! All Green Grid – London’s Green Infrastructure Strategy

! £2m funding pot, with grants of up to £500,000, and 1:1 match funding

! Delivering priorities within the Area Frameworks (Area 8 covers the Wandle Valley)

! Six successful projects - £390,000 awarded for the Wandle Valley in June 2013

! Work to be delivered by end March 2015 (ish….) + Project area

! On the border of and Sutton

! Stretches from Road to Spencer Road Wetlands, with focus on Poulter Park (LB Sutton) and Watermeads (National Trust)

! Includes private land at The Hub (Tooting and United FC) and beside the (John S Deeds) + Project objectives

! Biodiversity: expand and diversify wetland habitats within the project area to support the reintroduction of water voles and generally make the green infrastructure richer for wildlife.

! River: improve the ecological health of the River Wandle, in line with the aims and objectives of the Catchment Plan.

! Quality: improve the overall quality of the green infrastructure within the project area to make the spaces more accessible, welcoming and feel safer. + Project objectives….cont

! Access: improve access to the project area for visitors on foot, cycle and for disabled people.

! Skills: include the project within the wider programme for the Wandle Green Team so that trainees can grow their skills through delivering capital works and ongoing maintenance works.

! Watermeads: public access for the first time since the National Trust acquired the land in 1913

! Poulter Park: new paths and entrances, including riverside Wandle Trail, plus meadows and planting

! Poulter Park: new backwater wetland to create ‘water vole ready’ habitat

! Watermeads, Spencer Road and Bennett’s Hole: more welcoming nature reserves with improved entrances, paths and vegetation management - including replacement boardwalk at Spencer Road

! River Wandle and TMU Hub boundaries: general environmental improvements and landscaping + Project partners
