The Scholarship Program provides tuition assistance for students of all ages to help them achieve their musical dreams and reach their full potential regardless of financial circumstances. Founded in 1929, our community music school empowers students with the tools to develop their creative potential, strengthen academic performance, and provide inspiration to pursue higher education opportunities.

The Music Therapy Program changes the lives of over 2,000 children and adults with disabilities each year. The Conservatory’s board-certified music therapists provide individual and group music therapy at the Conservatory and on an outreach basis in partnership with 31 organizations throughout the Westchester region. Music therapy can make a profound impact, promote healing, and support physical, emotional, social, and cognitive well-being for a brighter future.

The Healing Our Heroes Program serves military veterans who have bravely protected us both domestically and overseas; they are our neighbors, our friends, and our family. Our program provides the therapeutic benefits of music to veterans with combat-related injuries in individual and group sessions at no cost to them.

Keep the Music Playing

When the COVID-19 pandemic pressed pause on the world, the Music Conservatory of Westchester kept the music playing. Founded in 1929, the community music school, grounded in tra- ditional music education while looking toward the future, quickly adapted to teaching online lessons for the more than 3,000 stu- dents it serves throughout the greater Westchester region. Today, the Conservatory continues its mission of providing the extraor- dinary benefits of music to all through quality music training for students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

As a not-for-profit organization, the Conservatory reaches out to those who would not otherwise have access to quality music education. Our Scholarship Program ensures that financially deserving students can achieve their musical dreams. Our Music Therapy Institute changes the lives of over 2,000 children and adults with disabilities each year. Established in 2013, Healing Our Heroes provides the therapeutic benefits of music to military veterans in our community.

Known for broad diversity in its community of students, faculty, and staff, the Conservatory now aims to make change by present- ing introductions to music that reflects the various cultures mak- ing up the school’s population. The Conservatory’s Composers of Color Project will expand our teaching repertoire, progressing toward the future.

22 Our upcoming transformative Legacy Project will bridge tradi- tional music education with 21st century innovation. Partially supported by a $500,000 Regional Economic Development chal- lenge grant from New York State, this project will create a pro- fessional Recording Studio and Digital Piano Lab on the lower level of our building, as well as an expanded Percussion Studio, multi-purpose Rehearsal Studio, and additional Music Therapy Studio.

Whether online or in-person, we will continue to inspire future generations of students, and help shape the musical life of the county, the region, and beyond.
