New 'Riverdale' Cryptic Teaser Might Suggest The New Season Will Be Darker Than The Rest

The last four seasons have been a wild ride, and the fifth seems to be just as promising...but it's going to be different.

The cast of Riverdale will be returning for season 5, which is expected to be more thrilling than the ones that came before!

If there's one thing you learn over four seasons of Riverdale, it's the fact that anything can happen. The Gargoyle King will continue to make appearances and it somehow, ties the story together, while the rest of the gang spends their time everywhere but in high school.

Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) and the gang find themselves in boxing rings, busting drug lords and their businesses, and of course, playing detective and tracing clues to help bring down a cult disguised as a safe haven, and more. The last four seasons have been a wild ride, and the fifth seems to be just as promising...but it's going to be different.

The new season is set to premiere on January 20th, and although there's no trailer to give fans a glimpse into the eerie town and its brave residents yet, the show's official Instagram account released a short teaser, which might suggest that season 5 has the potential of being the most twisted one yet.

While some fans are expecting a Riverdale crossover with Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, there hasn't been any confirmation from creator Roberto Aguirre Sacasa. Instead, there's a cryptic teaser announcing the trailer, which features chilling, suspenseful music, as the town of Riverdale feels stranger than usual.

"Nobody ever really leaves #Riverdale. Season 5 trailer drops tomorrow!" they captioned the teaser. We'll be waiting to learn more about the season when the trailer arrives, but at least we have a peek at the anticipated prom episode!

Exciting things are in store for fans of Riverdale! The show's anticipated prom episode was initially written as one of the final episodes in season 4. Unfortunately, the pandemic imposed filming restrictions that rendered the team unable to continue filming, which caused production to shut down abruptly.

The season ended three episodes earlier than planned, leaving the videotape murderer mystery unsolved, and the prom and graduation episodes indefinitely postponed.

TV Line shared an exclusive glimpse at the prom episode, which sees the cast huddled together, making a toast. Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) and Archie Andrews are seen slow dancing, while Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan) and Cheryl Blosson (Madelaine Petsch) are seen smiling, and standing arm-in-arm together.

Fans have been wondering which couple will be crowned as Prom King and Queen, and they're hoping it's everyone's favourite pair Bughead, aka Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart)!

Many of the people who have sought shelter in the remote Indian state since late February are defecting policemen and their families. “We have to help them in the time of need,” Mizoram lawmaker K. Vanlalvena, who attended the meetings, said in an interview. At least 250 people have been killed and thousands detained in Myanmar since Feb. 1, with security forces attempting to stamp out widespread pro-democracy protests.
