailand Temples where the Centers of ALL the Thailand communities where kids go to school, where people learn and do business; and where things like cooking-farming-morals were all taught and experienced !! Most do not know that ALL Martial Arts like Japanese Karate’, Korean Tae Kwon Do and Chinese Kung Fu were all BODY/physically disciplines to teach Spirit-Soul life lessons so that Nations can be the BEST they can BE !! This is how I (Khru DOC) teach Muay Thai !!

5- What is the BEST Style of Muay Thai … the BEST Teacher ?? >>> Remember it starts at En-Lightenment !! Khru Kaet Sriapai clearly defines Thailand Muay Thai and most people do not understand this … he said he has studied Muay Thai with (13)+ teachers [note this] because it is totally different from Martial Arts and the focus on Masters !!

ALL Martial Arts like Japanese Karate’, Korean Tae Kwon Do and Chinese Kung Fu [note I love and have studied these Martial Arts, I was a fighter & Filipino Boxer] ALL focus on the Master; it is ALL about the Master of the Martial Art !! Muay Thai is not about the Masters, if anything it is about Thailand as a Nation, about Thailand’s KING and then ALL about the Fighter becoming the BEST they can BE in Royal Respect-SERVICE to the KING !! In Muay Thai it is about the Fighters, their Royal Respect QUEST to serve the KING of Thailand. IN order to do this; the Fighter must FIND teachers that match their natural skills, body types and personal abilities !! I personally have had many many trainers, I have learned sooo much Muay Thai; & in fact I have written a lot of it down because I forget IT !!

The BEST trainer I have personally trained with was a Raja Stadium Champ at age 24. He went into WBC Boxing, had over 50 fights/wins and became a Boxing Champ. At age 30, he did some special super fights in Muay Thai and found out he could KO the younger fighters with his Boxing counters. Then at age 32, he got to fight for his Raja Stadium Championship again; won by KO !! He was the BEST trainer for me because of his Boxing Skills !! In fact, after training with him, I did a fight and won by a Counter HOOK when my opponent tried to kick me !! What is the BEST Style of Muay Thai … the BEST Teacher ?? The BEST Muay Thai, the BEST Teacher and the BEST Gym/Camp … is the ONE … get ready for this IT is the ONE you LIKE and fits your personality, skills and abilities !!

6- (5) Techs = Fists, Elbows, Knees, Kicks, Clinches/Wrestling. >>> FIVE areas of Muay Thai, Fists-Punches (big knuckle bone strikes), Elbows-Knives (#1 cause of Blood in the fights, hardest human bones are the head and 2nd hardest human bone is the elbow tip bone and when they come together the SKIN splits), Knees-Clubs (generates the hardest combat strike of all; like a small car hitting you), KICKS (Full Body PUSHES and Baseball Home RUN swing strikes), Clinches/Wrestling (Stand up BJJ of Muay Thai, Grabs- Trips-Throws & sets up for other strikes) which the COMBOS of these FIVE areas are endless !!

7- (4) Modes = Light 1to1, Air, Bags/Tires, ThaiPads, Sparring 1to1. #1- Light 1 on 1 with a partner to see weapon use and target to hit, shadow sparring with a partner so this mode can produce full on sparring/fighting = old school training. #2- AIR, doing the techniques against the AIR. Note, you must first know the techniques and be able to visualize them on an opponent so you can do them against the AIR. #3- Doing techs against the Thai BAGS and/or a Thai Tire BOX bag. Note, the harder the bag or tire allows you to truly develop and know your striking weapon. #4- Actual Sparring 1 on 1 and/or as a group/team !! Once students get a good understanding of the techs; have them right away practice this on an opponent with full control and with Royal Respect-Honor-Humble-ness = “Iron Sharpens Iron” !!!! NOTE, (5) Techniques and (4) Modes is how Thailand Fighters train (2) times a day and about 3 to 4 hours in the morning and then at night = Six Times a Week taking Sunday off !!

8- Siam started about 1000 BC – Buddha came about 300 BC total CHANGE !! >>> The Thailand history I studied is not really into exact dates and times so please understand this. But the point I do want to make is that Siam/Thailand has been training fighters for a very long time and America/other Countries are very very New at training Muay Thai fighters !! Most people do not understand the CHANGE that Buddha did in South East Asia which was mainly Hindu and country type of witchcraft. Buddha brought a focus on personal en- lightenment which made people focus on Compassion-Helpfulness in suffering; and then to forget and not spend money and time on serving many many gods and temples around them.

9- 1774 Siam fell/became Thailand, Nai Khanomthom became Father, note USA >>> Around the year 1774, Siam fell to Burma, the head warrior to protect the King was fighter Nai, he and his other warriors pretended to protect the King in the Palace as the King escaped down the beautiful river and landed at Bangkok Thailand to start a New “Free Land” which is the meaning of Thailand. Most big tourist shows in Bangkok are all about this main event in history. Siam had 32 Kings, Thailand is now on King Rama 10 so you can see the deep history Siam brings as a foundation to Thailand. Also did you notice Thailand is same age as the USA ?? Note, Siam Warriors can mean “Dark Skin Fighters” so I believe the best fighters in Thailand are the dark skin ones mainly from the South; even though today Thailand loves and promotes White Skin actors and models. Foreigner girls want a dark tan & Thai girls want white skin … humans are so funny … krab !!!!

