Manickavasagam* Parasitoid Taxonomy and Biocontrol Laboratory Department of Entomology, Annamalai University Chidambaram - 608 002 An attempt was made to survey the aphelinid parasitoid fauna of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, India from December, 2008 to January, 2011 which resulted in the recovery of 15 genera and 30 species of aphelinids of which one and two genera and three and 18 species are new distributional records for Kerala and Tamil Nadu respectively. The following catalogue of the Iranian fauna of Aphelinidae includes a list of all genera and species recorded for the country, their distribution in and outside Iran, and known hosts in Iran. In total 138 species from 11 genera (Ablerus, Aphelinus, Aphytis, Coccobius, Coccophagoides, Coccophagus, Encarsia, Eretmocerus, Marietta, Myiocnema, Pteroptrix) are listed as the fauna of Iran. INTRODUCTION Since the synopsis of GarBarczyk (1997), who listed from Poland 56 species of Platygastrinae (i.e., Platygastridae excluding Scelionidae and Sceliotrachelidae, as accepted by most authors today), a substantial progress has been made in the faunistic study of this group of tiny parasitoid wasps. Two species, Synopeas bialowiezaensis BUHL, 2005 and Platygaster polonica Buhl & Jałoszyński, 2016a were described based on specimens known only from Poland, and Inostemma kaponeni BUHL, 2005 was described from Finland and Poland.

Synopeas melampus and S. rigidicornis are transferred back to Synopeas from Leptacis, placed there by H. J. VLUG in 1973. Sactogaster longicauda and 5. pisi are proposed as new synonyms for Sactogaster curvicauda. Synopeas melampus sensu KOZLOV is given the new name S. sculpturatus. RAJMOHANA & Prashanth MOHANRAJ Abstract Three new species of Sceliotrachelinae are added to the Indian fauna of Playgastridae, two species to the genus Fidiobia ASHMEAD and one to Plutomerus MASNER & HUGGERT. The latter is represented by just two species worldwide. The three new species F. virakthamati, F. nagarajae and P. veereshi are all described from South India. A key to the three known species of Plutomerus of the world is provided. Key words: Hymenoptera, Platygastridae, Sceliotrachelinae, Fidiobia, Plutomerus, South India. Zusammenfassung Aus den Gattungen Fidiobia ASHMEAD und Plutomerus MASNER & HUGGERT (Hymenoptera, Playgastridae, Sceliotrachelinae) konnten drei neue Arten aus Süd-Indien beschrieben und illustriert werden: Fidiobia virakthamati, Fidiobia nagarajae und Plutomerus veereshi. Allotrapa, Amitus, Fidiobia and Plutomerus in India (MANI & MUKERJEE 1981; RAJMOHANA 2011). The genus Fidiobia is represented by twenty species worldwide (JOHNSON 2011). So far no species of Fidiobia have been described from India except for the brief description of an undescribed species of Fidiobia by MANI & SHARMA (1982). The work took place in two irrigated rice crops, one with organic management (O.M.) and another one with conventional management (C.M.), in the municipality of Nova Santa Rita, RS, Brazil, during the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 seasons. The parasitoids were collected with Malaise trap arranged at different distances in relation to the native vegetation surrounding the rice crop in both places. Specimens were collected twice a month from seeding until the rice harvest.

This phenomenon has been most frequently documented in Lepidoptera and Coleoptera, but has been less well investigated in Hymenoptera. It has long been recognized that many hymenopterans, especially scelionids (Platygastridae), show a recurring pattern of black head, orange/red mesosoma, and black metasoma (BOB coloration). However, the taxonomic distribution of this striking color pattern has never been documented across the entire order. The main objective of our research was to provide a preliminary tabulation of this color pattern in Hymenoptera, through examination of museum specimens and relevant literature. We included 11 variations of the typical BOB color pattern but did not include all possible variations. These color patterns were found in species belonging to 23 families of Hymenoptera, and was most frequently observed in scelionids, evaniids, and mutillids, but was relatively infrequent in Cynipoids, Diaprioids, Chalcidoids, and Apoids.
