A native of Harrisonburg, Va., Jim McAleavey - a four-year letterwinner at attack - currently ranks second all-time at the University of he compiled a 300-142-3 overall record in 36 seasons at UMass and is the winningest coach in college lacrosse Massachusetts for points scored on the strength of 95 goals and a program-record 171 assists. Mark Millon ‘94 Attack Mark Millon, considered one of the greatest players in the history of lacrosse, was a four-year letterwinner for Scott Hiller ‘90 Attack the Minutemen from 1990-1993. He earned first team all-America honors in 1992 and 1993, becoming the first One of only three UMass athletes to be named a four-time all-American, Scott Hiller starred on the lacrosse field UMass player to be selected to the top team twice. He was also an honorable mention all-America selection in for the Minutemen from 1987-90. He was a four-time NEILA All-New England selection and he is third all-time 1991, while earning all-New England honors three times. During his four-year career, Millon totaled 213 points in career goals scored (135) and seventh in scoring (190). Hiller is one of only three players in UMass history to on 155 goals and 58 assists, making him the fourth-leading scorer in UMass history. Dick Hoss ’62 Football, Lacrosse (Midfield) After he graduated from UMass, Millon went on to be named the MVP of the 1994 World Games, and was the A three-year letterwinner in football and lacrosse at UMass, Hoss shined under legendary lacrosse mentor United States’ leading scorer in the 1998 World Games with 20 goals. He also excelled at defense and was the team’s placekicker during his senior year. He was part of Russell “Cap” Kidd earned six letters during his career as a UMass student-athlete from 1954-56. Kidd earned two Yankee Conference championship teams under Vic Fusia, helping UMass compile and impressive 23-4-1 three letters in hockey (1954-56), two in football (1954-55) and one in lacrosse (1956). He was presented record during his three years, including a 14-1 YanCon mark, and a trip to the Tangerine Bowl. Morin was also with the Samuel S. Grossman Trophy (Outstanding Two Sport Athlete) and the Joseph Lojko Memorial Award the New England heavyweight wrestling champion in 1965, and played lacrosse for Dick Garber’s stickmen. He was also an A first-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 1966 NFL Draft, he went on to play ten seasons for the All-Yankee conference selection in football in 1955. Kidd served as head men’s soccer coach at UMass from Browns. He played in three Pro-Bowls (1966, 1968, 1969) and ranks eighth on Cleveland’s all-time receiving 1975-81, compiling a 44-44-4 record. From 1981-85 he was the Assistant to the Director of the General Physical yardage list with 4,208 career yards. He is also tied for eighth on the Brown’s career receptions list with 271. Education Program and from 1985-96 was the Director of the General Physical Education Program. In 1992 Morin was inducted into the UMass Athletic Hall of Fame in 1970. he was given the UMass Chancellor’s Citation for outstanding service to the University. A native of Melrose, Mass., Kidd retired from the University in 1996. He was inducted into the UMass Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.

Sal LoCascio ‘89 Goalie A four-year letterwinner on the UMass lacrosse team from 1986-89, Sal LoCascio earned USILA All-America honors at goalie in each of his four seasons. A three-time New England Player of the Year selection and four- time All-New England honoree, LoCascio holds the all-time NCAA record for career saves with 931. He was the starting goalie on four consecutive NCAA tournament and New England Championship teams from 1986-89, including the 1989 team that was the first UMass squad to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. LoCascio led the team in saves all four seasons, and each of his individual single-season save totals rank among the top six in UMass history, including a record 271 in 1987. He served as team co-captain as a senior and set an NCAA record with 29 saves in an 1986 NCAA Tournament First Round against Johns Hopkins. LoCascio started all 54 games he played in his four-year career and participated in the USILA North South All-Star Game after his senior season. Following the completion of his UMass career, LoCascio has been a three-time member of Team USA, winning three world championships (1990, 94, 98). He was named MVP of the World Games in 1990 and chosen to the 1994 All-World Team. He never lost a game in international competition. LoCascio also played in the Major Indoor and National Lacrosse leagues as well as in the club lacrosse league since finishing his collegiate career. A native of Islip, N.Y., LoCascio earned his degree in economics in 1989. He was inducted into the UMass Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.

