He has been a chaplain to both the police and fire depart- ments since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Towers in 2001. At the time, he was a member of the staff of St. Francis Church in mid-town Manhattan, where Fr. Mychal Judge was also in residence. Fr. Mychal was chaplain to the fire depart- ment, and responding to the news of the attack on the Twin Towers, rushed to be of assistance, and died while ministering to others. He was considered the first official casualty of the Twin Towers attack. Fr. Brian stepped in immediately, and continued be of support to the ‘first-responders’ as well as to their families and countless volunteers. He celebrated mass regularly at ‘Ground Zero’ during the massive clean up, and sadly participated at too many funerals and memorial services for those whose lives were lost. He continues to the present, to be chaplain to both the Police and Fire Departments. Brian has been a member of our community here at Our Lady of Peace ‘in residence,’ for the past three years, since em- bracing the ministry of chaplain at St. Francis College, located here in Brooklyn. Born on July 25, 1955, Fr. Brian is the son of Gerard Jordan and the late Eileen Jordan, and he is a ‘native son,’ having been born and raised here in Brooklyn. He is one of sev- en in a family of four brothers and two sisters. Fr. Brian began his journey with the Franciscans in August of 1977, as an ‘Affiliate’ with the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. The ‘Motherhouse Church’ of his Province is the Church of St. Francis on 31st Street in midtown Manhattan, and is known by many of you.