10- Wai Khru RAM Muay pre-fight became apart of the start of Muay Thai fights >>> Nok Muay Fighter Nai was captured in 1774 and Burma did a big festival which always had amazing fights as apart of the celebrations. Legend says they wanted to have Burma fight Siam fighters but Nai said no and if he can beat their best then let them go free and go back to Siam to rebuild it ?? The Burma King liked the bet/challenge so Nai fought 10 to 20 Burma fighters and beat them all by KO or death. NOTE, between fights, Nai did Wai Khru RAM Muay and legend says that sometimes the pre-fight ceremony was longer than the fights themselves !! The Burma people did not like this and to ME, Nai was smart and that is how he rested between fights in order to have the strength to WIN !! On the FULL Moon in April every year, it is SongKran = the Thai New Year and in where I have a Thai sponsored daughter; there are amazing festival fights at the Happy Bridge area; the boarder of Siam/Thailand and Burma/Myanmar there are full on, old school fights between these two countries which are fun & deadly !! They are bare knuckle fights and head butting is allowed. Because Thailand has way more fight experience, they usually win but Burma is starting to fight more and they get the Thai fighters once and awhile with the head butt strike … ouuuuch krab !! LOL.

>>> Side STORY … I was blessed to do trips to and the oldest Temples there are at Siem Reap (did you notice Siam is almost the same as Siem??) The Cambodians now claim to have started Muay Thai, they have the oldest Temple stone pictures in the world and they do have history fighters that are very brutal; not soft lady sneaky like the Thai fighters. IF you look at European Maps (foreigners love making maps and boarders) of Siam you will see how big a Country it was during the Suvarnabhumi era of time (Suvarnabhumi Airport = Biggest Thailand Airport). Note in those maps, Siam boarder went over the Siem/Siam Temple which means Siam built those temples because at one time that area was Siam !! A young Cambodian came up to me and told me Cambodia created Muay Thai. I said you are almost right but at the time of Creation you all were Siam – Thailand people … krab !! Today, Cambodia has built Muay Thai Stadiums in all their major cities, they are doing weekly fights and again they are really brutal in using the Elbow strikes; most of their fights end in KO’s … krab !!

11- 17 March is National Holiday, Ayutthaya/Siam big festival celebration !! >>> 17 March every year is Thailand/Siam Ayutthaya Muay Thai National holiday/festival. European Martial Arts have flooded this holiday with their people because of Tony Jaa’s Movies showing Muay Boran as the foundation of the Sport of Muay Thai = MT. I tried to go to this National holiday around 2012 and everything was fully booked 3 months in advanced !! To ME, people that love Martial Arts = MA but do not want to get into the RING have loved/accepted this Thailand movement as a MA because they can get into IT without getting into the RING !! To ME, that is the BIG difference between MA & MT… I get that quote from Tony Jaa himself which says the Thailand Kid Champ fighters can KO him the hoot OUT !! Last thing, this festival/holiday in Thailand really focuses on honoring Thailand, the KING and the Instructors of Muay Thai. Their main competition is the “Pre-Fight Ceremony” of the “Wai Khru RAM Muay” dance/movements. They are judged by how creative, soft, beautiful and traditional it can BE !! Do you WHO is the latest well known Champion of this Ceremony and he is still around today training teaching Muay Thai ?? I got to meet with him, stayed at his apartment place and did some training with him. He won (9) years in a row in Siam and in Thailand he is more famous for that vs. his great fighting skill and record. He is the Real “Sagat the Street Fighter” Train with him today = Video https://youtu.be/bMGbyX6fwZQ !!

12- 1920’s MuayBoran (Tony Jaa) = Sport MuayThai (Dr. ) >>> Many in Thailand look at Muay Thai and Muay Boran as the same; even though when you look the movements, you can clearly see a big difference. Around 1920’s is when Thailand started to make Muay Boran (Tony Jaa movies) into the National Sport Muay Thai (today’s most famous Fighter to ME = Dr. Saenchi which is getting up to 500 fights). How did this happen ?? Some say because of ’s influence on Thailand, they changed their flag to Red-White- Blue (like America which Rama 9’s parents flew to the East Coast to have him born as an American Citizen; USA’s main ally in the War was Thailand). Some say the Thai KING wanted a more civilized fighting Sport so Thailand took on the Queensberry Boxing Rules and Regulations from England. Many of the Thailand trainers and fighters did not like the NEW movement but when official bets became legal and honorable then the New Sport took off !! I give England the prideful honor of giving Muay Thai a ring, gloves, protectors, weight categories and the timetables for FIVE rounds (3 minutes) and breaks between (2 minutes).