20 • Last Updated: July 5, 2017 Tim Soudan ‘91 Midfield A two-time second-team all-America and all-New England selection, Tim Soudan was an integral part of the UMass men’s lacrosse team from 1987-90, helping the Minutemen to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances and as many New England titles. Soudan finished his career with 114 total points and 84 tallies. His goals total still rank as the best-ever by a midfielder. All told, he helped guide UMass through one of its best four-year periods as the Minutemen recorded a 41-14 record during his career. The Fairport, N.Y., native produced his best seasons as a junior in 1989 and as a senior in 1990. During the 1989 campaign, he scored 31 goals and added seven assists, while in 1990 he notched 32 goals and helped out on 18 more. Soudan earned all-America and all-New England honors in each of those campaigns. Additionally as a senior, he was selected as a tri-captain for legendary head coach Dick Garber’s final season. At the conclusion of his senior year, he was selected to play in the annual USILA North/South All-Star Game. Following his collegiate career, Soudan was selected to the U.S. National Team in the 1994 and 1998 World Championships, winning gold both times. In 2002, he once again played for Team USA in the Heritage Cup against Team Canada. He enjoyed a successful career in professional lacrosse as well. From 1991 through 2005, Soudan played indoor and outdoor lacrosse. From 1991-94, he comepted for the Boston Blazers before moving on to the Rochester Knighthawks, where he suited up until 2005. He also played for the Rochester Rattlers from 2001-03 in Major League Lacrosse. All told, Soudan totaled 173 games over his 15 seasons of indoor lacrosse with 198 goals and 203 assists. To date, he still ranks among the top-10 of every major offensive category in Knighthawks history and is a member of the NLL franchise’s Hall of Fame. In 2001, he was also inducted into the U.S. Lacrosse Greater Rochester Chapter Hall of Fame. After finishing as a player, Soudan eventually became the assistant general manager for the Knighthawks in 2008. In 2011, the Rochester Rattlers named him the franchise’s head coach and in September 2012, Soudan was named the leader for the U.S. Indoor National Team for the Bowhunter Cup.

Jeff Spooner ‘77 Attack Jeff Spooner earned four letters in lacrosse from 1974-77 under Hall of Fame head coach Richard F. Garber. He still ranks as the all-time leading scorer in UMass history with 275 points. Spooner finished his career with then-career records of 134 goals and 141 assists, marks which rank fourth and second, respectively today. A four-time all-region selection, Spooner played on three New England championship teams (1974, 1976-77) and captained UMass’ first pair of NCAA Tournament teams in 1976 and 1977. The Minutemen posted a 41- 12 mark in his four seasons on the varsity side. An honorable-mention all-America pick in 1975 and 1976, Spooner was a third-team all-American as a senior in 1977. He was also chosen to participate in the USILA North-South All-Star Game following his final season in a Maroon and White uniform. A member of the New York/Metropolitan Lacrosse Hall of Fame and the New England Hall of Fame, Spooner was inducted into the UMAss Hall of Fame in 2001.

Brooks Sweet ‘80 Attack Sweet was a lacrosse student-athlete from 1978-79, who earned all-America honors both seasons he played at UMass. He was a first teamer in 1979 and was honorable mention in 1978. In each season, Sweet was named all-region as he led the Minutemen to the New England title. Sweet was the team’s top scorer both seasons as he became the only player in UMass history to score more than 80 points during two individual campaigns. In 1979, the Minutemen made the NCAA Tournament and he scored a then-school record 61 goals, which is now second all-time. Despite only playing two years, Sweet ranks eighth in goals (106), tied for 14th in assists (66) and 10th in points (172). As a senior, he was a team captain and represented UMass in the USILA North-South All-Star Game. After UMass, Sweet went on to play for Team USA and was selected the MVP of the 1982 World Games, in which the U.S. took gold. He was inducted in to the New England Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1996. Sweet graduated in 1980 with a degree in leisure studies.

Jim Weller ‘82 Attack One of the top offensive players in the history of UMass lacrosse, Jim Weller continues to hold marks untouched by some of the greatest players the program has witnessed. Weller’s 162 career goals still ranks No. 1 all-time for the Minutemen - a mark that was not reached by the great names such as Mark Millon, Scott Hiller, Kevin Leveille or Jeff Zywicki. His 62 goals scored in 1981 along with his 98 points that year remain single-season records. Additionally, his 94 career assists ranks tied with Will Manny ‘13 for sixth all-time. He finished his career with 256 career points, which remains the third-highest total in program history. Among the NCAA rankings, Weller’s offensive performance ranks in the top-15 all-time in goals, goals per game and points for a single-season, while he is among the top-25 players in each of those career categories as well. Weller also played for the Canadian National Field Lacrosse Team in 1982, 1984, 1986 and 1990. He led the Canadian Team in goals and points at the World Championships in 1982, 1984 and 1986. In 1984 and 1986, he was selected to the All-World Team.
