TUN DR MAHATHIR IMPRESSED WITH BATTERSEA PROJECT HIS FIRST VISIT TO THE ICONIC SITE SINCE BECOMING PRIME MINISTER

Prime Minister Tun Dr. can’t resist a selfie in front of the iconic four chimneys of the Battersea Power Station in London — WISMA PUTRA LONDON, SEP 29: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has expressed delight with the development of the Battersea Power Station project after he was taken on a tour of the iconic site — the largest Malaysian investment in the United Kingdom. Tun Dr. Mahathir was taken to the Scott Penthouse for a breathtaking view of the project and riverside. It was his first visit to the site of the development by a Malaysian consortium since becoming prime minister in May last year. Dr Mahathir signed a plaque to commemorate his visit to the Battersea Power Station project site. He made the one-and-a-half hour visit during his two-day working trip here after attending the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the United States. Earlier, the Prime Minister was taken on a private tour of the exhibition, “Inspired by the East: How the Islamic World Influenced Western Art”, at the British Museum accompanied by Foreign Minister, The Hon. Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and Malaysian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom H.E. Datuk Mohamad Sadik Kethergany. They were briefed by writer and curator Lucien de Guise, as well as Julia Tugwell, the British Museum’s project curator. Tun Dr Mahathir wrapped up his working visit by speaking to more than 100 Malaysian students at a luncheon and networking session hosted by the Malaysian High Commissioner at the High Commission in Belgrave Square. BRITISH GURKHA VETERANS HONOURED WAR VETERANS AND WIDOWS AWARDED WITH PINGAT JASA LONDON, AUG 08: The High Commission of Malaysia, London hosted the conferment of the Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) medals to the British Gurkha Veterans. The ceremony honoured 48 British Gurkha veterans and 25 widows with the PJM medals. The PJM medal is awarded to peacekeeping groups amongst the communion countries for distinguished chivalry, gallantry, sacrifice and loyalty in upholding Malaysia's sovereignty during the period of emergency and confrontation. H.E. Datuk Mohamad Sadik Kethergany had the honour of presenting the medals to all recipients including 14 who were absent. Also graced the ceremony were Mr. Richard Kornicki, Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Ealing, Mrs. Suzanne Marklew, Defence Engagement Strategy, Ministry of Defence and Major (Retired) Chandru Rai, Chairman of Ex British Gurkha Association, Ealing.

Datuk Mohamad Sadik Kethergany visited the headquarters of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) to present his credentials as Malaysia's Permanent Representative to the IMO to Secretary General Kitack Lim.
