As long as the maximum number of persons permitted to gather by the Province of Ontario and the relevant municipality and public health authority is less than or equal to 100, the maximum number of non-participants attending any event is limited to 1 per player.     Award Winners Named: 2004 Ontario Sport Awards ONTARIO’S FINEST ATHLETES, COACHES, LEADERS OF 2004 HONOURED AT 38th ONTARIO SPORT AWARDS TORONTO April 9, 2005 - The Sport Alliance of Ontario [sportalliance] is pleased to announce the winners of Ontario Sport Awards for 2004, awarded at a ceremony at the Ontario Science Centre on April 7. Ontario Male Athlete of the Year Adam van Koeverden of Oakville nominated by Canoe Ontario Adam took part in the 2004 Olympics, bringing home two medals in the sport of 2004 canoeing. He also competed on the 1997 Ontario Canada Games Team and won a bronze medal at the 1999 Junior World Championships. Last season, Adam managed to bring in 11 gold, 4 silvers, and 3 bronze. As a result of his accomplishments, he was awarded the Lou March Award in December as Canada's most outstanding Athlete and also the James Worall Award as the Flag Bearer at the closing ceremonies of the Athens Games. Always a team player, Adam doesn't mind taking on a leadership role either and strives for success as a team. Even with his recent fame from the Olympics, Adam has remained humble and inspires young paddlers across Canada. Ontario Female Athlete of the Year Tonya Verbeek of St. Catharines nominated by the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association Tonya has been one of Canada’s most consistent performers in the past two years with gold medal performances at the 2003 Pan Am Championship, 2003 Hans von Zons in Germany, 2003 New York Athletic Club, 2004 Austrian Ladies Open and the 2004 Canada Cup.

This season down the road to the east in Thunder Bay the U18 World Baseball Cup the host Canadians celebrated a fourth-place finish! Many of us followed the edge of the seat MLB post season action. As of writing this the Champion still hasn’t been determined. There were best games ever, every night of the Series. As fans of baseball we were interested, invested and followed these events pitch by pitch. More locally, in the American Association the Winnipeg Goldeyes are the first back 2 back champions in ten years capturing the title at Shaw Park.

Message from the President – Andrew Downs Welcome to the 2021 Baseball season! As an organization, looking back on the 2020 season, I would sum it up as a season of learning. We learned to social distance, developed new routines for work / school / sport, became experts in Zoom and learned the importance of washing our hands and wearing masks to protect ourselves, family and strangers alike. In the baseball community, we learned to adapt our game to meet the COVID-19 guidelines as provided by public health. Although, not perfect, we did learn a lot and, in most cases, changed how we do things to be more efficient and timelier. Once again, I would like to recognize the strength in our provincial baseball community. To the association leaders, coaches, umpires, volunteers, players, parents and supporters of baseball, thank you. Thank you for working tirelessly, harnessing all your energy and skills to be innovative, supportive, and proactive to provide a safe environment to play the game we all love.
