Just when you thought Gospel Music had reached its peak in the U.S. And other parts of the world. For the first time in the history of Japan or Asia, this team has managed to record and produce their thousand-voice choir and releases their debut CD worldwide this summer 2015. The producer of this project, Jett Edwards, is a Tokyo-based producer and Gospel artist who once worked for The Jackson's family label (Jackson Records as A & R Director). Edwards is also a Company CEO, bassist, songwriter and Artist Manager, working with artist and companies such as Five Blind Boys of Mississippi and Alabama, Swan Silvertones, Soul Stirrers, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, The Crusaders, James Brown, Dionne Warwick, Leon Ware, The Temptations, George Benson and Motown Records. He recently partnered with a Japanese Gospel entrepreneur, Jenna, and established a new record label called Lifeline Records. Jenna runs the largest Gospel music school franchise in Japan with approximately 2000 members nationwide. Their goal is to teach “True and Traditional” Gospel to Japanese people, as well as to introduce The Japanese Gospel and Inspirational music scene to the rest of the world. The popularity of Gospel music in Japan has been rapidly growing for the past 20 years, since the movie “Sister Act” became a hit in 1992. Today, there are hundreds of Gospel choirs throughout Japan, not necessarily in churches, but in music schools, social clubs, etc. Gospel music has turned out to be one of the new popular “hobbies” among Japanese people, from kids to senior's.

  • Swedish Soul Funk Grooves - Patriks Soul/Funk Music
Swedish soul funk grooves - Patriks soul/funk music http://www.soulfunkmusic.com/swedish.htm Swedish soul and funk 1979-2005 Sweden is best known for Abba that conquered the world in the late 70s with catchy disco influenced melodies. Even though the melodies are "eternal" in many respects Sweden got more to offer. In this introduction to Swedish soul and funk and jazz from 1979 to 1990, with a brief overview of the 90s as well, I will give you a short history and most of all my recommendations to you of the best rare Swedish soul and funk grooves! Music history Sweden got a rather limited amount of more prominent composers during the history. The most well known names during the period 1700-1800 are baroque composer Johan Helmich Roman and the troubadour Carl Michael Bellman. Between 1800 and 1900 Sweden had many names but no one reached higher levels of recognition outside Sweden. From 1900 until 1945 completely new genres got a foothold on Swedish soil and jazz became one of the most important ones. After the end of the second world war the jazz influences from USA got even stronger and during the following decades after 1945. Sweden have since the 50s produced outstanding jazz impressionists and vocalists that achieved much attention both in Sweden and on the American scene with names like vocalist Alice Babs, clarinetist Åke Hasselgård, that was one of the first to play bop, pianist Bengt Hallberg and altoist Arne Domnerus. Many of these played or sang with the greatest names in America.

  • Jeffrey Osborne Worth It All
Jeffrey Osborne Worth It All Jeffrey Osborne is a drum beater, a heart beater and an odds beater. From his early days percussively propelling the band L.T.D. to its highest heights to spinning off as a solo artist when too few knew his name (but very soon would as the singer of “On the Wings of Love”), Jeffrey Osborne has defiantly marched to the rhythm of his own fiery spirit and come up a winner every time. He’s about to do it again with the release of Worth It All, his first R&B album in over a decade besides his acclaimed 2013 Jazz CD, A Time For Love. This is Osborne’s first album for multi-award-winning Artistry/Mack Avenue Records. Jeffrey and his return to his R&B roots CD will feel right home. Worth It All is a spirited and highly diversified 12-song collection of material all written, produced and sung by Jeffrey Osborne. All of the songs were written within the last several years and, for the most part, lovingly laser-focused on relationships and romance – subjects near and dear to his heart as he has been happily married for over three decades. Osborne – who made the milestone of 70-years- young on March 9, 2018 – proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that he can still “woo-woo-woo” with the greatest singers still on the planet. With Worth It All, he is working overtime in his original realm of Soul. “I wanted to do an old school R&B album this time,” Jeffrey explains.

Through the Texas Reading Club, students in grades 2-9 meet real-life and fictional detectives, spies, cops, and criminals. They can also investigate detection techniques and the science of crime solving. The flexibility of the program allows teaciers to decide what aspects of the theme to use and which to ignore. Librarians are encouraged to involve their school districts, other staff members, and volunteers in planning and promoting the program. They are discouraged from embarrassing children by rating their reading skills, criticizing their taste in books, or appearing to doubt their honesty about whether they have read their books. This guide provides ideas for activities, crafts, bulletin boards, speakers, and book and film materials related to the theme.