13- In 1956 first American Movie about Thailand Rama4 “King and I” England. >>> Thailand’s King Mongkut 1860 was Rama 4 and he was connecting with England. He brought to Thailand probably the first English Lady Teacher to educate his children in understanding the western culture. She was learning eastern culture too, she spoke freely to the King and even demanded somethings during a time era when Women do not speak to the King at all. This movie is actually banded in Thailand because it doesn’t show proper culture to the King Rama 4. It is a great movie to watch, you will quickly see how different Thailand Culture is from the Typical Western Culture and most LOVE it but some get so frustrated !! LOL. I ask all my students/instructors to reflect on this because Royal Respect-Honor-Humble- ness which is so needed in today’s culture all over the world. Muay Thai/Boran students during Rama 4 time era would have to show a lot of the Respect towards their Temple-Monk- Teachers or they would get punished and/or kicked out of the Training Muay Thai Family/Team. To ME, what I am trying to say is; many Instructors are begging to get students when at that time Students were begging to get an Instructor. IF anyone knows me for a short time, they will discover that I train some people for FREE, simply because a student has shown Royal-Respect-Honor to Muay Thai … IF I can see they have a pure PASSiON to learn Thailand’s National Sport and then they want to share this Sport … krab !!

14- Thailand focuses on Boy’s to Men = 14 to 18 year old fighters, Fighter of Year >>> Many people are really surprised on how young the true Professional fighters are in Thailand. I have already mentioned that the first main Temple purpose of Muay Thai = MT was to make a Boy into a Man. My wife Zina and I helped, did some training and were professional announcers at the AoNang Krabi Muay Thai Stadium. The first biggest MT Stadium in Bangkok was Raja 1 Stadium opened in 1945, then the second biggest was Lumpinee in 1953 and then ours was the third biggest in AoNang Krabi opened in the Thai New Lucky Year 2000. This Stadium is known as Raja 2, it is the Krabi Provincial and the South Regional Championship Stadium of Thailand. This is amazing to us, especially when IT was the first place I visited in South Thailand and it is located in a very small quiet and humble beach town of less than 20,000 people; most of whom are not from the town but from the Bangkok area to work in Tourism. I have had so many amazing experiences at this Stadium. One was to train with, really get know his village family and to become family with the head trainer at this Stadium = Khru Sallee. He is a local country boy, born and raised right outside in the Stadium area. His first PRO fight was at the age of 4 years old. He became a local Champion, moved to Bangkok and became a Raja 1 Stadium Champ at the age of 14 years old. He then retired at 24 years young.

In Thailand the whole Nation votes on a Fighter of the year and most of the time he is only 18 years old. Khru Sallee moved back home, started to train the fighters at Raja 2 Stadium and he was the official weigh in guy for the fights. You can see a big difference in AGES from East vs. West fighters and that is why many Thai Fighters want to move to the Western Countries because they can continue to fight up to their late 30’s of age !! Please allow me to close with this, another BIG difference from Thailand fighters vs. West fighters is the weight !! Because of Buddhist Fasting disciplines, our Raja 2 Stadium’s favorite Championship weight class is under 50kg = 110lbs … wow … krab !!!! That is another problem with Westerners trying to get a good match in fighting the Real Deal Champs in Thailand. The West focuses on 100kg plus (220lbs.) fighters and to be honest; Thailand does NOT have any !! At our Raja 2 Stadium, our heavy weights are a MAX. 85kg (185lbs.) and you can see that they are FAT in order to be at that weight … krab !! 15- Monks bless the fighters, #1 Monk in Thailand was a former Champ !! >>> I have already shared that Temple Monks are really into Muay Thai because that is the first thing they teach the young boys at the Temple. In Bangkok and other places, Temples still have Muay Thai Training Camps and host Festival fights which to me are better than the Stadium fights. At the big Stadiums the fighters are so conservative, cautious and only show the eye of the tiger style of fighting when they are doing a championship fight. At the Temples, the Country Village events and at our Raja 2 Stadium you see full on and full out crazy fun fights which always end in a KO. I guess I just let you know what style of fighting I like and love to watch. 16- How many provinces= 77, 4 Regions, Raja 1945, Lumpinee 1952, (1) Champ >>> Refer to 14- above = The first biggest MT Stadium in Bangkok was Raja 1 Stadium opened in 1945, then the second biggest was Lumpinee in 1953 and then ours was the third biggest in AoNang Krabi opened in the Thai New Lucky Year 2000. Let me explain this though, the Thailand Sports official plan was to have an Official Provincial Stadium in every main Province in Thailand which are like counties in America; Thailand is actually about the same size as California = “Same Same but Different” !! In Thailand there are now 77 Provinces in Thailand; all with a Provincial Stadium. Each Province was to raise up a Champion, those Champs will fight in FOUR Regions (North-South-Central-East) and then the FOUR Regional Champs would come together in a Tournament fight match which the end result will be a true Thailand National Champ; I do not know when that actually happened last ?? ;-( 17- Provincial Stadiums, Ring Girls, Girl Fighters HAVE yes or no ?? WHY ?? >>> Refer to 16- above = There are 77 Official Provincial Government Muay Thai Stadiums in Thailand that hold the traditions that go all the way back and beyond to Siam in the year 1774. This means ALL the traditions are totally based on Buddhism as the ruling religion to honor. In Buddhism, fasting, pain and bleeding is a big way and part to get pure and en-lightenment. NOT touching or being around or letting women work by you is a BIG part of purification = NO Women allowed !! So that is WHY there are NO Ring Girls, NO Girl Fighters and NO Girls are allowed in the weigh in areas and especially NO Girls should touch the RING itself !!!! >>> Side STORY … I have done many Muay Thai magazine articles and one I did featured my wife Zina doing the “Knives of Muay Thai”. I had the great idea to take pictures in our AoNang Krabi Stadium RING to promote it and to invite people to visit our area town. We were doing great on the pictures, the cleaning worker of the stadium came in and saw us. He started to scream in South Thailand language, I thought there was a snake around (because they are) and then it clicked in my MIND = “Zina is not suppose to be in the RING !!” We quickly jumped out, looked at him, he kind of smiled and then walked away !! LOL.

