TOUCHMARK AT WEDGEWOOD Get the “dirt” on gardening!

Spring is in the air, and popular horticulturist Jim Hole will be coming to Touchmark Wednesday, April 19 at 2 pm to inspire, educate, and talk about gardening! Titled Cool Green Living, Jim’s presentation will include stories of how his parents built their successful business and how local gardeners can extend the gardening season with microgreens. Seating is limited. Call Annette at 780-577-5021 by April 17 to RSVP. Jim grew up in the renowned gardening family that created Hole’s Greenhouse and Garden Centre. Started by his hardworking parents Ted and Lois on their family farm, the family business quickly evolved to become one of Western Canada’s largest retail greenhouse stores. Lois, a well-loved gardener, business woman, author, and politician, became the 15th lieutenant governor of in 2000, serving until her death in 2005. In 2011, the Hole family moved their operation to its new site on the edge of Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park. It’s now called The Enjoy Centre. Jim manages the 242,000-square-foot facility that includes a greenhouse, food retail, wellness spa, and convention space. Jim is a certified arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture and a professional speaker and columnist on CBC radio. He also writes a weekly gardening column for the Journal and has coauthored six best-selling gardening books with his mother. “We have an active Garden Club here, and residents are excited to hear Jim share the tips and tricks he’s learned over the years,” says Life Enrichment/Wellness Director Joan Drake. “Gardening is such an enjoyable and easy hobby. And it can be delicious!
