Jean Judith Xavier
Jean Judith Xavier ICACM International Casting & Creative Management Sydney, NSW 2010 Michael Turkic: +61 481 085 972 William Le (text): +61 405 539 752 E: [email protected] W: http://www.icacm.com.au Biography Jean Judith Javier is a singer, musical theatre performer and a film actor, who is unstoppable in bringing her heart to her audience, she draws courage from them. As a soprano, Jean Judith sings for opera and musical theatre but never limits her capacity by performing pieces from world arts songs. As a film actor, her roles are unconventional that manifest her embodied inner strength but mystical persona. She learns how to sing at an early age of nine performing in the church and villages. Coming from a humble beginning, Jean Judith captures the skill of fine singing from her mother and her sensitivity for arts was nurtured by being deeply connected to the expressive musical cultures of the Philippines, her motherland. Her tenacity to work as a full-time actor and the faith she puts to her craft gave her opportunities to perform in cities and provinces in the Philippines and South and East Asian countries like Korea, Indonesia, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan and various cities in China. She assumed self-title roles from many original musicales that have had impacted the history of Philippine contemporary theatre. In opera, she played Sisa for “Noli Me Tangere: The Opera”, a difficult role. But her portrayal of the most iconic Philippine fictive character and deranged woman captures her audience giving her standing ovations and critical acclaim from critics. -

Social Climate/Column for Phil Daily Inquirer
“What’s the latest?” Page 1 of 3 Column for Philippine Daily Inquirer PDI 09-02, 1-09-08 [for publication on 1-10-2008] “What’s the latest?” Mahar Mangahas Right after greeting me Happy New Year, the most common next question of friends and acquaintances is “What’s the latest?” referring, most of all, to prospects for the next national election in 2010, according to the SWS surveys. I tell them that the survey leaders are a cluster of three, namely Noli de Castro, Manny Villar, and Loren Legarda, and then refer them to the SWS website, since I can’t remember so many numbers, all the more as another year passes by. Anyway, for the nth time, last November 7th SWS reported the finding of its September 2008 survey that the top answers to the question on persons who would be good (magaling) successors of Pres. Arroyo as President, with up to three names accepted, were – with percentages in parentheses -- de Castro (29), Villar (28), Legarda (26), Panfilo Lacson (17), Francis Escudero (16), Joseph Estrada (13), and Mar Roxas (13). All others, including Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Bayani Fernando, Antonio Trillanes et al., got one percent or less. In short, the aspirants cluster into three groups: the top three, then a group of four at least 9 points away, and then everyone else. To be fair to all possible aspirants, no list of names was provided to prompt the respondents. As a result, we discover that some Filipinos favor the return of GMA or Erap in 2010, and some favor Trillanes, though he would not yet be 40 years old by then. -

Santiago Bose Striking Affinities Catalogue.Pdf
The exhibition explores the geographic coordinates of Santiago Bose’s practice: Baguio, Manila, New York, Adelaide, Bali, and Spratly Islands. These places are homelands, contact zones, passage ways, hot spots, exhibition sites -- shaping the work of Bose in the same way that the artist in a reciprocal gesture shaped them. They are mapped out in the exhibition to remember the movements of Bose as well as to understand how he likewise speculated on possible worlds beyond the existing cartography within which he circulated with interest, if not with alacrity. Part of the three-part Bose project, this second iteration follows through Bare Necessities, which laid out the groundwork of artistic impulse and the fundamentals of risk. - words by Patrick Flores Hills Hoist 1994 mixed media 49.75h x 33.20w in 126.36h x 84.33w cm inquire book an appointment Bandit 1999 mixed media on plywood 27.5h x 38.25w in 69.85h x 91.16w cm inquire book an appointment “Lola Dianang’s Garden” 1973 51.57h x 20.08w in 131h x 51w cm inquire book an appointment BALI Balinese Diary (Cover) 2000 mixed media 30.50h x 22w in 77.47h x 55.88w cm book an appointment *from the collection of Kim and Felicia Atienza Pages from Bose’s Balinese Diary Pages from Bose’s Balinese Diary Pages from Bose’s Balinese Diary BAGUIO Untitled (Burned with Magnifying Glass) 1995 watercolor on handmade paper 25.25h x 33.25w in 64.14h x 84.45w cm inquire book an appointment Faith Healer (Solar Art Series) 1995 intermedia on handmade paper 35.25h x 28w in 89.53h x 71.12w cm book an appointment -