18- How come Thai Fighters are so small and are truly muscle & bone ?? >>> Refer to 3- above = I will give more info on this. The first discipline in Hindu and Buddhist En-Lightenment is Fasting !! A few amazing Monks have done fasting to the point of death - starvation which is the most painful way to die because your body starts to eat ITSELF !! Fasting is a very painful part and discipline of Muay Thai = MT !! Some MONEY Bets are made just for the weigh ins and the fighter that has lost the most weight WINS !! Some people do not know that a true Buddhists are VEGANS because they try to do NO harm to any living thing; let alone eat a living or dead thing. IF MT is based on Buddha, then that is why the Thai Fighters are ALL Muscle and BONE because they are VEGAN; plus Fasting at the same time !! They are the purest Athletes on the face of the earth which produces the highest level of endurance/strength !! They are so bone-nee that they use their bones to block so when you strike/kick them … IT hurts YOU !! On a Vegan Diet, your bones get harder and harder; some say that is why the Thai fighters have bones of STEEL !! Most do not know that Vegan humans and animals are the endurance/strength Champs of the world. The lbs. per lbs. strongest animal in the world and this animal has the closest DNA to us humans is a Silver Back Gorilla !! He has monster muscles, amazing endurance/strength and guess WHAT ?? He is a VEGAN and mainly eats Green Plants in a juicing form by chewing on them which is how we naturally juice plants. Look at the size of that Gorilla … he is getting plenty of Protein from eating PLANTS wow !! Money making American Merchants have brainwashed the world to believe in and to buy their so called Protein Supplements; and when you talk to almost anyone worldwide about Vegan Endurance Strength they always say, “Where do you get your Protein ??” Vegans and Vegan Animals are the Endurance Champs of the world !! America brain washes people into buying Protein Supplements when the truth is your body makes plenty of protein and makes your bone thick and solid on a good VEGAN diet !! Arnold Schwarzenegger working with made a Movie about how world pro- athletes are finally waking up to the Natural Science of eating VEGAN and how MEAT eaters in their studies show they have lower performance in all Sports and even in SEX !! LOL. The Movie is now FREE on YouTube = https://GameChangersMovie.com/ Thailand Fighters are lb. per lb. the best endurance fighters in the world and they are old school VEGANS. I am not a Vegan and I now called myself a “Nutritarian” … I try to eat pure high performance raw, organic plant food, especially Gorilla Greens to get the best fuel for my body functions. I started in the year 1990 when I was wanting more endurance/strength !! If you want a high performance racing CAR then you need to put high performance FUEL into that CAR. I know I am talking to some people who have already TURN OFF their hearing button because eating is more important to them than health-life-endurance. We reap what we sow, if you do not invest in your Health; very soon you will become Bankrupt !!

19- Most old school fighters do not know their wins or loses … WHY ?? Rambaa >>> You might start to learn my typical answer is Buddha/Buddhist Religion. Old school Thailand cares about the experiences that gives you en-lightenment so what matters is how many you have, not wins or loses, some Thais (I agree with them) say you learn MORE by your loses and a true Champ is one that can lose and then come back and WIN krab !! A famous fighter many were loving to watch was Nok Muay Rambaa Somdet M16 which his record was 50% wins vs. losses. WHY ?? Because “Rambaa” means “Crazy” and when he did a fight someone was going to get KO’d for sure. He was radical, you did not know if he was going to WIN but you knew for sure it was going to be a FIGHT !! He made Champs fight better or they would simply LOSE !! Love this Video of Rambaa M16 = https://youtu.be/hyfS5RRru1o

20- MuayThai Monks Teachers are now in Thai Universities= BA, MA, PHD !! >>> I would say my most amazing Muay Thai experience was going to the Muay Thai College University and we actually helped to teach (3) Muay Thai training camps for foreigners there !!

