Abstract The taxonomic status of two leptodactylid frog genera is reevaluated. Ischnocnema Reinhardt and Lütken, 1862 is considered a junior synonym of Eleutherodactylus Duméril and Bibron, and the combination E. verrucosus (Reinhardt and Lütken, 1862) is proposed. Oreobates Jiménez-de-la- Espada, 1872 is revalidated, and the combinations Oreobates quixensis Jiménez-de-la-Espada, 1872, O. simmonsi (Lynch, 1974), O. saxatilis (Duellman, 1990), O. sanctaecrucis (Harvey and Keck, 1995), and O. sanderi (Padial, Reichle and De la Riva, 2005) are proposed. Epsophus verrucosus Miranda-Ribeiro, 1937 is synonymized with Eleutherodactylus verrucosus (Reinhardt and Lütken, 1862). In general, a more detailed analysis reveals that these species are, in reality, members of distinct evolutionary lineages. The geographical distribution of the species currently placed in the genus Ischnocnema Reinhardt and Lütken, 1862 presents such a gap. N E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: Herein I present a new geographical record of Ischnocnema verrucosa Reinhardt and Lütken, 1862 for northeastern Brazil and briefly discuss the new record with a previous record of similar characteristics. Recently, the speciose genus Eleutherodactylus Duméril and Bibron, 1841 was subject to various large molecular phylogenetic analyses (Frost et al. 2006; Heinicke et al. 2007; Hedges et al. 2008), being split into several taxa. Among these, Ischnocnema Reinhardt and Lütken, 1862 series. According to Hedges et al. Currently, I. penaxavantinho is only known from four localities in the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás (Giaretta, 2008; Bastos et al., 2015; �el �rette et al., 2018), and little is known about its natural history and population trends, being therefore classified as �ata �eficient (Giaretta, 2008; ICMBio, 2014). GARCÍA ABSTRACT Ischnocnema izecksohni inhabits the gdllery foreste from the Qiiadrilátero Ferrífero, South- ern Espinhago range, state of Minas Gemís, southeastern Brazil, and it is consideren endemic to this región. Its closest related species is I. nasuta according to the original description. We describe the advertisement cali of\. ízecksohni based on specimens recorded and collected at the munidpality ofNova Lima, state of Minas Gerais, distant about 10 km straight line from ifá type locality. The advertisement cali consists of a group of notes emitted sporadicctlly without a regular interval between the calis. Cali dumtion (n = 36 calis in four individu- áis) rangedfrom 1.03 to 1.85 s (= 1.52 ± 0.21 s) and the cali rise time from 0.66 to 1.52 s (= 1.16 ± 0.25 s), with 34-57 notes per calí (= 47.42 ± 6.03). Peak frequency rangedfrom 2250 to 2625 Hz, the dominant frequency from 1317.8 to 3128.0 Hz and interval between notes from 22.00 to 41.00 ms (= 28.63 ± 0.03 ms). E-mail: [email protected]. Abstract A new species of Oreobates is described from Cavernas do Peruaçu National Park, Januária, Minas Gerais state, in the Atlantic Dry Forests of Brazil. The new species is distinguished from all other Oreobates by having the following combi- nation of characters: large tympanum, discs broadly enlarged and truncate on Fingers III and IV, smooth dorsal skin, nup- tial pads absent, snout subacuminate, and a very short pulsatile (2–3 pulses) single-noted advertisement call with dominant frequency of about 3150 Hz, and no harmonic structure. Molecular phylogenetic analyses using partial sequences of the mitochondrial genes cytochrome b (cyt b) and 16S using multiple outgroups recovered the new species within Oreobates and sister to O. heterodactylus. The latter species inhabits the Dry Forests of Mato Grosso (Cerrado) and Bolivia (Chiq- uitano forests), and is strictly associated to these habitats, which suggests a preterit connection between Chiquitano and Atlantic Dry Forests. The discovery of a new Oreobates in the Atlantic Dry Forest is of great importance for the conser- vation of these dry forests, as it is known only from this type of habitat. -
