HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION The Old Rectory The Old Rectory is a handsome Grade II listed early Victorian house, believed to date from before 1840 and probably built for the Rev. Charles Maxwell. The east wing was added in the late 19th Century and a further small extension in the mid 20th Century. The house is built of mellow brick under a pitched red tile roof, banded with scalloped tiles and topped by tall, octagonal chimneys. The front has delightful twin gables with frilled bargeboards and a further matching gable to the south. Internally The Old Rectory retains many lovely period features including solid wood floors, period fireplaces and ceiling cornicing. The front door opens from a deep gable porch into a traditional reception hall which has a polished parquet floor and leads through to an inner hall with access to all the principal reception rooms. Of particular note is the magnificent double drawing room which has southerly views over the gardens, French doors and a marble fireplace. The dining room is equally well proportioned, with a south facing deep bay window, polished oak floor and an open fireplace. The reception rooms are completed by a comfortable sitting room with a fireplace and a study. There is a downstairs cloakroom and a wine store. The kitchen has a superb range of bespoke fitted cabinets by Plain English with a range of integrated Miele appliances including an oven/microwave, ceramic hob and dishwasher. There is a 4-oven oil-fired Aga and the kitchen is adjoined by a large traditional larder and a utility room with a door to the side porch. The first floor landing is accessed via an attractive period staircase and is lit by a glazed roof lantern. Further stairs lead up to reach the master bedroom which has been beautifully designed with a large bay window with a window seat, stripped oak floorboards and high ceilings. The adjoining dressing room has cabinets fitted by Plain English and leads through to an en suite bathroom. The main landing gives access to the five further beautifully proportioned bedrooms, two with en suite shower rooms and a family bathroom.

The Coach House The Coach House has been converted to provide excellent secondary accommodation which includes a living room with a Clearview logburner, kitchen, cloakroom, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