I am assuming that Muay Thai Monk teachers in Thailand are now Professors in the New Temples that are now called Colleges and Universities … krab !! In the year 2006, there was approved and made (14) New Professors [Only one was a lady that got a Gold Medal in Tae Kwon Do Olympics !!] they were sent out to all parts of Thailand to teach a New and Approved Muay Thai College Curriculum to bring the National Sport of Muay Thai back into the young people of Thailand !! Now the top level College Degrees were a BA – MA – PHD in the Traditional and Sport Muay Thai of Thailand !! I got to meet and train with one a PHD Muay Thai Professor that went to the Krabi Town Province at the Physical Fitness College. In the year 2010, my first Muay Thai teacher Khru VUT got re-connected with his College Professor (Aajaan DEJ) who was inline to be the Head Professor of all Muay Thai College Universities in the years 2014 to 2018 … I think he fully re-tired in 2018 !!

Khru VUT never explained this to his students worldwide and I told him to us foreigners this is a big deal !! Aajaan DEJ was the first Muay Thai Professor to actually write a College written Curriculum for the Nation of Thailand in the 1980’s !! Again, in 2010, we got together some Muay Thai Gym owners/teachers from Canada, USA, Brazil, , South Africa, England and Mexico in order to teach them the Muay Thai College University Curriculum so we could develop a Certification Levels program for Foreigners that actually came from the Government of Thailand; especially the top University Professors of Thailand.

The only other Thai person that I knew trying to do this too was Master Toddy; if you want to know about him and my College University Professors … Private Message me.

We did a week long Camp, we stayed at the College Dorm, went running every morning in the College town and we did workouts in the University Olympic swimming pools !! It was my first time working out on traditional small Thai Bags that were heavy, hard as a rock in the morning, got a little softer in the evening because they were SAND Bags; but again were hard as a rock in the morning !!

On these old school, traditional Thai Bags we really learned what our BONE weapon was and how to really use the BONES, to focus on them and to develop them in KO strikes. The Muay Thai professors did not like pole bags, long bags because they do not swing good and SOFT bags because you can not learn truly what your BONE weapon is or was … ouch krab !! LOL.

I quickly found out that I knew the College Curriculum, Khru VUT said yes you do because it is Aajaan Dej’s Curriculum and the United World Muay Thai Association = U.W.M.T.A.’s Curriculum that we have been teaching in the USA !! Khru VUT and Aajaan DEJ Certified me in the College University Curriculum and told me to practice, share and teach it … krab !! … For more info on this go to = https://MuayThaiDOC.mailchimpsites.com https://muaythaidoc.mailchimpsites.com/certification-curriculum- Certification !!

Please NOTE: Muay Thai FAM if you have Royal Respect and Honor and want to learn this Curriculum so you can share, teach, practice and train people in the MTM Curriculum then please contact me and/or hook up with me (Khru Doc) … MTM Travel Plan - Summer 2021 1-Antioch CA = Antioch California USA Mon to Fri - 7 to 11 June 2021 Sat 12 June 2021 Fresno CA USA 2-Leander TX = Sat to Wed, 19 June to 7 July 2021 3-Gunter TX = Thu to Mon, 8 to 19 July 2021 Tues to Sat, 20 to 24 July 2021 Leander TX USA 4-Texas USA = Sun to Sat, 25 to 31 July 2021 5-Houston TX USA = Sun to Sat, 1 to 7 August 2021 6-Honolulu Hawaii HI USA = Sun to Sun, 8 to 15 August 2021 7-Gemany Germany = Mon to Tues, 16 to 31 August 2021 8-Idaho USA = Wed to Sun, 1 to 12 September 2021 9-Sacramento Nor-CAL = Mon to Mon, 13 to 27 September 2021 Tues to Sat, 28 September to 9 October 2021 Leander TX USA 10-Bartlesville-Tulsa Oklahoma OK = Sun to Sat, 10 to 16 October 2021

21- Muay Thai professors do NOT like MMA, Boxing, etc. … WHY ?? >>> Are you learning my typical answer is Buddha/Buddhist Religion ?? Again, when I asked the college professors if they liked Boxing, MMA, UFC, etc. as other fighting Sports they would say NO … so WHY ?? “They have no purpose, royal honor, respect, meaning and a life goal.” Were some of the answers I was getting through translations. My simple understanding is, unless there is a Spirit-Soul Goal behind the brutal pain discipline then WHY do it ?? Meaningless Meaningless a chasing after the wind … no meaning or purpose unless there is a Divine Discipline behind it. These Thai Professors see fighting with OUT a religious goal is nothing but a meaningless and shameful event … wow … krab !!

22- Martial Arts same in Spirit-Soul-Body but different focus on Masters !! >>> Refer to 4- and 14- above = There are different Cultures all over this world. Some are Black vs. White differences and then most are in the Gray with little differences. Thailand makes a person’s Spirit-Soul-Body amazingly tough and strong through Muay Thai. IF you learn this as a Boy to become a Man then it programs you the rest of your life; Focus is on Fighters !! >>> Side STORY … around the year 2012-2014, I was training regularly at … the AoNang Krabi Stadium and was really learning and connecting with the young fighters there. It amazed me how good and tough 10 to 16 year old Thai fighters were and I was considered an old old man to them. In fact, they wondered why I was training with them; especially if I was not going to fight at the stadium ?? I wanted to fight but the head trainer said I have to fight in Phuket before I fight at the stadium … that’s another “Side Story” krab !! The AoNang Krabi Stadium fighters/trainers wanted to learn more of my style of Boxing hands and they let me teach them. I got connected with a 15 year old who was just about to turn 16 years of age, his hands and body was like mine and I believed it was a Divine Connection. To ME, he is a classic South Thailand fighter, stocky, thicker, dark and tough !! He had good hands so I wanted him to use and develop his hook punches better. He liked my style and he started to do a lot of hook punches in his fights; I was thinking he was now doing them too much !! He won 3 fights in a row so they scheduled a fight for him with a former retired champ.

