could be a coach, mentor, family friend, etc. The Character Skills Snapshot – an online assessment that measures different qualities: https://ssat.org/snapshot (a student SSAT account must be created to register for this assessment) Interviews: An interview is usually conducted by a member of the Admissions Office, an alumni (graduate) of the school, or a faculty or staff member of the school. They will ask the applicant questions about many topics, including their family and background, their academic and extracurricular interests, and why they are applying to the school. It is also an opportunity for the applicant to ask questions about the school and what it is like to be a student there. Tours and Shadow Days: These on-campus experiences allow an applicant to see and explore the campus in different ways. Tours, typically conducted by a student trained to work in the Admissions Office, will walk an applicant and their family around the campus and point out specific aspects of the school’s facilities and features. Shadow Days allow an applicant to spend time following a student through their daily schedule and experience classes and free time alongside that person. https://www.andover.edu/pals .

    April 7, 2021 Dear Parents and Guardians, I hope you had a nice time with your Brooks School children and families over Spring Break. With nearly two weeks of classes having passed since we returned to school, we wanted to be in touch with our updated thinking and planning about the balance of the 2020-2021 school year. We have just under two months to go until we reach Prize Day for the class of 2021 on Sunday, June 6, and are eager to make the most of the time we have left with one another in this very different year. While what follows comes with the standard COVID-19 disclaimer and is subject to change, we are currently confident that what we are aiming for can be reached successfully if we all do our part to keep the community healthy. It has been exciting to have more students on campus than was the case in the fall or winter, and we want to do all we can to stay fully intact through early June. Spring Session We have been in touch a fair amount over the past couple of weeks with elements of our plans for these final two-plus months of the school year. You can continue to access these updates and others that will come through the spring on the school's COVID-19 Updates website page. As always, please let us know if you have questions. For now, here is what we have in mind as we look ahead to what we hope will be our best stretch of the year: Intake Testing - We received all the results from our final round of intake testing for all in-person students at the end of the day yesterday, and are pleased to report that we have done well getting the spring off to a good start.

    Karen Callahan Senior Consultant & Principal/ Leader, Schools Practice EDUCATION Clarkson University, B.A. University of Massachusetts, M.A. RESIDENCE Portsmouth, New Hampshire Professional Experience Karen joined Marts & Lundy in 2012 as a Senior Consultant and, in 2016, took on the role as leader of the Schools practice. Along with her extensive experience in developing annual giving programs and managing campaign efforts, Karen brings expertise in establishing development programs and cultivating and soliciting gifts from foreign constituents of U.S. schools, particularly those in Asia and Europe. Before joining the firm, she served Brooks School in Massachusetts for 14 years as the Director of Advancement. During that time she was responsible for significant growth in all areas of development including growth in the alumni and parent annual giving program from $700,000 per year to $2.5 million per year; leading the school through a $50 million comprehensive campaign for endowment and facilities, as well as a subsequent $12 million two-year campaign for a new science facility; and the establishment of the Headmaster’s Parents Council program that culminated in raising over one million dollars each year. Prior to her work at Brooks, Karen was Director of Leadership Gifts ($100,000+) at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts. With firm colleagues, and in partnership with TABS, she conducted a 2013 study in international giving, presenting the results in spring 2014.
