One of the most exciting accomplishments for 2012 was the addition of two new satellites to our growing fleet through the successful launches of EchoStar XVI and EchoStar XVII, bringing our total number of owned, leased and managed spacecraft to twenty-two. EchoStar operates the world’s fourth largest commercial geostationary satellite fleet and we continue to solidify our position as a premier global leader in satellite communications and operations. EchoStar ended 2012 with revenue of $3.1 billion, a growth of 13% over 2011. EBITDA in 2012 was $794 million, a growth of 64% over 2011. We generated a healthy $508 million of cash from operating activities in 2012 as a result primarily of the strong net income in 2012 and ended the year with a strong balance sheet with $1.5 billion of cash and marketable securities. EchoStar reached two very important long-term North America goals in 2012 with the market implementation of the HughesNet Gen4 service and the roll-out of the Hopper Whole Home DVR solution for DISH. Both solutions are garnering high praise and rapid adoption by consumers, a glowing testament to the capabilities and ingenuity of the EchoStar team. Additional notable accomplishments for 2012 include the very successful introduction of two new Slingbox retail products, several large enterprise contract renewals and new customers for Hughes data network services around the globe, and above-forecast sales of set-top-box products and video services to our established operator customers. -

Press Release Astellas Partners with Discovery Communications for its Global Branding Campaign Tokyo, February 14, 2018 - Astellas Pharma Inc. (President and CEO: Yoshihiko Hatanaka, “Astellas”) today announced the launch of a new global branding campaign centred on the company’s commitment to corporate social responsbility and to the transplant community. The program features its involvement in the World Transplant Games 2017 which were held in Malaga, Spain. In collaboration with Discovery Communications, the integrated campaign will run on Eurosport’s and Discovery’s platforms across Europe, Asia including Japan, and the United States. A five-minute program – Director’s Box – will be televised on Eurosport, featuring interviews with athletes, officials from the World Transplant Games Federation and Astellas’ president and CEO, Yoshihiko Hatanaka, who said “Astellas expanded its collaboration with the World Transplant Games Federation through this programme to help people in its physical activity-focused programming to include providing transplant and organ donation communities with resources, research and advice regarding nutrition and physical activity post-transplant”. The program will highlight Astellas’ collaboration with the World Transplant Games Federation and the Fit for Life! program, and how this initiative positively impacts the lives of transplant recipients. Launched last year, the Fit for Life! is a global program to help transplant recipients live full and active lives through ongoing physical activity and participation in organized sports. The campaign will also enable Astellas to share its vision of turning innovative science into value for patients.on Eurosport and Discovery Channels globally in a one-minute television advertisement. December 13, 2012 TF1 & Discovery Communications Continue Exclusive Negotiations The TF1 Board of Directors, meeting on December 12, 20012, gave Nonce Paolini authority to conntinue and finalise the exclusive negotiations with Discovery Communications, the world’s #1 non-fiction media company, as announced on November 13, 2012. These negotiations are aimed at forging a strategic alliance to create value in the numerous complementary activities of the two media companies, in three key areas: Develop the futture activities of Eurosport A relationship between Eurosport (the only pan-European sport channel) and Discovery Communications (whose channels are available to 1.8 billion subscribers in 217 countries), would unlock synergies and complementary capabilities, particularly at the European level, in content (sports programming, entertainment, documentaries, etc) and in development opportunities (geographical expansion, new product launches, digital rollout, etc). To this end, Discovery would take a 20% minority interest in the Eurosport group (Eurosport International and Eurosport France). The acquisition of the 20% interest would involve cash consideration of approximately €170 million ($221.6 million). Discovery also would have the possibility (via an option granted by TF1) of raising its interestt to 51% in two years’ time. If Discovery exercised its option, TF1 would have the abillity to exercise a put option over the remaining 49%, which potentially would increase Discovery’s ownership to 100%. Develop pay TV content in France The alliance also would aim to enhance the output of documentary, magazine and current afffaairs channels in order to offer French distributors a flagship range of theme channels built around the content and brand portfolios of the two groups. -

AT&T Renews Long-Term Distribution Agreement with Discovery Communications September 8, 2016 -- Carriage Agreement Covers the Portfolio of Discovery Networks across All AT&T Distribution Platforms Including AT&T's Upcoming Streaming Service DIRECTV Now -- (Silver Spring, MD) – Discovery Communications today announced it has reached a long-term agreement with AT&T* that will expand their relationship, bringing Discovery's portfolio of U.S. networks to AT&T DIRECTV and U-verse customers on more platforms than ever before. The comprehensive renewal covers Discovery's linear networks, a robust on-demand offering and TV Everywhere distribution. Discovery's content will be available to AT&T DIRECTV U-Verse customers via their set top boxes, streaming and temporary download on DIRECTV's and U-Verses's TV Everywhere platforms, as well as through Discovery's family of websites and applications.