NOTE, this young fighter is now 16 years old and he is going to fight a former champ that is 26 years old. In his recent fights I have watched him and he has not lost to these younger fighters !! In America, a 16 year old would never fight a 26 year old and I told the head trainer Khru Sallee are you sure about this ?? No worries (Mai Bluuurr krab), this is the Thailand Muay Thai way of training … krab … really … I am not sure about this. At the stadium they were allowing me to stand outside the neutral ring corner to video the fights which is about as close as I could get to the fight.

I started to film this fight, the 16 year old to me got beat up pretty bad in the first 3 round, I stopped filming and went to stand in his corner. I told Khru Sallee I did not like this fight, in America we would have stopped it by now and I feel he is going to get KO’d for sure !! Again, Khru Sallee said, “Watch round 4, he will win it.” What ?? So it was like the 16 year old turned on the endurance energy switch, you can clearly see his skill was not the high level as the 26 year old champ but energy beats skill in Thailand Muay Thai. The stadium was going wild, crazy and it gave the younger fighter more energy … then the Champ went down … the stadium was so loud that it rocked my brain more along with the un-believable KO !! I felt the Champ went down purely because he was tired and overwhelmed by the young fighter. Fifth and Final round, the between break was amazing, the younger fighter had renewed energy and I felt like the Champ did not want to go back into the Ring with this Energizer Bunny Fighter !! Let me end this; the younger fighter WON by KO !! This American just learned how amazing Thailand is in training Boys into Men … yes this is as extreme as it gets but Thailand has the toughest Boys to Men on the face of this planet !!

23- Provincial Stadium AoNang Krabi 2000 … mouth PC – Pride not humble !! >>> There are different Cultures all over this world. Some are Black vs. White differences and then most are in the Gray with little differences; this is another BIG difference … krab !! Today, things are changing in Thailand a little more like the west, but when I started to watch a lot of Muay Thai fights in Thailand live; I would always see the young winners struggling with humble-ness after their big WINS !! The old school moral in Muay Thai Fighting (Buddha morals) was to have Royal Respect (like the King), full honor and humble-ness towards your opponent because he has agreed to be apart of the Ring Religion to make YOU into a better person = Spirit-Soul-Body. This is NOT American, we get into each other’s face and tell our opponents we are going to CRUSH them; that would never happen in Thailand !! In fact, if a Thai fighter does this, or he is really brutal which you can clearly see he is trying to really hurt his opponent for life; then the owners of the Stadium will not let him fight again. Another interesting judgment towards Thai fighters at our Stadium is … if a fighter’s mouth piece/guard falls out that is a big point against him. The judges say, he is not in shape enough to bite down on his mouth guard and only breathe in and out of his nose. Also, if a fighter wins by points but he is and looking really tired they might not give him the WIN !! Again, Muay Thai is a Religious experience and what matters is the morals of the fight !! In America, there are NO morals in fighting; only rules that protect you from great damage and harm.

24- Hard Bones of Muay Thai … HOW ???? Kick Banana Trees/Plants ??!! >>> In the year 1997, was my first big Article on Muay Thai, I wrote on the very popular subject of “The HARD BONES of Muay Thai” The American magazine INSIDE KUNG-FU was one of my favorites because I am an old fan of !! I was a kickboxer, to ME, the Japanese made up the Sport of Kickboxing because they could not beat the Thai Fighters in Muay Thai. They are way too soft and sneaky with their ELBOWS and the Japanese would not take the time and/or humble themselves to really learn how to do the elbows; let alone how to not get hit by them. If you know the Thai Fighters basic ELBOW plan then you have a chance !!

The Elbows in Muay Thai by the Thai Fighters are the game changer for sure in the Combat RING. The Elbow is the second hardest bone weapon on the body; the first hardest bone is the head (like a bowling ball) but it can only be used as a blocking bone in Muay Thai. Let me get to the point, many think the Thai fighters kick banana trees; note they are not trees but actually a plant so the are a little softer; basic training Thai fighters do NOT kick banana trees !! >>> Refer to 19- above = Where I talked about body FUEL that makes endurance muscles and hard steel bones. In reflection to that, I just watched another MMA fighter SNAP his shin bone by kicking the Triangle blocking bone !! Clean snap and I think fighters today have no clue on the proper FUEL food to give their body materials to make the bones as hard as possible. Some take the medical steroids and other drugs which actually SUCK the minerals out of the bones making them weak and open to SNAPS … ouch mak krab !!

>>> Here is the formula for the Hardest Thailand Muay Thai Steel BONES !! = 1- Be born with them; you are a 2nd , 3rd, 4th generation Muay Thai (Thailand) family fighter. 2- Start training/fighting in Muay Thai as a child = 2 to 4 to 6 to 8 years of age !! 3- You do old school training where you do Bone on Bone fun sparring with your team mates on a daily basis. Then as a kid fighter, you fight every week and then take a break when injured. 4- Make it a Muay Thai goal to do over 100 full on bone fights after that you are Muay Thai !! 5- Do not take American supplements, kick banana trees or steel poles and/or bang your shins !! NOTE: Always use Muay Thai Boxing Oil before every workout and fight; not after !! Consistency is the KEY, slow but daily training in using your bones as blocking shields and KO weapons against a partner’s bones and your bones will get hard as steel … krab !!

25- Most Muay Thai fighters are Soft-Thai-Silk, Tai-Chi absorb-relax to HARD !! >>> This is a subject that very few know, think about and/or try in Muay Thai. I am familiar with it because I practice and teach Tai-Chi. Here is the issue, when someone strikes you, is it better to tense and to be strong/hard or to totally relax and to try to absorb the strike ?? For the most part, Thai fighters are Soft-Thai-Silk, they absorb and then counter with a hard as a diamond bone strike. We do some fun punching drills with gloves to the stomach. Try this with a partner, I can usually take a punch to the stomach from a person my size; and I do that by relaxing and trying to absorb the strike. I learned to do this with getting hit by Muay Thai Knee strikes, if you relax and move away with the strike it will not KO you. But you have to practice it and work with a partner that will be controlled with you so you can take a harder and harder strike. You will definitely see Thai fighters doing this when they are clinch and knee sparring workout to make themselves conditioned to take a knee strike. Here is a funny Video I found which my Tai-Chi Master told me was a goal in his Tai-Chi art … no I never tried it !! Iron Crotch: Chinese Kung Fu master demonstrates 'ball-breaking stamina'… Video Link = https://youtu.be/NWsgBqNuVEk

26- What is the main style of Muay Thai Fighting = Counter Fighters !! >>> Fairtex Muay Thai trainers told their fighters … “Nothings FREE !!” That meant if someone gave you a strike … then give IT right back !! That was the biggest thing I discovered when I started to fight and train in Muay Thai. If someone hits you, block and hit right back. If you hit a Muay Thai fighter then KNOW you are going to get hit right back !! Watching the Real Deal fights at our stadium, you will see the fighters sit and wait for their opponent to strike them. Sometimes the referee will have to step in and tell them someone has to go first so FIGHT !! To ME, this is a fun way to fight, especially against a Western style fight that is tough like a tank and just keeps going first and forward. Most of the greatest KO’s in Muay Thai are the ones where the attacking fighter is growing in confidence and then they do not realize how open they are and then they get KO’d; I personally know this by ring experience. I a big fight for me in Phuket, was feeling stronger than my opponent, I said to myself, let’s just KO this guy and go home; then all of a sudden I was on the ground. “What happened ??” is what I said to Khru Sallee and he said, “You got KO’d, why didn’t you Sabai Sabai krab ??” Translation, “Why didn’t you keep humble, relax-relax and let the KO happen naturally ??” At that moment I finally understand a Brue Lee quote, “I am in the Art of Fighting without Fighting.” You train and discipline yourself in fighting to a point that you do not have to fight because your Spirit-Soul-Body just does what it needs to because you have trained it right !!!! Ahhh … I felt my American MachoMAN took over and I lost that fight because I did NOT fight like a Thailand fighter; but for sure that loss=KO taught this boy how to be a man in Thailand !!

Many of my Thailand Muay Thai friends love it when a soft lady boy Thailand fighter fights a tough Farang fighter with a 12 pack and impressive muscles all over. One of those fights happened at our Stadium, my American programming got the best of me AGAIN and I said yes to a 1,000 baht bet between a tough Thai fighter that I personally know and a lady boy fighter that I do not know. Looking at them, for sure most of us would BET against the lady boy ??!!??!! The fight went to the FOURTH round, again, the 4th round is the winning round and it is the most intensive betting round. I was in because the lady boy was getting beat UP … krab !!!! Then his opponent was getting more aggressive in this round, going for a KO for sure and then we discovered how flexible his legs were !! The lady boy faded back as he was getting attacked and then NECK kicked my fighter and he was OUT=KO !! No one wakes up from a good Thailand Muay Thai NECK kick especially when the Skin BONE hits the Karate’ Chop spot of the NECK … good night sweet prince and good bye my 1,000 baht … krab !!!! LOL.

27- What is a MuayThai workout ?? How can Foreigners/Farangs do it ?? >>> Old School Muay Thai workouts: again they started with the Temples, religion and prayer. I did a Video of this in my town AoNang Krabi because some locals built a Temple here. Check it out and let me know what your think ?? = Link = https://youtu.be/W7OVNL7hod0 Thailand basic traditional daily workout: 3-4-5am go up the Temple and pray … great Ring Cardio going up a Real Stair Master !! If you do not do Temple Stairs then most start with a 5k or a 10k run. 6am full body fitness, jumping rope, rope climbing, pull-ups, push-ups, jump-ups & sit-ups. 7am shadow sparring against the air, light sparring and clinching work. 8am one on one training with personal trainer, Thai-Pads and Thai-Bag work. 9am eat a Thai breakfast, a lot of fruit and bananas … relax and clean the gym. 12pm eat a Thai lunch, a lot of fruit and bananas … take a NAP = Sleep. 3-4-5pm if trying to loose weight then do another run … 5k ???? Jumping rope, shadow sparring, Thai-Bag work, Clinching/Knees, Thai-Pads and Sparring. 7-8pm eat a light dinner, some more bananas and relax and clean the gym. 9pm drop dead and go to bed … krab !!!! This is done SIX days a week, take one day off (usually Sunday) and a standard monthly schedule is to do this for (3) weeks, do a fight and then take a week off. Note, kid fighters for say the age of 2 to 12 years old can fight every week as apart of their training. In my stadium area, most of our 10 year old fighters already have over 100 fights !! In Muay Thai you train to fight … krab !!

28- Thai PADS were created and mastered by Thailand !! >>> Bruce Lee said it was cool that Martial Arts people can break bricks BUT bricks do not hit back and/or move !! That is why Martial Arts people are not good fighters if they only focus on doing STRIKES !! They can even loose to a street thug who has learned distance, timing, how it feels to get hit and hope-fully how NOT to get hit because of their street fighting experience !! Thailand’s Thai PAD training for fighting is the bricks moving and now hitting back !! To ME, Thai PADS are the greatest Tools to teach and to train someone how to fight IN or OUT of the ring. Then, when you add the amazing weapons of Muay Thai the Combo of the stand up fight game becomes unstoppable !! Now, every Martial Arts fighters that want to have a chance to compete against Muay Thai fighters in the RING; they MUST learn and to use Thai PADS !! The last thing I will say on this is, people just can not walk up and take some Thai PADS and just use them right away. In is a Relationship ART, it takes time, it takes understanding, it takes techniques in order to train someone to Block and then immediately strike back; then to strike, then Block and then again to immediately strike again. This is my personal focus as of today.

29- The ultimate Goal of Muay Thai is to get into the RING !! >>> That sounds like a simple statement but to the FEW that do it … wow … amazing !!!! Some say I am kind of crazy, because I love getting into the RING and to be honest; I am sad that I was not able to start as a KID. In the year 1993, I was 30 years young, I just won a simple California Kickboxing Championship which was one of the highlights of my life. I really did not understand Thailand let alone Muay Thai and to be honest; I needed to learn how to kick harder and my teacher (Khru VUT) is smaller than my wife, YET, he could kick me in half !! LOL. Oh let me throw this in there too, some kickboxers like me were wearing Muay Thai shorts, I did not know what they said and then Khru VUT told us is says, “Want to be Kickboxer … krab !!” Then I learned the Religion and purpose behind Muay Thai which wakes up your Spirit-SOUL to support your BODY to be a Champion in the RING and in life !! Now, I am almost 60 years young, I get excited when I see young people wanting to really learn Muay Thai and then they are open to getting into the RING !! At our CKC Gym in Concord CA USA, I always started to tell everyone that sooner or later you will have to get into the RING with me. Most people would freak out, do not hurt me, don’t mark my good looking face and I have to work so do not injure me. Some, especially the ladies, would tell me that they would never get into the RING with me. But the day always came, people would have to get into the RING with me and then I could not get them OUT of the RING; they LOVED it !! I would always work with them at their level of fighting. I would keep them honest about blocking and moving. I would tell them NOT to hold back on me and to give me 110% which showed them fighting in the RING is the greatest workout for the Spirit-Soul-Body; with the big bonus of losing weight and burning calories !!

30- Do NOT Say SORRY !! >>> Refer to 29- above = When training and/or fighting in the RING do NOT Say SORRY !! I am known for a quote in the Muay Thai Book and some articles for saying, “You have learned the highest level of Muay Thai when you can get into the RING with you Best Friend and have fun trying to KO them !!” Kao JAI mai krab … do you understand that statement ?? IF you do not, then during some training sessions or sparring in the RING you will probably say SORRY !! WHY say SORRY if you are doing good techniques against your Best Friend to make them a better Fighter in the RING and in life ?? Now if you do a bad technique like strike them in the Groin … then YES say SORRY !! In Muay Thai, you are family that makes each other the BEST they can BE; so again never say SORRY for that !! A famous fighter’s Bible verse is “Iron sharpens Iron” But I like this New PASSiON Translation of Proverbs 27:17 = “It takes a grinding wheel to sharpen a blade, and so One Person sharpens the Character of another.” Khru VUT always says, MTM Instructors are taught to say, we are Muay Thai FAMILY that knows if we train positive and HARD with each other then we can face any opponent in LIFE !! Phar JAO uay phra pon MAK krab … big blessings from Thailand, Khru Doc
